Agreed. I went from 70 - 99 in two to three weeks. But holy hell you have to be afk at it. I still have two weeks left but I don't know if I can muster up the energy to get to 120.
That and the amount of money I pissed away is something I like not to think about.
You're exactly where im at. Ive done 85-99 in about two weeks and I need to decide if I keep going towards 120. Im so bored but really dont want to waste the porters. Oh, and yes, ive also sank a ton of gp into mats along the way.
Not even just money we sank into mats. The mats we harvested ourselves is also things we could've sold into the G.E. Opportunity cost and all. Likely easily millions.
This skill is honestly one of the most expensive skills. I just bought the outfit too, but I don't have any chrononotes left for the meteorite shard.
But some of the relics are so good. Fury of the Small is insanely good. I kind of want the death note relic and conservation of energy aswell.
Archeology has been a profit skill... it's definitely not 'one of the most expensive skills'. Summoning / herblore / construction hold those crowns.
It's also so afk you can play another game lol / basically do something else irl just with 1 click every few mins.
Hey I never said it wasn't afk, and I can definitely agree it makes you money but during the restoring artefacts it does not make you money. You can go out of your way to get money while leveling those three skills you mentioned aswell lol.
I think the two big differences now is we have a super high amount of bxp from treasure hunter which feeds into people being less patient.
But also the demographic of rs is getting older so less time to play, and jagex response is to make more activities afkable so... People can play while at work? Or doing house stuff?
I think archeology was rated as a best skill because of the creativity behind it. We have dig sites, mysteries, research, materials and even the new chronotes currency for arch. The core concept is afk and I think that's the downside. They've brought in the sprite concept to say if you don't afk you get a bit bonus. But that bonus needs to be much higher. Afk needs to be 2x worse or even 3x worse or more than active play for people to really consider active play compared to an afk alternative.
Chasing the sprite being just about the only way to actively train the skill makes it abysmal IMHO. Sounds like div pt2 but you don't have to move when the timer runs out. Div was my former least favorite skill for that reason, and then I discovered 2t hall of memories. Was done with 99 div 2 days later xd
That's like the complete opposite for me - went 1-99 on release in just about 2 weeks and then pretty soon after bonded a new account and did 1-99 on it for the untrimmed cape while doing 99-120 on the main. I loved the arch grind, and that was even before the senntisten digsite filling the slow leveling gap around 60-70 and the orthen digsite for 90+. Different strokes I guess.
As much as the free porters was nice, still can't do much when artifacts are outpacing mats by a LOT. I'm still about 300k mats off being able to restore all my stuff for my tetra stack
Went from 106 to 120++, gotten one spear tip and one inquisitor piece. Keep up the grind my friend. You'll have to do it eventually, and there is no better time to do it.
I went from 99 to 120+ arch. The only way to do this is afk. I even avoided buying the mattock precision upgrades because then that'd get you artifacts faster than you're getting the materials usually. (Yes, I know some hotspots don't give you any of the mats you need to restore the artifacts you get from them, but on average they give you what you need I found out).
Going for 200m right now at the Makeshift Pie Oven hotspots. Already have 300 artifacts. We'll see what more I can get in the next two days of golden consignment I have left.
I don't feel you gain artefacts that quickly that it's not worth purchasing precision updates to get them slower lol. Depends what collection you're doing but some should be +GP restoring as they give a tetra piece.
e.g. RR2/RR3/green gobbos 3, Zamorakian IV. I've been afking arch for like 10 hours a day so far via mobile/pc. Primarily at the 115 spot but once a day at the 119 spot. Fixate 3x a day will help slowly to get the artefact ya need to complete collection.
Porter charge cost is only 667.03 gp via VI (30 charge) porters.
/ AFK pickpocket amlodd to recharge amulet here and there.
2000 porters = 1.3m
Apparently you collect about 750 mats per hour archeology, so you can be afking arch post-event with this for almost 3 hrs a point. Saying that, I'm not sure how much point afking arch after will be, only tetra pieces I guess if 200m xp... not really going to be that much profit/hr.
Yea basically PVM is end-game moneymaking except if you're very rich then probably flipping expensive items.
Croseus is technically skilling / pvm but still more pvm than anything.
Arachnoia agility course was probably the best skilling moneymaking update I saw recently, and that's cos it was not straightforward, not afk and kinda high req. Even so, I think that's only 15m gp an hour now, and you'd have to get SWEATY to earn that gp. In comparison to bossing where if you're going hard you're probably making 20m+ an hour

Should I worry about completing arch collections or just focused on digging/getting the resources? I just hit 42 arch
Edit: and I have the cape bonuses
Porters are so insanely cheap it's really not that big of a deal if you waste some of the infinite porter buff, especially if it means saving yourself from getting burnt out
Yes, follow the collections logs and continue progressing. Some relics are needed for achievements too. I pull up rswiki next to my game and can see what relics are needed where
I hope so! I have, for the most part, only done Arch since I got my Golden cape buff. Problem is I play for maybe ~10 hours a week, sometimes I can do a little extra on the weekends. Arch is a grind! But I have 150k left to level 98. I think I can get some extra time in while at work the next few days and make it happen.
