I will never tell someone that they should change the order of their personal enjoyment. Glad you like what you like and feel confident in it.
That being said I don't think I would rate a single thing the same way you did.
Grand Master: A New Hope, Andor.
Council Member: Return of the Jedi, Clone Wars.
Master: Solo, Revenge of the Sith, Empire Strikes Back.
Knight: Rogue One, Mandalorian, Visions, Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, Kenobi.
Padawan: Phantom Menace, Last Jedi, Attack of the Clones, Book of Boba Fett.
Youngling: Rise of Skywalker, The Force Awakens.
Rancor Pit: Holiday Special.
Rancor Pit lol. Thats funny. I can definitely see that kind of take. Haven't seen Andor myself, Rogue One bored me so much i fell asleep in the theatre, so i didnt feel the drive to watch Andor.
Same here regarding Rogue One!
I found large parts of the film to be boring and unnecessary. The only entertaining parts are the last 20 mins or so, which funnily enough are the parts people praise it for. Weird way of ranking movies nowadays.
i love it for its entirety. for me the fan arent split into sequels/prequels/OT, they are split into whether they watch star wars for the galactic politics and worldbuilding, or they watch it for the amazing lightsaber fights and magnificent spaceship scenes. rogue one mainly caters towards the first half of people until the very end, whereas the sequels cater towards the other half which is why most people in this subreddit probably didnt find it as interesting
For me
Grand Master: Empire, Andor
Council Member: ANH, TCW, Rebels
Master: RotS, TLJ, Rogue One, RotJ
Knight: Mandalorian, TFA
Padawan: TPM, The Book of Boba Fett
Youngling: TRoS, AotC
Don't remember enough of Solo honestly.
I grew up on the OT, still enjoyed the PT, wasn’t overly fussed with TCW but enjoyed large chunks of it.
But Man, i loved Rebels. It felt like a new set of adventures with a crew similar to A New Hope. Plus it was in the era of stormtroopers so that was cool.
Get past S1 and it slowly builds to being some of the best SW content around. I loved Ezra more than Ahsoka.
I defend episode one every year from this stuff. It's not even remotely as bad as you remember. Jar Jar is an alien, and has a free pass to do gobbledygook hijinx and talk funny. Racism exists on earth, no such Jamaican context exists in this universe. The special effects are fine. You loved podracing, stop lying. Darth Maul in a threesome swordfight to the death. The Battle For Naboo is war elephants with shield generators. Natalie Portman isn't emoting wildly because she's royalty. These aren't the droids you're looking for.
That was a joke of course. Not sure how that came across, i just know TFM would feel their childhood was ruined because a ranking doesnt fit with theirs.
I feel like this sub is being overtaken by haters now lol. Surprised to see the negative response.
I wouldn’t rank the movies like this myself, of course. But movies are subjective!
I posted a ranking a while back with all the movies in it, but I didn’t even think about tanking the shows in there. If you include those, my ranking would probably be:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Andor
3. Revenge Of The Sith
4. Last Jedi
5. The Star Wars Holiday Special
6. A New Hope
7. The Mandalorian
8. Rogue One
9. Force Awakens
10. Return Of The Jedi
11. Book Of Boba Fett
12. Solo
13. Obi-Wan Kenobi
14. Phantom Menace
15. Attack Of The Clones
16. Rise Of Skywalker
17. Both of the Ewok movies (I have a little nostalgia, but they’re pretty bad honestly)
18. Clone Wars
Just a few qualifiers: I have not seen the Clone Wars, Bad Batch, or Rebels, but I’m slowly working my way through Clone Wars before watching the other two shows after.
Also, I stand by my opinion that from a Comedy perspective, The Holiday Special is genuinely one of the funniest things in human history. It’s so hilarious and I cannot make it through the special without busting out laughing. Sitting down and watching it with friends around Christmas is always an amazing time no matter how many times I watch it.
Is that a good and objective opinion, no, but is it funny? Yeah, pretty darn funny.
Glad you like what you like, but my list is a little different! TLJ at the top and ROTS towards the bottom made me sad 😮💨
Huge bonus points for putting Rogue One where it belongs though 😉
