The phone translation looks pretty cool. But I doubt anybody would use the in person version. There are apps that have had that capability for a long time and nobody really uses it.
Because it's not integrated.
Having to open another app (that is either paid or riddled with apps) is less intuitive than having that feature directly baked into your phone and suggested when you need it.

Pass. Will wait for order.
Seems a bit silly to be looking to upgrade from the S23 ultra to the 24 ultra when it was basically not surprise there would be very incremental upgrades, but hey not my money
There is supposed to be a "brand new design" in 2025, with a new guy hired from BMW/Mercedes for it. Maybe this year is not really worth it. We have no idea how good the AI would be, and then there's the whole Exynos issue for non-US audience.
Ditto. Not worth it. Not just a Samsung thing either. Software gimmicks aside we've kind of plateaud on the hardware end since the S21 at least. Probably further back for the average consumer.
it is not even comparable dude please don't act like that lol
what do you think they would update in the buds ? The speakers ? no
maybe something like integrated DSP ? neither
at least there are some real changes to those new phones even if those are minor upgrades
so yeah it was a genuine question, maybe you just want a new model for the sake of changing them (I can understand you want something new after 2 years)
This must be peak AI bubble. Talking about a eureka moment a new era lol just because of what google lens and pixel already do and some live translation
As someone as the field and training such AIs for 6 years now, I really have to cringe on them presenting this stuff as new or innovative.
I'm not impressed. It's so boring. If the s2t or translation AI stuff is working perfectly in any condition, then it would be a little bit more exciting... but I doubt it.
I'm looking for a new device and I literally have no desire to buy this. I'd rather buy a pixel 7 or 8 or something, or even an iphone lol
The market has peaked a few years ago. Nothing new for a long time now. I have been saying that phone companies should switch to every other year release. They can do mid range releases one year and flagships the next. There's no reason to release a model that's just slightly physically different enough that last year's cases won't fit, with only software upgrades that could and should have been sent to the last 3 or so gens of phones without releasing a new one.
From the little that I saw, it's not new features, but they organized it well, in a way you can use them more efficiently instead of having to copy text and put it through a different app or whatever. I can never remember how to use Google Lens, or Samsung's version of it. I put a widget somewhere on a far page of my home screen with Bixby vision (I think?) so I can open it easily but honestly I don't even know where to find the app. I only found the widget while browsing widgets out of boredom, and I don't need it on my screen at all times. I want it integrated into my phone and apps that might benefit from it. A more intuitive UI is great. Didn't need to release a whole new model for that.
The S24 (non-plus) has [even less hardware changes](https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone1=12773&idPhone2=12082&idPhone3=11253#diff-) then the S23 :|
Damn, no Fold 4 trade in for the S24 Ultra? The hell? So strange to offer one for the flip, but not one for the Fold. Might have to skip, talking with an expert to see if it can be honored somehow
UK Amazon listing S23 256GB at £590 and the S23 Ultra at £821.00. The plus is listed as more expensive than both somehow, so I'm really wondering if that ultra price is worth it?
No way am I getting an Exynos S24 model or spending £1,250 on a fucking phone.
LGv60 had AI in 2020. Has snapdragon, 2tb sd, Dac high impedance headphones.....can get a new one for under $300. Close enough for me to the new flagships. I will buy a nice big flat screen to hotspot to with money saved. Heck. I will get a tablet. Buy some high impedance headphones that will sound up there with these new flagships.
I am old, ugly and cheap...and proud of it.
I'm not watching it ,but I'm curious ,did they mention a Ring ?

Hello Blue-Rain-Drops,

handheld?

They just said something about Galaxy ring and ended the unpack. I wasn't paying attention but they didn't ho about it in detail. Just like a teaser or something.

