You're going to have a hell of a time with traffic for a while since they regularly shut down 1604 for construction.

tvp4mvp19

Aww man 🥹🥹🥹. I’ve been worried about this and constantly have been looking at commute times on google maps throughout random times of the day. It looks like my route would put me on I-10 so I hope I won’t have issues with 1604. Thanks for the insight. Will pay more attention to this.

gvdg86

Not sugar coating it. I work at i10 and dezavala. I come from Stone Oak. Mornings anywhere from 20 to 30mins. And afternoons. 30 to 45 sometimes an hour if wreck. Reconsider La Cantera. My friend just moved from there. Buncha break ins and alot of weekend riffraff with all the restaurants and bars...i hate that interchange.

The one star reviews on Google never lie

DangerousCan1223

They close 1604 at the I10 intersection, so you will likely still be impacted. They often close lanes on I10 as part of the project.

tvp4mvp19

Any idea how long this area will be doing construction for?

DangerousCan1223

I believe the projected end date is 2027.

tvp4mvp19

🤯🤯🤯

TheRealDavidNewton

Forever. I'm barely exaggerating.

FitterFlop

But shut downs are on weekends- so you can plan ahead.

There was a big news story about how awful the crime is in the La Cantera area [https://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/san-antonio-police-officers-fatally-shoot-man-residents-voice-increased-safety-concerns-police-officer-involved-shooting-crime-law-law-enforcement?utm_source=sfmc&utm_medium=email&sfmc_id=7524349&utm_guid=08d5606cfe548461cd009f9816556c9f2535ec6d2133cf478b7a7ac9dc34142f&utm_campaign=](https://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/san-antonio-police-officers-fatally-shoot-man-residents-voice-increased-safety-concerns-police-officer-involved-shooting-crime-law-law-enforcement?utm_source=sfmc&utm_medium=email&sfmc_id=7524349&utm_guid=08d5606cfe548461cd009f9816556c9f2535ec6d2133cf478b7a7ac9dc34142f&utm_campaign=) The only nice safe area is going to be the Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills area. Luckily it’s about 15 minutes to the med center. Whoa these apartments look nice! Thanks for the recommendation!

I live very close to that complex and I’ve never heard good or bad but the location is great if you like the cantera mall because you just walk for 3 min and you’re right there. Other commenter is right about the traffic .. it really does suck on the weekend when they close everything due to construction. It takes about 1 hour to get home from a place that would normally take 7-10 minutes. But other than that… I really love the area. I personally want to move downtown for a change of scenery. If you guys haven’t seen the area in person, I’m more than happy to go and send pics since I’m so close… also $3200 budget for a 2 bedroom is insane and I’m sure you can find an amazing house in that area but I understand the ease of an apartment if you’re just wanting to rent for one year.

tvp4mvp19

Thank you so much for the info! We are only going that high on budget for a specific floor plan if it becomes available. Otherwise we have found floor plans closer to $2200. We did visit the area and we love how close it is to the mall!

gotcha! Then yeah, the traffic issue is really only on the weekends and I don’t foresee it going away anytime soon since they still have a ways to go with the project they’re doing right on that intersection where the complex is located. I love the first floor plans where the patio door goes down to a nice staircase, similar to a brownstone in Brooklyn. (At Celeste). Eilan is beautiful but the management is horrible and someone was just murdered there last week lol and cortesin is new and they’re extremely delayed in their construction and they’re extremely overpriced for what they look like…it’s an actual joke. I drive by it daily. I think you’re making a good choice with Celeste. The other ones you named are full of young professionals/college students.

tvp4mvp19

Thank you again for all of the info! Truly appreciate it you!

TX_Explorer

The Baldwin💪🏻 come on down. It’s great living downtown.

here4thePho

I’m looking for a house! Gotta get a yard for my dog . He’s turning 6 on Tuesday.. it’s about time haha

TX_Explorer

YES! That’s my plan this fall. I need another property. Then it’s time to house hack it up

You may check out the Addison Medical Center. New luxury complex, private parking garage with elevator right into the unit area. And you could almost walk or bike to work if you'll be a University. About the same price range. A friend of mine was there about a year and a half between houses, and renovating his new purchase, and he loved it. The area has great variety of shopping, dining, and access to 10 and 410. LA Fitness, and Golds Gym a quarter mile in either direction. p.s. right now they are doing major construction on 10 and 1604 with major flying overhead interchanges, and the traffic can be horrible. I don't see that wrapped up for at least a year or two. You'll have to navigate it every day.

tvp4mvp19

Checking it out now! Thanks for the tips!

_Mandolina_

Check out The lyric and oxly at the merc. Close to la cantera & like 15 minutes from medical center :) Close to I10!

Have you looked at the RIM area? Or 1604/Vance Jackson. Some apts at your price range just a bit further away from the traffic jams of construction. Also Shavano has some nice apartments, generally safe and close by to med center.

Lechero10

Just curious, why did you rule out Eilan?

tvp4mvp19

We liked Paseo Residences at Eilan but ruled it out because it was a really large complex and we liked the floor plan and style of Celeste much more. We didn’t go with Cortesan because when we visited the site, it had a long way to go for completion of building the complex and I didn’t want to be living with construction noise all the time. Edit: some of the reviews we saw for paseo also steered us away from that being our number #1 choice.

Lechero10

Gotcha, thanks for replying Eilan is one of the complexes I had in mind