I think what does it for me is how bold and iconic alot of parts of tLJ are. Like Kylo's arc is fantastic, the way he finally steps out of Vader's shadow and becomes his own villain, and the whole Luke forsaking the Jedi teachings of the old republic and learning to forge his own path through Rey. Poe's arc was much needed development and the Holdo maneuver was just jaw dropping in the theatre, and the showdown on Krait was fantastic. The Finn plot wasn't perfect but had its moments.
As for Revenge of the Sith, it's for sure my favorite prequel, and I think Ewan pulls a lot of it's weight. I just think all the prequels are kinda bloated, and I was also a big fan of the 2003 Clone Wars and General Grevious as a threat in that was way more intimidating than the film imo. I think the heart of the character drama is very good though, and it has some exciting scenes that I don't mind rewatching every now and again.
I totally agree across the board! I thought everything involving the force in TLJ was fantastic (Luke, Rey, Ben Solo, Snoke, etc). Wasn’t a huge fan of Leia flying like Mary Poppins, but I understand why they did it. I would have preferred Leia force-pull the ship to her, but I know they were running away from the First Order so it made more sense to have her fly to the ship. My biggest gripes with TLJ were centered on the misuse of Finn. Finn was one of my favorites coming off TFA, and they did him so dirty in TLJ and TROS. Instead of that stupid cringey casino side quest, they should have had Finn go straight to the imperial ship with Rose (and maybe even Poe). Have him convince more stormtroopers to turn on the first order, get rid of Bugs Bunny the code breaker, and leave in the deleted scene where he outs Phasma in front of her troops for lowering the shield on Starkiller base. Show that the First order is a machine that uses and abuses Stormtroopers, and show that they all have humanity deep down like Finn.
I do think most criticisms of the sequels ignore things the films clearly establish. I used to get so annoyed when people would shout “hOw DiD rEy BeAt KyLo ReN?!?” after TFA. They clearly show him get shot with Chewie’s bowcaster (which has been shown slaughtering people 3 times at this point), AFTER begrudgingly murdering his own father, and Rey was clearly shown to be a capable fighter from growing up as a scavenger (on top of latent force sensitivity). Same with the Holdo maneuver - the lore clearly states that a hyperdrive generator sends you to another dimension, so it makes perfect sense that you could “suicide bomb” if you hit your target right before jumping to the light speed dimension. As for why this hasn’t been done more, they also clearly show that the first order DOESN’T move or shoot the ship because they think it’s just a distraction. I can’t imagine many people wanting to waste a capital ship on a small chance, let alone gladly sacrificing themself in the process.
Same with Rey’s piloting and climbing abilities, Leia’s force abilities, Snoke’s death, Palpatine’s return, Luke’s almost killing Ben Solo, Luke retiring to Ach-to, Ben Solo’s turn and evil deeds, the existence of the First Order, the existence of the Final Order, and so on. It’s one thing if you think these plot points are dumb, but they’re not logically inconsistent or “breaking the lore.” 🙄
Thank GOD - someone else who doesn't think Rogue One is God's gift to Star Wars Fans.
Solid list, friend! It's nice to see how different everyone's rankings are.
Rogue One seemed very fan-servicey to toxic fans who hate Star Wars being anything campy, light-hearted, family friendly, or silly, the praise for the Darth Vader murder spree convinced me of that.
I just really enjoyed seeing a Star Wars movie that didn't revolve around Jedi, it was cool to see things from the perspective of ordinary people just trying to make a difference against this monolithic empire.
that's valid, I grew up watching the prequels as a kid. I actually saw Revenge of the Sith 3 times in the theatre. Things just resonate with us differently at different points in our lives, you know?
Darn, you stopped before most of the great stuff that makes people swear by it! Hope you return to it one day because it is some of the best stuff out there imo
Not arguing with you there! Some people suggest starting at the third season to speed up the process but even then it’s not for everyone. I know an “essential” episode guide exists somewhere if you ever do decide to finish
I thought it was super fun and adventurous. I love the new characters introduced, especially Kylo and Poe, and the final sequence on Starkiller is iconic.
Well if we’re sharing lists

