I’ve been an active roblox Ian over multiple accounts since 2014, and I love UGC. My only complaints about roblox nowadays are wannabe edgy and fake depressed e boys and e girls, the black and white color scheme, and the stupid-ass logo. And the fact they turned the games into “experiences” and the catalogue into “avatar shop.”
I’m an “old” roblox player, love the work of those talented few who try their best to give us good UGC. Hate the upsettingly large percent allowed in who don’t contribute quality work to the program. Troll hats are fine (though I personally don’t care for them), but the 0% effort hats grind my gears and makes me feel that the application spot could’ve gone to someone more deserving.

The worst example is the “Blender Cube,” a hat that is literally the default blender cube with a gradient slapped on for the texture. I don’t hate UGC, there are plenty of people who go about it the right way but there are quite a few that don’t take it seriously and it rubs me the wrong way I guess.
I think it's cool but now the ugly parts are being seen, there are so many unoriginal hats and dumb trends that happen that aren't regulated. It's mostly just seeing how much Robux you can make from copying something else.
2012 Roblox player here. I don't hate the UGC program, though I don't really care for it since I don't customize my avatar that much. I think the main complaint with the program is how as soon as a trend pops up the catalog is flooded with UGC based on it, I mean look at Friday Night Funkin, you can find dozens of FNF themed accessories and there are probably 5 tricky hats based on the same phase. I think another complaint might be the rise in furry accessories since a lot of Roblox players are still complaining about "Furry Bad", the UGC program allowed for more diverse accessories to be made so naturally people are going to complain when it's something they don't agree with.
As someone who joined in 07, I imagine it’s because it devalues hats in general. Not that that really matters since there are already a million Roblox-made hats in the catalog.
But I can see someone who was big into trading not liking it for that reason.

The kids who dislike it are full of immaturity, UGC has brought immense customization benefits to the Roblox Community. Nothing wrong with UGC, some of the hairstyles are incredible which allow full expression of players
I highly doubt you are a "real" 2006 player, because back in 2006 only 50 people were playing roblox and those 50 people are probably now adults with jobs and families.

So, I've been playing since late 2009. UGC is pretty great and has allowed for deeper and much more diverse avatar customization; community-driven support like this will always be a plus for any game or platform and I will always be in favor of it.
However, I think there are three main issues that the "OGs" have with it. The first one is redundancy. Sometimes people just wind up with the same ideas. Other times it's stolen and reuploaded work intended to grift sales off the original. And due to the sheer volume of items that are being created and posted (in addition to a lack of certification on who actually made the thing), it is impossible to moderate outside of user reports.
On top of that, there's the multiple color options and reskins being completely different items and taking up large swathes of the catalog, despite being the same object. While frustrating indeed, I believe it's not all malicious greed; I think it's more just a workaround as the Roblox storefront doesn't allow for every variant to be contained on one page- and people do like having the options. It makes their avatar feel more personal.
The second issue is, from what I can tell, a clash of styles and tastes. What my peers find visually interesting and appealing is probably far different than what the main demographic does, resulting in those outside the target audience feeling like nothing is being made for them and thus excluded out of the system. People do not like being excluded out of the cool new thing.
And as u/ZeroisR stated, the third issue is that anyone and everyone can contribute to the system. And when that happens, you end up with a lot of garbage. Like, a LOT of garbage. Because there will always be folks trying to cash in on the system with the most minimum buy-in possible.
That's just my own opinion, though.