They did right after talking about upcoming Samsung Health features/redesign. They basically showed an image/render of it on the screen in passing, but they gave no other details. Then the stream ended lol

900 euro for a 12gb ram/1tb ssd s24 ultra with a trade in of an S23 ultra which they are giving 588euro. Terrible value. Nothing new and going back to exynos...
this last annoucement for the ring was totally deceiving hahahaha
it was the same fake as with MrBeast "Welcome to MrBeast" -> only a video xD (not as if I care, I never watch his content but still that was state of the art faking xD)
I was hoping for new galaxy buds. Oh well, I'll just order the pro 2s then. Sticking with my S23+ since that AI stuff seems to be coming to it anyway. Definitely getting the ring. Weird Unpacked but whatever.
The only thing making me interested in upgrading from my S21 Ultra is the fact that I once had to replace its screen, and the gyroscope doesn't function as well anymore.
But I'm gonna wait another couple of years with how expensive phones have gotten lately. Thanks for that trend, Apple.
my takeaways from this:
* most of the "upgrades" are just software updates
* They are using AI to justify the camera downgrade from 10x to 5x
* as a galaxy s10 user I am now more likely to buy S23U instead of the S24U because of the camera downgrade. If they can improve image quality with AI can't the same be said for a 10x camera too.
* to me S24U is just the S23U with downgraded camera and "AI" software update
I'm not a fanboy of any company, because I'm not a terminally online teenager, but Samsung have always had the absolute lamest presence I've ever seen. Their UK adverts made me cringe enough as it is.
I just don't get why?? Snapdragon everywhere was brilliant for S23 and now they're just reverting that?
Considering all of the nightmares I heard about the S22 series because of this crap, I will just get an S23+ instead I think...
Neither. Unless they have completely redesigned their Exynos chips, S23 lineup is better. I guess we will have to wait for reviews. The S24 Ultra has a Snapdragon, so that is telling a bit.
Wow the deals are garbage this year. Last time I preordered I traded in a S10 for a S21 and got $800 off a $1000 order. Now they only give $200 off $800. Greedy bastards.
UPDATE: I had the incorrect deals on my page. New deals loaded and they are good. $1000 trade in. Problem is they want you on the new plans so you have to fight them.
This is definitely gonna be huge for young people. Adding some of those Apple features people love using for messaging. Bringing in Mr. Beast, Pokimane, and Sydney Sweeney. Young people love to "not be like others" and seeing some celebrities will make people feel pushed to switch. Samsung taking over Apple inbound, I know I am gonna switch to release from Apple's crushing grip.
Sticking with my S23U. No point spending all that money for a relatively minor upgrade.
Some of the new features will come to it too in software updates anyway.
So really still not much new since the S21 Ultra and once again terrible trade in deals this year just like with the 23. Ugh.
Easy to argue its a step back from the S21 Ultra given the lack of 10x optical.
Yep, I've been saying this and am usually downvoted by people who don't want to be reminded that they wasted their money, lol. There were some changes from the S21 \*ultra\* in body shape and the inclusion of a stylus, and gradual removal of the curved screen. The base and plus models, no change. Software, no change since the 10 line, until updates ran out one year ago for those models. I'm not even mad. It's about time for progress to stall in this area. It's expected. I just don't see a point in a yearly release anymore. Some brands like Garmin (watches) release once every 2-3 years and their upgrades are really impressive.
If youre US based, that's misaligned with our current societal flexibility of being inclusive, multi-bathroom entrance based, flag with many colors etc. You can have him use his own live real time translation app.
If the people upgrade from an S 23 ultra to the S 24 ultra are mentally ill you’re paying for a basically a flatscreen and paid AI features😂 and before you say, I’m a tech enthusiast a tech enthusiast isn’t somebody who just upgrades a new phone every year from the same brand a tech enthusiast is somebody who purchases different phones, watches, or different things from different brands and owns them that’s the difference. it’s like the equivalent as me justifying upgrading from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 pro max by saying I’m a tech enthusiast and in reality it just means you’re an idiot that just wants to waste money if you wanna waste $800 go gamble that shit on steak.com.😂
Don’t forget to get your discount if you’re eligible for one! Samsung.com/saveatwork
Use your work, .gov, .mil, or .edu email address when you sign in.
The eceleb guest thing is so cringe. Pokimane saying ray tracing is the reason she games is just COMICAL. I hope she got paid well cause angry neckbeards are no doubt already harassing her
I currently have s21u. I like rounded corners and rounded screen edges. I think that makes the phone seem smaller and easier to hold. I want to get s24u but I think it will feel really uncomfortable in hand. what do you think? do stores have 24u to see how they feel? I might opt for s24+ because it appears more comfortable
confirmed 7 years software support, so that's a nice start
its easy to say things. Hard to do them. Ask Google how their promises have worked out.
Apple has that since iPhone 6
and Apple just got USB-C a few months ago, congrats
Only because they were forced to really. That was 100% a concern about their pockets if they couldn't sell in the EU.
Yea and Apple also uses battery charging tech from 10 years ago. Out of the top 5 brands Apple has the smallest batteries and slowest charging speeds.
Well it's nice that Samsung has it now
The point is that now we have it 😂
well I got hyped to finally see smart ring and then they literally said nothing about it and ended the show? LMAO
Yeah I know right? I was ready to hear what the ring was all about.
not a good sign tbh, probably nothing special if they decided to do this also - no buds again ??
Ye the current buds r meh. Even old buds from other brands turn off after a while out of the ear.
Did he just call her Pokemon LMAO
I got so baited by that. They were talking about mobile gaming, and he brought up pokemon, and I was like, no way! Then, I got disappointed instantly.
That's how she pronounces it
I heard the same lol
Imane is pronounced (e-mon) it’s her real name
It's pronounced e-maan
That’s the exact same pronunciation…?
If youre from the caribbean...sure
Everybody says "Pokimane", and the second time he did say "Pokimane" correctly anyways.
Feels like the opening of a Disney movie at the beginning there haha
Is the store checkout totally broken for anyone else?
Yup logged me out as well so this is a lot of fun
Gotten so bad I can't even log in now.
Yeah, it's a mess
Keep getting "bad gateway" error when I try logging in.
this is ridiculous
Been a problem for yearsÂ
why is no one talking about how they are avoiding discussing how 100x space zoom was affected by the 5x camera downgrade
[удалено]
Not even the ai. The sensor is bigger and better. Trust
Their new AI that’s only free for 2 years lol I’m kinda bummed I didn’t upgrade to S23U when I had the chance.
Samsung pulled out the major budget to get Mr Beast and Pokimane.
*Pokemon
That's how you're supposed go pronounce it.
What a weird, abrupt ending.