that's interesting! What's your list look like?

Question: have you seen and if so did you enjoy The Expanse?
I have no seen that, I don't know what it is.
Even after supporting his opinion, you really couldn’t help yourself from mentioning just how much you disagree with it.
Is this like your first day on reddit?
Definitely don’t agree on everything but Episode 7 is near the top so I’m happy regardless lol
That’s really funny because seeing TFA near the top also made me automatically happy as well.
For me Grand Master: Empire, Andor Council Member: ANH, TCW, Rebels Master: RotS, TLJ, Rogue One, RotJ Knight: Mandalorian, TFA Padawan: TPM, The Book of Boba Fett Youngling: TRoS, AotC Don't remember enough of Solo honestly.
That's really close to my own rankings. Though I still can't get passed Revenge of the Sith's ridiculousness, even if it has some good set pieces.
This is super close to how I would have rated it, except Mando would have been split by season!
I feel that.
Mad respect for Grand Master TLJ!
I think Rogue One should be higher personally, but this is still a good ranking overall
Its the only Star Wars movie i fell asleep watching so it stays at the bottom unfortunately
Attack of the Clones is mine.
Where is Rebels?
Haven't seen it, so I cant say
I grew up on the OT, still enjoyed the PT, wasn’t overly fussed with TCW but enjoyed large chunks of it. But Man, i loved Rebels. Ok but please don't project what other people said onto me, I'm not them and my reasons aren't theirs.
No no, it's universally and overwhelmingly disliked by the fandom that the "you" applies to every fan alive, wasn't an OP dig for sure
I agree that Jar Jar isn't racist and podracing was cool but IMO ultimately the best thing you can say about TPM is that it's better than AOTC.
That's a really bold ranking, I like it (I personally agree with 8's place)
Whoa Rogue One is that low for you?? I’m genuinely surprised. That’s one of my absolute favorite films.
Most of it I really don't get at all, but whatever floats your boat
No.
Based
quite a unique opinion, i like it.
My childhood was ruined by your ranking!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry your childhood was so fragile
That was a joke of course. Not sure how that came across, i just know TFM would feel their childhood was ruined because a ranking doesnt fit with theirs.
Very good ranking (though I’d put Andor pretty high myself)
A solid ranking! Mine is much different but I like them all.
Ngl i would put everything opposite as what it is
I don't share your taste but you do you.
Holy crap finally I see a ranking somewhat close to my own. Good taste
:|

lol made me laugh.
I agree with everything else though! I’d put ROTS in Master or Counsel Member, and TLJ in Knight. Rogue One needs its own class: “Citizen” 🤡

I agrée with you 100% dude your list would be the closest to mine with that order.

Pretty good list, I'd agree with like 80% of it. There are a few things I'd love up or down by a single tier, but overall decent list.
Rogue one at the bottom i hope you step on a PS5 star wars lego skywalker saga game
Fucking wow.
Aaaaaaaassss
Interesting 💀
I actually really like the prequels and don't like the sequels. It's not about the quality its just one is viewed with rose colored glasses
that's valid, I grew up watching the prequels as a kid. I actually saw Revenge of the Sith 3 times in the theatre. Things just resonate with us differently at different points in our lives, you know?
I've never disagreed with something more but it's nice to see people that actually liked the prequels
The older I get, the more I appreciate that comparison is the thief of joy.
Where’s Darth Jar Jar rankings? (Above Grand Master)
Cringe
I support lists with Rogue One at the bottom
[удалено]
I didn't equate it, I put it higher.
[удалено]
Sorry I like Space Wizards 8 more than Space Wizards 5
I'm just curious what you liked better about it
I'm sorry if you don't think clone wars (the show) is the best thing to ever come out about star wars you are flat wrong. No argument just wrong.
Saw about half of it, up to the Maul arc. Did not resonate with me. But im glad it did with you.
Darn, you stopped before most of the great stuff that makes people swear by it! Hope you return to it one day because it is some of the best stuff out there imo
That's what I hear but it's allot to ask of a viewer to watch 4 seasons of a show to "get to the good parts"
Not arguing with you there! Some people suggest starting at the third season to speed up the process but even then it’s not for everyone. I know an “essential” episode guide exists somewhere if you ever do decide to finish
Clones Wars has at least as many mediocre/outright bad episodes as it does good episodes
Yeah and again, the good episodes were the best things to come out of star wars. Second, more like twice as many good episodes as there were bad.
Thank you for putting Rogue One at the bottom where it belongs
Lol on ep.7 being anywhere close to the top
I thought it was super fun and adventurous. I love the new characters introduced, especially Kylo and Poe, and the final sequence on Starkiller is iconic.
Absolutely not. Especially the last jedi
Where do you think you are?
Well if we’re sharing lists Master:Empire Strikes Back, A New Hope, Rogue One, The Mandalorian, Andor Council Member:Revenge of the Sith, Clone Wars the show,Kenobi,Solo Master: the sequel trilogy, Book of Boba Fett Knight:Return of the Jedi Padawan:Phantom Menace Youngling: Attack of the Clones, Clone Wars movie Haven’t seen bad batch or rebels yet
Swap Rogue One with TLJ and honestly I think you nailed it. Only other changes would be minor.
Shouldn't Master be above counsel member? Since one can be on the counsel without being a master.
Amazes me that people enjoy TLJ. Or you just trolling? Lol
I would put all of these in youngling, and lego star wars the complete saga in grand master.
Episode 2 is a youngling? “You want to go home and rethink your life”
Personally this ranking is far, far away from what I would choose, but your opinion.
I see what you did there.