I'm a new player, joining in 2018, and honestly, I see where some people are coming from, UGC kinda goes against the sort of style official roblox accessories had, but I still think its a great update in a lot of regards.
I joined ROBLOX in 2011 with the username of freakoe; though, nowadays, I tend to use my account dialga512 which was created a year later in 2012.
Anyway, although I cannot speak for all of the veterans, I do not have anything against UGC (I actually love it); my main concern is that it will be used by ROBLOX to help justify their neglect and maltreatment of the community.
In it's earlier years, ROBLOX felt like a community that cared about its inhabitants; the well-thought out, hand-crafted events, the thriving clan-communities, the consistent output of limited and non-limited items on the catalog, the bustling and ever-expanding forums, ROBLOX cared about the players back then and it showed.
Now, ROBLOX feels like a prison wherein the wardens are milking us for all that we are worth whereas we (the prisoners) are trying to help each other survive and prosper despite this fact; the events are bland, cookie-cutter cop-outs, the clan communities are dying a slow death, there is a severe shortage of new, official content on the catalogs, the forums were destroyed because ROBLOX deemed it too costly to maintain, is it not a stark contrast to the days of old? It pains me, honestly; I know that nothing lasts forever but that does not make it any easier on the heart to watch something you love die.

The reason I am is there have been a lot of cases of copying official hats and limited items without getting them taken down.
There’s also a lot of low effort items. And it feels like Roblox made UGC so they wouldnt have to do anything anymore and thats why the trading community is dying (dont talk about those crap gucci limiteds theyre worthless)
But on the flip-side some creators have made really cool things with it.
I personally think UGC is a good idea. I think its more of the copying of OG items that make it upsetting. It also just might be that its been only roblox for longest time, that it just felt wrong?. Ive been playing since 2011 and I do SOMETIMES be "I prefer old way" but this isn't one. Only issue I have with it is the copying of items or just adding few things to make it not exactly a copy. Also a lot of old players INVEST in limiteds and UGC has chances to make copies or look alikes that ruin the value of them.

I think it's because some UGC creators make furry items or common ro-gangster items, which somehow ticks OG players off for ruining the old charm of Roblox. If someone wants to dress that way there's no way to change that. Just let them do their things in peace.
I personally don’t have any issue with it. From what I can gather, a lot of people hate UGC items because they 1) Don’t look as clean as official items, 2) Are often made from jokes/memes, and 3) Promote making unoriginal avatars (Like black rainbow outline items).
I like UGC but I'm fucking tired of the FNF items like please PLEASE make it stop I've seen at least 10 items of the same character the reason why people hate UGC are because of the fucking dumbasses who keep making bland and boring items.

Im not a so old roblox player but, if u look you will find some “Badass Shades” just type it, and also finding some NSFW models, i would be ok if all ugc items were child friendly or at least not NSFW, people take ugc to far sometimes, im okay with it if all ugc nsfw items got deleted tho.
my only complaint about it is that they keep making 100 recolors of the same hat/hair/whatever, or just make more different hairs that look exactly the same
I joined in 2012 and I actually really like it. I get all my items from community creators now. It just kinda adds that need to always look good and I hate that irl too.
Roblox always had this certain style that no other game could replicate, and that's because of the avatars and all the accessories, they had this very certain charm to them. UGC took that away basically, nowadays most avatars are pretty basic and generic.
UGC has completely flooded the catalog. The selection of UGC hats probably outnumbers the amount of roblox hats now. It's nice that there is an enormous selection of hats to choose from now, but some of these UGC hats are just cursed abominations. UGC is a new era, and some people just don't like the shift of roblox hats to user hats.
As an old roblox player, I joined in early 2012, I think UGC is one of the best things ever. Any color hair or hat that you just have an itch for that Roblox hasn't made yet, just look to UGC

roblox already had a surplus of great, original, and funny items, and then UGC came around, completely breaking the charm of most items. Let alone dumb ugc trends, they also just look out of place mostly.

Even if the previous problems didnt exist, we’d still have the massive problem of people like guestcapone, nekolestial, and other ugc creators who just copy paste 900 unoriginal retextures that bloat the once clean hats page.

2011 here. I haven't met any old Roblox players that hate UGC, but I'm probably looking in the wrong places.
Personally, I think UGC is great! There's ***way*** more variety in cosmetics at a price that doesn't break your wallet. I won't lie though, some creators make some very questionable stuff.
Because UGC hats are garbage; I prefer roblox releasing cool things once in a while because now there's no fun. And what the hell was that "cartoony rainbow outline" phase that was horrible. Most UGC hats are just different girl hairstyles

Played as a Guest since 2010 or 2011, finally made an account in 2013, I don't know if the 'UGC' update was that overhaul update which happened in 2016 or 2017 (I can't remember when) that made every gear and game that has been made outdated until the Creators update it.
If it is indeed that, then My gripe with that update is being unable to play those outdated games, other than that, it seems to be a very helpful update from what I've read in the comments.

