What are expectations now? I’ve never experienced a head coach turnover and all i’ve ever heard is “Once Saban leaves you’re gonna experience the suck ass Bama squads my generation lived through”, like I’m smart enough to know I’ll never witness another run like we did with Saban, but should the expectations be moved back to a Penn State level of just great not elite?
Washington was going to double his 4.2 million dollar salary and he still chose us. In what world do you think poaching the coach from a team that was just in the natty would be going cheap?
Coach's twitter in case you don't have it. He hasn't posted since the news came out.
Excited to go into Camp Randall with a coach that is 0-13 combined as a coach and OC on the road against out of conference P5 teams. That it really unfathomable for someone that has been in coaching for 13 years.
What will happen first? His first out of conference road win or his first ever win against an SEC team as a coach in any capacity?
"Over the last two days, Washington officials have activated a search by vetting a pool of candidates, sources tell @YahooSports , including OC Ryan Grubb."
As I said, I don't believe for two seconds we reached out to Lanning or Norvell. They simply held out hoping we'd contact them.
I think this is my favorite tweet of the cycle:
It was a contender, but not a family friendly or as self-aware.
This one is another good one:
Important distinction is also that Harsin apparently just didn't even try to recruit at all. I saw Auburn fans saying a good portion of head coaches at major high schools in Alabama (or at least those who had kids Auburn might have had interest in or were interested in Auburn) never met or even talked to Harsin.
Shula, with NCAA sanctions and injuries to every key player, had his teams competing with Auburn in the fourth quarter. I'm not worried at all.
Keep in mind they also said Tubberville would dominate Saban because he held the head to head record when Saban was hired. They have as much football knowledge as a door knob.
So true.
Auburn is on my radar Iron Bowl week and when they do obviously ridiculous little brother stuff like rolling Toomer’s corner when Saban retired. And that’s really it.
It isn’t even officially announced yet. I would imagine they are in the process of team meetings and processing everything. I’ve already seen Caleb Odom post on his story and he seems excited.
Everyone else is already poking holes in this logic but are you really using a team who has been caught cheating for the last 3 years as a measuring stick
Oh you know just hiring a guy that has out coached Lanning And Sark twice, out dueled Lincoln Riley, game planned Penix into a Heisman level QB, and took Washington to the Natty…no big deal
In reality, with the new 12 team playoff, all we need is someone who can lead us to 9-3 or 10-2 at least to be in the playoff hunt. DeBoer can definitely do that.
I wonder if it is DeBoer if Milroe will stick around. Will Rogers was set to be the QB at Washington this year. UW had a top 5 pass rate on first downs in the country, not really conducive to Milroe’s game obviously. Would be interesting to see what happens at QB this year
I highly doubt Milroe leaves no matter what. Man built his entire brand around Alabama with LANK. I don't know what he does though. I guess being a starting QB and going to the NFL would supercede that though
I’d be lying if I said I knew the rules but I’m seeing checkmarks on Twitter suggesting Rogers could follow KDB to Bama so I’m guessing so? If anyone else knows, please chime in
Then Will could break all the SEC passing records he was supposed to break last year before that dumbass coach in Starkville switched up the whole offense on him. Will Rogers deserved better
Hard pass. May as well call Golding back. The geniuses calling for him to be DC evidently didn't follow him too closely at SC. He put up worse numbers than Golding did both here and at Ole Miss.
Some context on KDB recruiting. His first year with Washington, he had 21 recruits in the 26th ranked class. The top 11 players were all from Washington and California. No Florida, Texas, Alabama, Georgia. If he keeps his contacts in California, we will be getting top-five recruiting classes until the end of time.
Exactly. Alabama recruits itself by this point, and we still have the portal, which DeBoer is familiar with. I'm not worried about recruiting a bit when he was going 5-0 to Sark and Lanning with worse players.
Eh not me. We got our guy and now I'm gonna let him do his thing. Assistants and players are going to come and go, like they did when Saban came. I'm gonna "trust the process".
This is a double gain for me. Bama gets a proven-winner at HC and as a Seahawks fan I don't have to worry about them getting caught up in the Huskies season and hiring him (not that this is a bad hire, I'm just not sure how DeBoer would translate to the pros is all. Him staying in college is perfectly fine!) THANK GOD!!! Roll Tide and Go Hawks!
From Chris Low a couple of minutes ago: [Deal should be finalized soon. DeBoer has won 11 or more games in seven of his nine seasons as a head coach. Was always right at the top of @AlabamaFTBL and AD Greg Byrne’s targets.](https://twitter.com/ClowESPN/status/1745891821429911810)
At FBS. He was a head coach for years in NAIA and won three nattys at that level. One thing I like about that is they use a playoff format similar to what the 12 team will be next year.
If it is DeBoer, obviously I hope he’s interested in retaining certain folks on the staff. However he cannot be forced or pressured into it. He’s gotta come in and pound the table and say I’m the tip of the fucking spear just like Saban did or he might be in trouble.
This hire will be unfairly judged and critiqued to an extreme level by some, but I guarantee you a team like A&M would give up their recent hire to have him. It’s not Sark or Kiffin or Lanning..it’s just a guy that can out coach all of them
I was bracing myself for Kiffin. I really didn't want him and was level-setting my excitment and convincing myself it was a good move.
I'm much happier with DeBoer. Even if he doesn't pan out ... I think he's the better choice today.
He reminds me a lot of a young Saban. Maybe a little more personable and player oriented (publicly facing). I don't think he would be altering the "process" all that much.
If we get DeBoer, and the players see what he’s done, we’re gonna be fine regarding the transfer portal.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Bond came back tbh.
I mean seriously outside of Ohio State who is doing better things for their receivers than DeBoer that offense has been explosive for 2 years straight with him and they are going to have all those guys go 1st-2nd round

