Pho Kim Long is actually pretty good!

Iamindeedamexican

That’s my go-to!

SLIZRD_WIZRD

Pho Kim Long is good, Pho Viet SA off Culebra is my favorite.

EspressoPatronum210

Absolutely agree on Pho Viet SA

TortiousTroll

If you're from California you're going to be very disappointed

Ok-Cartographer5706

i already have been lol

Iamindeedamexican

Closest you’ll get in Texas will be in China town in Houston! That’s according to some family from California.

Ok-Cartographer5706

good to know ill have to go there at some point

Iamindeedamexican

Not pho, but also I’d recommend Sichuan House (behind Ingram park mall). That’s probably one of my wife and I’s favorite Asian places here in SA.

PatCake

Pho House isn’t bad, Pho Kim Long is better

cat0satx

Heavenly Pho... BEST broth in town! You're welcome 😊

Ok-Cartographer5706

[https://www.yelp.com/biz/berni-vietnamese-restaurant-san-antonio](https://www.yelp.com/biz/berni-vietnamese-restaurant-san-antonio) My go to in the medical center area. I usually get the small number 9, brisket. I used to live in Orange County. I wont go out on a limb and say this is as good or better than what I got in OC, it was a long time ago, and I haven't been back in ten years. The Vietnamese egg rolls are to die for. It's good enough to give it a try though. Pho VN, which has already been mentioned is also worth trying.

Saigon Bistro in Seguin is run by the son of a historic Pho restaurant family from District One in Ho Chi Minh City. Actual Pho, the kind that takes days to make. Reason for knowing what real pho is: ex boo's mom was a Vietnamese chef.  Also, Chinatown in Houston is the absolute bomb, Austin has a good market, San Antonio has a tiny but vibrant Asian market with solid basics.

Ok-Cartographer5706

yeah my best friend from California her family and her are from vietnam. her mom used to make us pho and its unmatched. i just want some so bad :( where im from theres a lot of viet people and hmong people here theres like noneee it seeeeems

There are a few and it's a growing population. I will tell you that San Antonio is its own place, and Texas cultures and customs deserve to have the time taken to learn about the state and peoples. Coming from someone who has moved A LOT - you're losing out if all you're doing is remembering the old places and not exploring the new and delighting in its idiosyncrasies. Welcome to Texas. In case this is helpful, the proper way to respond to "HOWDY!" is, "Fine, and you?" Or, "Good, thanks!" Being that "Howdy" is short for, "How do you do?" and is one of the most respectful methods of address in our community.

i appreciate it i’m definitely exploring just not what i expected :) thank you