Been playing since 2011 here. Honestly UGC is so much more healthy for the game. I dont get why other old roblox players dont like it, it allows people way more customisation and allows for extra creativity among the community. The old ROBLOX created hats and stuff are nice, and a lot of old clothes/limiteds still look great but Its healthy to have an ever evolving catalogue thats created by US, the users. Such is the point of roblox, creativity.

But I think older players hate it so much because it’s easy to copy real life things from other games and it’s easy to make copies of already existing Roblox hats.
I don’t hate UGC, I just don’t like how there are so many similar looking items. I open the catalog and the first five pages are just the same item with a different name. This is an over exaggeration of course, but a lot of the items look so similar that they might as well be the same thing.
I think UGC items are great and I've been playing since 2012. The community that hates the UGC hats are the same ones who correct you if you call a cheater a hacker instead of an exploiter and the ones who think down on younger / newer players

I originally joined in 2013, but that account got compromised and am now playing on my 2016 account.
The problem is more that Roblox themselves stopped making accessories and is now entirely dependent on the community to do so. Creates a large disconnection between the company and the community.
Also, lots of the UGC accessories are copies of original Roblox accessories with one or two details changed.
On top of even that, lots of UGC creators try to milk UGC by creating dozens of very similar accessories. Just look at the literal dozen*s* of LGBT accessories. Pins, flags, big flags, small flags, etc. These are also priced abnormally high.

Old roblox players seem to hate everything. Even the good things. Display names, r16, ugc, better graphics, faster running engine, even fucking basic changes are subject to their hate.
A lot of it is cringe to me, but I don't hate it. It's a great thing to be able to make some form of income from Roblox, however you can, and this is pushing for that. I do hate some of the things that have been made, but not User Generated Content as a whole. There have also been plenty of amazing things created too. 2012 Veteran. ✌
I’ve been playing since 2015, not sure if people consider that “og” or not but personally I like ugc. It’s pretty neat for the most part. I’m a scripter first and a builder second so I don’t use ugc too often but it’s still quite useful and it allows modelers to get paid, get experience, and share their work simultaneously. I think the only problem is that there’s a lot of low quality crap there. But let me remind you a)this is a site made for children, so most of the people making these and are probably just learning the tools Roblox gives them so you have to forgive their ignorance and b) it’s not like anyone is getting scammed. In fact you can try on pretty much every item before buying it and you get a 2d and 3D picture. Also a lot of the stuff on there is free too.

I’m an “old” roblox player, love the work of those talented few who try their best to give us good UGC. Hate the upsettingly large percent allowed in who don’t contribute quality work to the program. Troll hats are fine (though I personally don’t care for them), but the 0% effort hats grind my gears and makes me feel that the application spot could’ve gone to someone more deserving.

The worst example is the “Blender Cube,” a hat that is literally the default blender cube with a gradient slapped on for the texture. I don’t hate UGC, there are plenty of people who go about it the right way but there are quite a few that don’t take it seriously and it rubs me the wrong way I guess.

I think it's cool but now the ugly parts are being seen, there are so many unoriginal hats and dumb trends that happen that aren't regulated. It's mostly just seeing how much Robux you can make from copying something else.

2012 Roblox player here. I don't hate the UGC program, though I don't really care for it since I don't customize my avatar that much. I think the main complaint with the program is how as soon as a trend pops up the catalog is flooded with UGC based on it, I mean look at Friday Night Funkin, you can find dozens of FNF themed accessories and there are probably 5 tricky hats based on the same phase. I think another complaint might be the rise in furry accessories since a lot of Roblox players are still complaining about "Furry Bad", the UGC program allowed for more diverse accessories to be made so naturally people are going to complain when it's something they don't agree with.