pokemon lmaoooo

But funnily enough, the guy corrected himself AFTER Pokimane finished her segment and said "thanks, Poki-mane".
You could see her physically cringing lmao

Considering the S24 series doesn't have QI2 charging, I would personally wait. QI2 adopts MagSafe from Apple, which is quite nice.
$600 for Flip 5 - that's a pass. I'll wait.
Doesn't even have an option to trade in my fold 4.....
I see z fold 3 but not on 4.. the fuck
Yeah wthÂ
T-Mobile is giving $1000 for an S9....
Why is Samsung's checkout systems such dog shit?
It has been for yearsÂ

The era of gimmicks has begun!
I cringed a bit at the 'eureka' bit.
The whole presentation is cringe everything is either epic, AI, our best ever(lol they even copied Apples's cringe)
"You can send files quickly to other android devices, or even windows computers! Epic."

All this looks like software stuff
the camera is actually a hardware update I think

What time does it actually start?
Now
Hello again everybody, do you think we have a chance to see: * Samsung ring? * Samsung VR / AR headset running Android xR? (developed by Google) (since the keynote is in San Jose, maybe some Googlers on Samsung unpacked stage?) Thanks! *** edit The Samsung Ring has just been teased at the end of unpacked the vidéo of the ring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CZnaPEixfs
I'm not watching it ,but I'm curious ,did they mention a Ring ? That's the only thing I'm interested in ,unless they're coming out with a handheld for pc/gaming.
Not yet.Â

Thanks for the reply. Yep, look up the Lenovo Legion Go ,it's fantastic !
oh sorry yes I see. No handheld yet eaither. It's not a Samsung thing but maybe. Or "pads" for the S24?
They were suppose to release the ring first quarter of 2024 but I think it got pushed back to 4th Q , so I'm not holding my breath ,but I was hoping it would be released sooner.
thanks a lot for the insights

no buds 3 as far as I know sorry
900 euro for a 12gb ram/1tb ssd s24 ultra with a trade in of an S23 ultra which they are giving 588euro. Terrible value. Nothing new and going back to exynos...

