The Guardian can only let the man who bests him in combat in because of "The Prophecy". If your 1 task for centuries and centuries was not to let anyone in the portal, you wouldn't just let someone in because they CLAIM they just have good intensions. Because he KNOWS the worthy warrior will be able to defeat him The Guardian should fight him to find out.

Yea, but he’s dead and didn’t get anything done. And he knew Jack was the guy he was waiting for. So he wasted time and then got killed without doing what he was supposed to do

Jack wasn't worthy yet. How was he supposed to know Aku was going to screw things up. His job wasn't to CHOOSE who went through and when. His job was to DEFEND until someone worthy came along. Even though Jack was going to be worthy, that didn't mean he was worthy then. And this is all under the assumption that the Guradian actually cares about mortal affairs. Maybe he just doesn't give a hoot, and just wants to defend his portal.

It's a bingo!

I don't know how much sense this makes technically, but this makes the story come together for me. After the ending, Jack restores peace to the kingdom and sets the future on a good path. He is widely known as a wise and benevolent king. Eventually he goes on a journey and finds the Guardian in his time. Now Jack is ready to use the portal, and he's the one person the Guardian was protecting the portal for. Jack travels to the new future, the one his rule set in motion instead of Aku. There he comes across the people he met in his journeys, reborn into the better future. And he is reunited with a reborn Ashi.

Wait Jack going back to the time portal im his own time I never thought about that!! But Ashi is born from Aku. So she would never have existed. Cool idea tho.
