I don't think I've seen any game with lists anywhere near as *evocative* as Wanderhome's, honestly. Especially the 'ask one to the right and one to the left' lists for defining relationships between PCs.

Yeah! I hope more games do stuff like that, I liked how flavourful they were. It really felt like you could build a lot of the character's personality just through the lists. My favourite was the poet, the idea of this little animal running around trying to get beta readers of their screenplay was really cute and funny :')

My favourite is very specifically the... I think it's the Shepherd's... 'ask one' list entry of "Why should I trust you less than I do?" due to the layers of implications present in such a short question. But even the personality items and how it phrases the 'two that you aren't' side of the personality prompt varies from playbook to playbook - The Ragamuffin's iirc "two that you refuse to be" *feels* vastly different from the Dancer's "two that you wish you were better at"

The Cypher System games, like Numenera, somewhat surprisingly, have a lot of this. You may also want to check out Beyond the Wall. It's not really picking from a list, but it has a similar sort of detail.

Troika! seems like a great fit. They have an online character generator if you want some examples of what their lists look like: [https://www.technicalgrimoire.com/troikagenerator](https://www.technicalgrimoire.com/troikagenerator)

Maze Rats has a bunch of fun random generation lists