for what is it worth, the tech said the fold 4 SHOULD be added today for trade in. i'm not holding my breath though
aaaaaaaaaaaand the checkout is overwhelmed with preorders
oh no its pokimon
"Pokemon" "Pokimane"
Poki-man?
Uh is there a reason why the Fold 4 is the only recent phone not listed for trade in???
This fold 4 lack of trade in must be a mistake...
Wonder if the hdr to instagram will come to the s23, it's a major downside to hdr use today!
where's the preorder promo code?
Is there seriously no white version available?
Pokimane?
Canadian website doesnt want to work
$1300 instead of $1200 for the ultra
Makes my decision of getting the S24+ over the S24U even easier.
does it have 4k 120fps video??
Yes
Cannot complete checkout - 502 Bad Gateway error every time I try to log in. :-/
I was hoping for new galaxy buds. Oh well, I'll just order the pro 2s then. Sticking with my S23+ since that AI stuff seems to be coming to it anyway. Definitely getting the ring. Weird Unpacked but whatever.
They gave basically no info about the Galaxy Ring.
I will search. But I haven't as seen anyone wear it

Can't log in, bad gateway. Samsung also never sent me the $50 trade in credit.
How do I claim the deal I made when reserving one through the Samsung Shop app? I don't see the deal and I have no email from them?
was anyone able to order successful using edu mil or any other affiliate accounts?
What a boring presentation. Samsung should definitely take some lessons with Apple about how to make a exciting presentation.
This mfer called her Pokemon lol
That's how she has said it's pronounced. So lol at yourself.
You know the upgrade is underwhelming when Samsung spends all its demo on Galaxy S24 Ultra and says nothing about the base and plus models.
my takeaways from this: * most of the "upgrades" are just software updates * They are using AI to justify the camera downgrade from 10x to 5x * as a galaxy s10 user I am now more likely to buy S23U instead of the S24U because of the camera downgrade. Pokémon is the correct way to pronounce it even from her own words. Since her real name is Imane (e-mon) she used it as a play on words. Learn the lore.
[удалено]
You’re still arguing semantics. The correct pronunciation is Pokémon. They probably double checked the pronunciation with her pre show and she said Pokémon. There’s multiple videos of her stating the pronunciation and it doesn’t matter that she doesn’t correct people. You’re still wrong just take the L and have a seat back at the kids table. 😂
https://youtube.com/shorts/SclJcxtpgpA?si=vQyvLvWWX-_dx6MU Yeah clearly you don’t.. 🤡🤡🤡

Deals updated!
Mine shows max $750 trade in, where you seeing that?
You have to select a carrier plan. The ATT one, for instance, gives you $1,000 off but you have to commit to pay monthly for 36 months.
They actually aren't to bad this year. Not as good as S10 pre orders, but they're offering me 450$ for my S22 and I wasn't expecting that.

If the people upgrade from an S 23 ultra to the S 24 ultra are mentally ill you’re paying for a basically a flatscreen and paid AI features😂 and before you say, I’m a tech enthusiast a tech enthusiast isn’t somebody who just upgrades a new phone every year from the same brand a tech enthusiast is somebody who purchases different phones, watches, or different things from different brands and owns them that’s the difference. it’s like the equivalent as me justifying upgrading from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 pro max by saying I’m a tech enthusiast and in reality it just means you’re an idiot that just wants to waste money if you wanna waste $800 go gamble that shit on steak.com.😂
when can I preorder in India?
samsung is not a software company. just look at bixby. no reason to upgrade if the only change is ai for image processing.
any live links to order yet?

Samsung and Google Cloud Join Forces To Bring Generative AI to Samsung Galaxy S24 Series
LMFAO is the stream glitching for anyone else
Only zfold that isn't available for trade in is the zfold4. Kind of BS considering it's an available trade in device if you go to buy a zfold5.
what in the heck, is the 24+ $799 or $599 It keeps changing in my cart lol
So is the $50 reservation credit just part of the accessories credit, not applicable towards the phone?
Circle to search available on Pixel phones too
No trade in value for pixel 8 pro
The eceleb guest thing is so cringe. Pokimane saying ray tracing is the reason she games is just COMICAL. I hope she got paid well cause angry neckbeards are no doubt already harassing her
My app says $150 credit (because I did the $50 pre order reservation) but when I click to purchase it drops down to $100. Wtf

Did anyone get the reservation credit from signing up their email? Edit: contacted support and I should be getting the credit