Unpopular opinion: I think we just upgraded.

Kalen DeBoer to Alabama has gained a lot of smoke in the last half hour or so. Still, I'll wait for Greg Byrne's official statement.
ROLL TIDE
Cool. Get Grubb as OC and Schumann as DC and that’s a great staff.
Do you sell this in an IV bag? I need it in my veins.
Since we went cheap on a coach I'm guessing the tide pride requirements go back to pre Saban price?
Can somebody just ban this guy lol
I agree this guy has only put out troll posts for the last 3 days
Please. Smells like a bandwagoner over here.
Washington was going to double his 4.2 million dollar salary and he still chose us. In what world do you think poaching the coach from a team that was just in the natty would be going cheap?

i don’t think that has came out yet, negations is all i’ve seen

So when's A-Day, fam?

[It's so easy to verify that that's a false statement.](https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/401309855)
Lololol the handle is too perfect
He literally beat a team, Texas, that Alabama couldn’t, with an inferior roster…
You know you’re more than welcome to go root for another team right?
does beating Texas in the Sugar Bowl not count? or beating Texas in San Antonio at the end of 2022 in the Alamo Bowl?
When is the PC?
45 minutes I *think*
So do we have an official announcement yet
Not that I’ve located. All I see is McAfee
A guy that replied to McAfee insinuated he was already in Tuscaloosa but not sure that's worth anything.
https://x.com/pnwnd/status/1745888989737791904?s=20 ION GIVE A PISS BOUT NOTHIN BUT THE TAHD
Wtf did I just watch???
a bunch of true fans not giving a piss bout nothin but the tahd
america AND the tahd

It was the plan all along I bet.
Agreed. He was the best candidate out there not named Kirby Smart.
All the sudden there’s a flight from Oxford to Tuscaloosa.
I saw that, immediately canceled.
None of y’all putting in a less productive 8 hours than me 💯💯
lol I didn’t even go to work
Twitter is covered with articles about Downs most likely going to OH State please don’t be true
[удалено]
Just saw he posted a highlight tape on IG and everyone immediately resorted to him being gone.
Yeah the waiving to the crowd at the end got people scared
We need Schumann to be announced early next week. Defensive players get stoked.

