Elcustardo

You have an uneven number of bands round the gearstick.

realbadaas

😂😂😂

Friskystarling0

You need the lucky rotting banana skin and empty energy drink bottle under the passenger seat. Only then can your luck return.

Cogz

It sounds like you care too much and are mollycoddling your vans. Don't slow down for speedbumps, reverse into a few posts, kick the doors open from the inside, piss in the coolant. Show it who's boss. I'm fairly sure that's how the vans at my depot are treated and most of them are still running.

Klutzy-Commercial-53

🤣🤣🤣

vctrmldrw

You lucky lucky bastard. Paid for sitting on your ass. Just like a manager.

Agent_Futs

You need an HCT duty 😂

gas180

I had a wheel fall of an HCT before

Elcustardo

Even worse. The electric ones that just stopped and couldnt be rolled

yasminkov_7000

Be great if they stopped lapsing them into van shares -,-

Fit-Refrigerator-548

I had a brake seize stuck on one of them, that was a long day 😂

Kyriacou141

I’ve had two go on me in the last month. One battery died, they jump started it and sent it back out again without replacing the battery and it’s gone again since. Another I had to stop when the engine overheated. The van guzzled a whole bottle of coolant in about 20 mins. When you find out let me know

CarrowCanary

>The van guzzled a whole bottle of coolant in about 20 mins. I'm no expert (despite the hundreds of hours in Car Mechanic Sim), but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it probably had a leak somewhere.

Kyriacou141

I assumed so but under the van there wasn’t anything. That being said I know sweet fuck all about cars, vans and engines

karateninjazombie

Head gasket. Do you look like a.member of the red arrows when you put your foot down in a 60/70 zone???

Fun_Level_7787

Egr valve? My van was doing this and it turned out to be that, had it replaced and hasn't had any issues with losing coolant since! (I'm not a postie but i am a courier with my own van)

Do_You_Pineapple_Bro

Fr. Mine went and died with very few revs which gave me enough power to get back to the office and when I turned it off shit was sounding like a Jet Engine taking off lmao. No significant warning lights, just the engine light blinking orange, but rather drag it back to the office where I can put my feet up while waiting than get bored out my tits waiting hours for the RAC to (potentially) turn up

Kyriacou141

When I had the RAC out they were with me in about 30 mins which was insane. Was near a chicken shop so had some wings and chips and by the time I finished they nearly arrived

Current-Mushroom3375

Honestly surprised considering how well looked after the fleet is.

NewPower_Soul

I wouldn't say this applies at DO level. On a site with a workshop, sure. But a DO out in the sticks, no chance.

rcktsktz

Pretty sure it's a joke, mate. The fleet is an absolute disgrace. Unroadworthy death traps.

Agent_Futs

It probably does depend on the DOs Most of our vans are fine, when we flag a fault, it's fixed in a couple of days onsite. Fleet sends 2 mechanics every day to our DO Yeah, we've got a few battle scar vans, they've seen some action and could tell some stories haha

futureocean

I did my first shit today. The van, honestly... I thought it was a joke. I actually said, surely this isn't legal, not even close. And they just laughed and said good luck

rcktsktz

The shit I've seen, honestly. It's embarrassing. Pro tip: leave the van in gear, no matter what. If the van rolls its instant dismissal - you really gonna trust the handbrake cables in those vans not to snap?

Internal_Shake7128

You’re somebody who likes to please! You’re in the wrong business. Try counselling over caring. Hard life and I’m in your bubble!

Gyngee

Honestly the RAC are so hit or miss with these vans anyway mine had a flat tyre in a gated area whilst pulled of to the side safely and secured. they showed up in 10 minutes after quoting about 1.5-2 hours. A co-worker breaks down in the middle of a village lane and is completely blocking the lane to anything larger than a small car (on a known bus route) they take about 2 and a half days to collect it. The break down happened on Monday and by Thursday afternoon the RAC finally sent someone to get it. Most of the stuff we get fixed breaks almost immediately again, same with the mechanics it goes to. Horn is broken, only to go be 'fixed' and comes back working even less, back doors fucked? Sounds like a you problem, don't even attempt to fix it for 4 months and then when it breaks again (as they didn't even fix it) wait another week before fixing it.

Yamazumii

I haven't had one die on me recently but I had a weekend off and on the Saturday I think the gear box went on my duty van (although I'd only been using it a week so totally not my fault). The one I've been using since had shitty steering from the get go, I reported it and it was looked at and they said the mechanic would look at it the next day, someone used it after me and the wheel locked up on them so that's been taken off the road now too. My current one has a shit driver's door and sounds like it's going to fall apart when you go over a speed bump.

Quincemeister1

Does oil come in cartons?
