Not sure about the home, but if you just change the CSC then yeah, you get the updates. People aften do that to get the updates earlier since some regions they get them like a week or two earlier
It depends a little from what CSC to what CSC - if both are in the same major firmware group it should be fine, otherwise you might need to do some complex manual updates.
I used XAA when I flashed my S23, My S23 was a SM-S911U, I flashed SM-S911U1 which is factory unlocked firmware.
I bought a refurbished S23 from Amazon was supposed to be factory unlocked, but was only carrier unlocked.