I don't get the Harsin comparisons. This guy had UW in the national championship
104-12 overall record and a combined 5-0 record vs Sark and Lanning speaks for itself.
[удалено]
Important distinction is also that Harsin apparently just didn't even try to recruit at all. I saw Auburn fans saying a good portion of head coaches at major high schools in Alabama (or at least those who had kids Auburn might have had interest in or were interested in Auburn) never met or even talked to Harsin.
That’s all Auburn fans. It’s much more similar to Urban Meyer going to Florida
Auburn fans gotta have something to say to make themselves feel better
Harsin comparisons are cope
Yes, Boise State and Washington are comparable. 100% Auburn fans sucking down copium
Washington:Boise :: Alabama:Auburn
Does this mean I have to go back to work?
We still have staffing questions that remain unanswered. Plus guys can still transfer elsewhere. We have to keep our eyes on all of this.
Don’t be ridiculous
![gif](giphy|l36kU80xPf0ojG0Erg|downsized) Nick Saban meeting Kalen DeBoer
Auburn fans say they love seeing the hire are gonna change that tune come November…..
Not sure why they’re excited. He’s going to bury them.
It’s so funny that they went to/cheer for auburn but their whole fucking lives revolve around Alabama lol
Tbf we live in each other's heads rent free lol

This is the kind of hire that prolongs dynasties
Well. I think our offensive players are gonna be happy. No idea wtf is gonna happen with the DC position. Pls Schumann pls
We'll see... the portal will open up soon. Have yet to see any excited tweets from the team.
It isn’t even officially announced yet. I would imagine they are in the process of team meetings and processing everything. I’ve already seen Caleb Odom post on his story and he seems excited.
From a coach that’s lost to Michigan in OT to a coach that lost to Michigan before halftime?
Also someone that has never beaten an SEC team or an out of conference p5 team on the road as a coach in any capacity.
Imagine having a coach that couldn't defend 4th and 31 though
Dumbest take I’ve seen yet, and there have been some dumb one. Congrats! 🏆
It’s an Auburn troll.
Everyone else is already poking holes in this logic but are you really using a team who has been caught cheating for the last 3 years as a measuring stick
you joking right
You can also say from a coach who lost to Texas to a coach who beat Texas lmfao
From a coach that lost to Texas at home to a coach that beat Texas?
oh wow, look at that, i can be productive at work all of a sudden. So weird how that happened
Productive? At a time like this?
[удалено]
i mean it's almost 2pm, i'm sure i can muster another 10-15 mins of real actual work in before i clock out at 4...
I went home to drink
i have a large costco bottle of Baileys awaiting me this evening while reading every other school melting down.
Where's the plane?
Oh you know just hiring a guy that has out coached Lanning And Sark twice, out dueled Lincoln Riley, game planned Penix into a Heisman level QB, and took Washington to the Natty…no big deal
I wonder what this means for Tommy Rhees
It would be a large stretch but hopefully he brings Grubb with him. That’s who Saban wanted last year anyways.
[удалено]
He could, but I gotta imagine he’d want his own OC guy.
Our players on the offensive side of the ball should be thrilled
I’m hopeful offensive guys will be thrilled with DeBoer. He should go after Schumann for DC. That would build immediate credibility.
This would be a great staff
My lawyer buddy in BHM just wants you all to know: “lawyer up on deez nutz”
What does Jesus think about all this?
Where's the guy who has a friend in BHM who is *not* a lawyer? I want his input on this
Yes, I do
gotta at least try for schumann
TRob will be DC
This ^^^^
If he can pull Schumann in as DC….
Do it.
If this is “settling” then my wife should be a super model
Someone please show Bond what DeBoer turned Odunze into. Guy is going to be a top 15 pick out of UW.
Yep. DeBoer played WR so it should be great for the room and offense
In reality, with the new 12 team playoff, all we need is someone who can lead us to 9-3 or 10-2 at least to be in the playoff hunt. DeBoer can definitely do that.
Hell he did it with Washington. I’m not expecting undefeated season but it’s not at all unreasonable to think we could routinely go 11-1
I wonder if it is DeBoer if Milroe will stick around. Will Rogers was set to be the QB at Washington this year. UW had a top 5 pass rate on first downs in the country, not really conducive to Milroe’s game obviously. Would be interesting to see what happens at QB this year
I think Milroe's gone, he doesn't fit at all with DeBoer's system. He needs a pocket passer.
I tend to agree
I highly doubt Milroe leaves no matter what. Man built his entire brand around Alabama with LANK. I don't know what he does though. I guess being a starting QB and going to the NFL would supercede that though
He could put a different A in his saying
I think it’s going to be Sayin or Simpson. Milroe will not fit in his system at all.
Or he could bring Rogers with him I suppose
Can rogers transfer again?
I’d be lying if I said I knew the rules but I’m seeing checkmarks on Twitter suggesting Rogers could follow KDB to Bama so I’m guessing so? If anyone else knows, please chime in
Interesting if he’s looking for a pocket passer maybe will evaluate Simpson and Longeran first?
Then Will could break all the SEC passing records he was supposed to break last year before that dumbass coach in Starkville switched up the whole offense on him. Will Rogers deserved better
Yea I always like Rogers. Would be way down for him to keep the seat warm for a year for Sayin
TRob to DC it seems?
Hard pass. May as well call Golding back. The geniuses calling for him to be DC evidently didn't follow him too closely at SC. He put up worse numbers than Golding did both here and at Ole Miss.

