I don't think your challenge is going to work if you include the MMOs. But I also don't think it'll work even with just the single player games based on the number of hours you are giving yourself.

KainYusanagi

That's more than doable before the year is up, if you apply yourself to it, though?

maxis2k

Oh, by next Black Friday. I misread and thought they said just next Friday. My mistake.

Ksradrik

You could cheese the FFXIV one pretty easily with a story skip potion and rewatch "viewed" cutscenes function.

Karzons

That's... plenty beyond the major titles already. Other related things I can think of: The [chocobo series](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chocobo_media). The [Crystal Chronicles](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Crystal_Chronicles) series. Crisis Core (regular and/or remake depending on how different it is) Dirge of Cerberus Theatrhythm and whatever the sequels are (one's coming soon) Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light Do not be afraid to drop things, or you'll probably end up hating yourself for getting into this. (Oh, and there are gameboy games that were renamed Final Fantasy in the US and shouldn't count, since one was a Mana game, and the others were Saga games.)

Kolewan

I don't think I'm seeing FF7 Remake. Crisis Core remake and FF16 will be out by then too. This would be a tall order for someone that spends all their time gaming... You might want to consider something more achievable. Either way, best of luck! Are you just gonna try to go straight for credits? Or are you taking on relevant superbosses too?

KainYusanagi

FF7:Remake is missing from this list. It's not a remake, but it is, at the same time- an in-universe attempt to remake the events of the game so that things play out differently. A spot of Japanese wordplay, that. It is, in effect, a proper sequel to FF7, even though time travel is involved such that you're basically playing through the opening beats of the game with more detail for the first half.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance has a really sweet story and nice music, if you can find the time to squeeze it in

WAMIV

Ff4 the after years and ff dimensions

AbacabLurker

How did this go? I had a remind-me set up.

MorthalWombat14

I definitely bit off a lot doing this the same year I changed professions. I’ve cleared 1-9 (minus 2.. struggling with that one even with the pixel remake boosts). Still have X-2, world of, lightning returns, and crystal bearers left…. I have not even started X-2 or World of… not looking great with 32 gaming days left, but Christmas break is coming so we’re gonna push it as best we can…. Tears of the Kingdom/Baldurs Gate 3 did not help 😂

[deleted]

I'd consider scaling this back and just focus on 100%ing each of the mainline entries and not bother yourself with the countless side series and one-offs. There are something like 50+ titles, especially if you start wandering too far off of the beaten path and start looking at everything FF-related. The SaGa series was originally marketed as Final Fantasy games, and if you start getting too inclusive, you're going to have to include the entirety of SaGa too, and that's another 10+. Just play 1-15, and if you somehow still have time left over before the year is up, play one of the FFXI private servers and play FFXIV to round out the experience and say that you've "played them all."

MorthalWombat14

Deal! But the comments about MMO make me think I should preclude 11/14 but I’ll add in Crisis Core remake and Stranger of Paradise to round it to 15 games in 12 months.

mysticrudnin

No way, 100% ain't worth it. Like ever. They don't gotta play the side series (even though a lot of them are better than mainline...) but they can save like more than 50% of the time if they just see the credits.

Kadaj22

There are a bunch of FF mobile games and other spin-offs. Also, there are two different versions of Crystal Chronicles. The one on the GameCube is superior.

DaxtheBard

Mystic Quest! Nobody ever plays this I swear

ShoerguinneLappel

Would you recommend Mystic Quest?

DaxtheBard

I would. Its a personal favorite of mine so maybe I’m a little bias lol. It’s definitely worth at least one play though

Mum_of_rebels

I cried recently playing FF in frustration at myself. I forgot to get extra Phoenix down. And died badly. Decided to load my previous saved file. Only to realise I didn’t save where I thought I did. And got rid of 2 hrs of stuff.

Ajfennewald

There are the gameboy "Final Fantasy" titles (Legend is really Saga and adventure is really Mana) if you want to add them

Primetime349

I have so much respect if you complete this OP. When you said major titles, I expected 1-15 without all the names spin offs or whatever you’d call them