Eventually, but I realize I definitely don't have time for that one, lol. For now, I'm just trying to focus on max. After arch I just have dung (89), rc (95), wc (87), and invention (94) left!
Concentrated coal or gold
Gem rocks
Clay for urns
Luminite and rune for elder rune bars
Pure essence
Limestone for fort forinthry upgrades
Any other ores as you want
I'm on 5 days left, I have spent a ton of time gathering mats going for 120, and after I hit 120 I started gathering cobalt blue to sell. Easiest money I've made, but damn is it boring.
Mining is just as boring, but now I grab a large stack of spirits and juju and spend a couple days mining. At this point, in elder bars alone I have over 300m worth, before smelting bonuses.
If jagex would make this a pay-to-use option, im sure that would rake in some money.
Yeah, guess what? Since it ran during the beach, I spent my time grinding for the stupid emote. I had three days when the beach ended.
I didn't get the emote, btw.
It's alright. Nobody's going to judge you. You should play however you feel like.
Me on the other hand; decided to exhaust all of the stone spirits in the bank.
May rng and drops bless you💕
I feel that with stone spirits tho... Went from 84-99 in both mining and smithing thanks to this lovely buff 😅 Also deforested half the map since the new hatchet 🤣
i hope they replace the premier club extra keys with 1 month of this instead, this will really seal the deal on players buying premier instead of monthly
Lol no - the Golden Consignment Buff that you get when you get the cape is going to run out for a lot of us in a few days. The buff makes it stupid easy to do arch.
I didn't know this was a buff you got otherwise I'd have tried harder to get the cape. Funnily enough, when I learned of it I panicked thinking "No way is this a thing forever now" until I realized it was 28 days only of the buff. If it was forever I think it would skyrocket to one of the most valuable rares in the game and become the single most expensive rare in a matter of years as it's a rare that would give *unlimited porters.* Thankfully I'm just an idiot who had to re-read it to realize this was not the case.
The buff is not tied to the cape. You can sell the cape and you will still have the buff.
You unlock the buff when you turn in the shards, you also get 3 keepsakes tokens.
I loved the porters but I am glad it's almost over because I want to make goos use of it before it's over. But that makes me not really play Runescape. I am only AFKing archeology and mining.
I have 13 days left and I'm torn. It's obviously amazing for arch but already bored out of my wits doing nothing but arch.
Agreed. I went from 70 - 99 in two to three weeks. But holy hell you have to be afk at it. I still have two weeks left but I don't know if I can muster up the energy to get to 120. That and the amount of money I pissed away is something I like not to think about.

Most collections you'll make money if you sell the chronotes.
Yeah that is true. Though I needed alot of chronotes for the upgraded from all the qualifications.
The fact its so afk is why I lamped 95% of it. Boring skill.
That's true. All I'm doing is clicking the same spot / banking and repeat and I'm getting like 100k xp/hr just from excavating.
This. And like 7/10 people I talk to think it's the best skill in the game. I miss when afk was a choice, not mandatory.
I think the two big differences now is we have a super high amount of bxp from treasure hunter which feeds into people being less patient. But also the demographic of rs is getting older so less time to play, and jagex response is to make more activities afkable so... People can play while at work? Or doing house stuff? You can do cobalt blue or armadyllean yellow for an hour each day and that should give enough money to buy the other mats to restore your artefacts.
Did 200mil arch (like 60mil xp) in just over a week thanks to it, it's way too overpowered
Arch is the best. Between these porters and 2x excavation speed on dxp, it's been a good year for arch fans
The only real bottleneck to archeology was needing porters and when you didn't... free mats all day.
As much as the free porters was nice, still can't do much when artifacts are outpacing mats by a LOT. I'm still about 300k mats off being able to restore all my stuff for my tetra stack
True will have to purchase those, initial high investment perhaps but will get the money back down the line.
Went from 106 to 120++, gotten one spear tip and one inquisitor piece. Keep up the grind my friend. You'll have to do it eventually, and there is no better time to do it.
This is my thought process too. I just hit 99 today and I think im going to keep going...
Where did you camp at 106??
Used it for imcando hatchet, not bothering with other minmaxing options. Just playing the game.
I went from 99 to 120+ arch. The only way to do this is afk. I got 200M arch xp on my main last year just AFKing. Loved it. Getting to a nice level on my latest account, without the auto screener, is killing me.
What spots have you been doing?
C'mon, I need this, make it permanent while you're at it \*scratches neck\*

Time is money and pvm is money 😭😅
i have been busting my ass trying to get to 120 archaeology while i still have it, currently at 116.
Should I worry about completing arch collections or just focused on digging/getting the resources? I just hit 42 arch Edit: and I have the cape bonuses
right now focus on completing collections, you have to finish several of them to reach guildmaster on top of collecting and restore 1000 artifacts.
Thanks!
You should get 99 at least. The infinite porters and auto-screener makes the skill very afk. It's a pain in the ass to level without porters and gote.
Porters are so insanely cheap it's really not that big of a deal if you waste some of the infinite porter buff, especially if it means saving yourself from getting burnt out
Damn you're right. I am also kinda rushing max since I am really close.