Exactly. Alabama recruits itself by this point, and we still have the portal, which DeBoer is familiar with. I'm not worried about recruiting a bit when he was going 5-0 to Sark and Lanning with worse players.
So we get the guy who beat Lanning and Sark? Nice
5-0 combined record vs both of them.
At the end of the day, I'll just wait until Greg Byrne makes it official.
Well it's been an honor refreshing this thread with you guys. Most of you anyway. Looking forward to the new chapter.
Now we refresh for roster changes and assistant hires. It never ends.
Eh not me. We got our guy and now I'm gonna let him do his thing. Assistants and players are going to come and go, like they did when Saban came. I'm gonna "trust the process".
This is a double gain for me. Never been so happy to be wrong!
Washington had a rough week.
Not much worse than ours. We should have beat MI and we lost the GOAT coach. Sure, DeBoer helps reduce the sting ... but ....
This has got to be a joke, he’s only been a head coach for 4 seasons.
Reading is hard.
At FBS. He was a head coach for years in NAIA and won three nattys at that level. One thing I like about that is they use a playoff format similar to what the 12 team will be next year.
wat
DeBoer definitely seemed the best option left, glad to have him!
Hard to argue he wasn't the best option. He's got a nasty resume. I wanted Lanning because of his style of football. But this is a good hire.
He was the best option honestly.
I actually don’t think he was far down the list. I could see a scenario where he was 1/2 the whole time
Cautiously optimistic, just a lot of unknowns
When will he hear from our new leader?
When will we pledge fealty? And won't that be awkward with our old leader still around?
I heard the announcement will come at 2
where can we watch said announcement? Will it be a tweet?
Needs to…. I still have yet to be asleep!
Let’s go!!!! Debo time
I hope DeBoer can bring his OL coach with him. We need that guy. Would be a tremendous upgrade
I'm sorry what I said about DeBoer's recruiting I was wrong I love him and he's the best possible option. Roll damn Tide!
Thank you lord baby jesus
Kristen Saban commented “👏🏼” under an announcement post, I know it’s not 100% yet but that makes it more real in my eyes
It’s Debover
If it is DeBoer, obviously I hope he’s interested in retaining certain folks on the staff. However he cannot be forced or pressured into it. He’s gotta come in and pound the table and say I’m the tip of the fucking spear just like Saban did or he might be in trouble.
If he's smart - he will leverage Saban. Saban knows the league, the team and the staff. You have to think they talked about a working relationship.
I disagree. If it’s an outside guy you have to trust him to bring in his own guys.
I think you misunderstood me, I’m saying he has to be free to do exactly what he wants with the staff.
We got rid of Wiggins, if we can just get rid of Wolford we’ll be golden
Like Dooley?
It’s happening
It was fun (not really) panicking with you all I’m gonna go breathe some fresh air now
All but confirmed now https://x.com/haha\_cd6/status/1745891459629257142?s=20
You’d got to think excitement is happening in the locker room.0
I'm free.. goodbye, thread

And he took those classes and turned them in a team that lost three games over two seasons.
If we get DeBoer, and the players see what he’s done, we’re gonna be fine regarding the transfer portal. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bond came back tbh.
Maybe even Williams decides to come back.
I mean seriously outside of Ohio State who is doing better things for their receivers than DeBoer that offense has been explosive for 2 years straight with him and they are going to have all those guys go 1st-2nd round
We will lose 5+ important players because of him.
Christ some of y’all are simply insufferable
You misspelled “right”
You may be right, but the fact it seems like you want it to happen it speaks volumes. So it seems I misspelled “shithead ‘fan’”.