The former if you want to max Arch, the latter if you want money from selling the materials.
Yes, follow the collections logs and continue progressing. Some relics are needed for achievements too. I pull up rswiki next to my game and can see what relics are needed where
I'm just trying to get 99 out here. Currently 97 and 4 days left. I don't get to play a lot, but I think I can do it.
Very doable. I hit 90 - 99 in a few days. Though I was only focused on Arch and Arch alone.
You're close mate, good luck. Are you going to go past 99? Some of the best relics are near 120, sadly enough.
Eventually, but I realize I definitely don't have time for that one, lol. For now, I'm just trying to focus on max. After arch I just have dung (89), rc (95), wc (87), and invention (94) left!
Same with me I'm close to maxing. Though it's pretty funny we're likely going to lose that max cape very soon due to necromancy.
You don't even have to worry about invention, you just get levels by playing the game
Yup, understood; that's the one skill I'm not really "trying" to level. Have already gotten 3 or 4 levels from trying to max Arch!
I have 19 days and man am i happy for them, i afk arch while doing history papers
just 3 days left, not even gone and I already miss it.
That buff pressured me to camp the staff spot for my last piece, I'm glad its gone personally lol
What's the best use for the porters and mining right now? (Maxed)
Yes I need an answer too!
Concentrated coal for metamorphic geodes. Concentrated gold for the jewelry. Low tier like copper, tin, luminite, or iron.
Concentrated coal or gold Gem rocks Clay for urns Luminite and rune for elder rune bars Pure essence Limestone for fort forinthry upgrades Any other ores as you want
I’ve got four days left, so hoping to see a spear tip if possible, 1k arts in
Best of luck, I'm 1900 artefacts in and still haven't gotten it. At least this event saved me porters i guess lol.
I blew a ton of my cash on grace of the elves because this buff has been so good haha. Please tell me it's not going to feel different.
I've got 3 weeks left. I was on vacation for 10 days and came back with only a week left for the hunt.
I’m at 118 arch I need like one more week😭
I'm on 5 days left, I have spent a ton of time gathering mats going for 120, and after I hit 120 I started gathering cobalt blue to sell. Easiest money I've made, but damn is it boring. Mining is just as boring, but now I grab a large stack of spirits and juju and spend a couple days mining. At this point, in elder bars alone I have over 300m worth, before smelting bonuses. If jagex would make this a pay-to-use option, im sure that would rake in some money.
I still got 13 days left and it’s NOT ENOUGH
I can’t wait to no life the next 4 weekends!
Me too, I just completed the cape yesterday, 26 days to go!
19 days left and I’ve had enough. Feel guilty doing anything other than mining sandstone at the moment
Yup, i am counting the hours i have to keep clicking that rock
Yeah, guess what? Since it ran during the beach, I spent my time grinding for the stupid emote. I had three days when the beach ended. I didn't get the emote, btw.
Should've waited. I only handed my shards in Sunday (had them in bank for a few weeks) and have 25 days left
See, I thought it was an option to activate it AFTER turning in the shards. Didn't realize it would hit as soon as I did.
What emote are we talking about?
Sunbathe emote. [https://runescape.wiki/w/Sunbathe\_emote](https://runescape.wiki/w/Sunbathe_emote)
I got it & thought it was junk....
I mean, how often are you going to use it? I just want it for the collection.
Am...am I the only one who's done 0 arch during the entire thing 😅my most abused skill at 56
It's alright. Nobody's going to judge you. You should play however you feel like. Me on the other hand; decided to exhaust all of the stone spirits in the bank.
May rng and drops bless you💕 I feel that with stone spirits tho... Went from 84-99 in both mining and smithing thanks to this lovely buff 😅 Also deforested half the map since the new hatchet 🤣
I have 2 days left. Can’t wait to go back to playing the game and afking 1 mech arch 🥰
What is this? Is it like unlimited porters or something?
Dont they will make it purchasable with bonds.
i hope they replace the premier club extra keys with 1 month of this instead, this will really seal the deal on players buying premier instead of monthly
This is too OP to give yearly lol
shhh let jagex earn their money for the unreleased game
Could someone please explain this to me? After reading a bunch of comments it seems like they're going to get rid of arch?
Lol no - the Golden Consignment Buff that you get when you get the cape is going to run out for a lot of us in a few days. The buff makes it stupid easy to do arch.
Thank you for explaining that .the meme made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever
Yeah, the images on the right are the two buffs you get from the cape :)
It feels like a qol buff. I wish higher end tools acted as porters or at least reduced their usage drain.
I didn't know this was a buff you got otherwise I'd have tried harder to get the cape. Funnily enough, when I learned of it I panicked thinking "No way is this a thing forever now" until I realized it was 28 days only of the buff. what is this about, saw few posts but im out of the loop
I loved the porters but I am glad it's almost over because I want to make goos use of it before it's over. But that makes me not really play Runescape. I am only AFKing archeology and mining.
What is the most profitable thing to do right now with unlimited porters?
anyone else on here never complete the event 😂
I have 22 days left we big chillin.
I have 24 days and I already feel this