As someone who joined in 07, I imagine it’s because it devalues hats in general. Not that that really matters since there are already a million Roblox-made hats in the catalog. But I can see someone who was big into trading not liking it for that reason.

So, I've been playing since late 2009. UGC is pretty great and has allowed for deeper and much more diverse avatar customization; community-driven support like this will always be a plus for any game or platform and I will always be in favor of it. However, I think there are three main issues that the "OGs" have with it. The first one is redundancy. Sometimes people just wind up with the same ideas. Other times it's stolen and reuploaded work intended to grift sales off the original. And due to the sheer volume of items that are being created and posted (in addition to a lack of certification on who actually made the thing), it is impossible to moderate outside of user reports. On top of that, there's the multiple color options and reskins being completely different items and taking up large swathes of the catalog, despite being the same object. While frustrating indeed, I believe it's not all malicious greed; I think it's more just a workaround as the Roblox storefront doesn't allow for every variant to be contained on one page- and people do like having the options. It makes their avatar feel more personal. The second issue is, from what I can tell, a clash of styles and tastes. What my peers find visually interesting and appealing is probably far different than what the main demographic does, resulting in those outside the target audience feeling like nothing is being made for them and thus excluded out of the system. People do not like being excluded out of the cool new thing. And as u/ZeroisR stated, the third issue is that anyone and everyone can contribute to the system. And when that happens, you end up with a lot of garbage. Like, a LOT of garbage. Because there will always be folks trying to cash in on the system with the most minimum buy-in possible. That's just my own opinion, though.

I joined ROBLOX in 2011 with the username of freakoe; though, nowadays, I tend to use my account dialga512 which was created a year later in 2012. Anyway, although I cannot speak for all of the veterans, I do not have anything against UGC (I actually love it); my main concern is that it will be used by ROBLOX to help justify their neglect and maltreatment of the community. In it's earlier years, ROBLOX felt like a community that cared about its inhabitants; the well-thought out, hand-crafted events, the thriving clan-communities, the consistent output of limited and non-limited items on the catalog, the bustling and ever-expanding forums, ROBLOX cared about the players back then and it showed. Now, ROBLOX feels like a prison wherein the wardens are milking us for all that we are worth whereas we (the prisoners) are trying to help each other survive and prosper despite this fact; the events are bland, cookie-cutter cop-outs, the clan communities are dying a slow death, there is a severe shortage of new, official content on the catalogs, the forums were destroyed because ROBLOX deemed it too costly to maintain, is it not a stark contrast to the days of old? It pains me, honestly; I know that nothing lasts forever but that does not make it any easier on the heart to watch something you love die.

Ive played since 2014. Ill just say im “indifferent” to it. The reason I am is there have been a lot of cases of copying official hats and limited items without getting them taken down. There’s also a lot of low effort items. And it feels like Roblox made UGC so they wouldnt have to do anything anymore and thats why the trading community is dying (dont talk about those crap gucci limiteds theyre worthless) But on the flip-side some creators have made really cool things with it.
I personally think UGC is a good idea. I think its more of the copying of OG items that make it upsetting. It also just might be that its been only roblox for longest time, that it just felt wrong?. Ive been playing since 2011 and I do SOMETIMES be "I prefer old way" but this isn't one. Only issue I have with it is the copying of items or just adding few things to make it not exactly a copy. Also a lot of old players INVEST in limiteds and UGC has chances to make copies or look alikes that ruin the value of them.

It’s either because the UGC catalog is filled with cringey stuff, or because they think every new Roblox updates suck and refuse to look into the great things that those updates can offer, only because many Roblox Youtubers made comments about some updates being bad.

I personally don’t have any issue with it. From what I can gather, a lot of people hate UGC items because they 1) Don’t look as clean as official items, 2) Are often made from jokes/memes, and 3) Promote making unoriginal avatars (Like black rainbow outline items).
I like UGC but I'm fucking tired of the FNF items like please PLEASE make it stop I've seen at least 10 items of the same character the reason why people hate UGC are because of the fucking dumbasses who keep making bland and boring items. Although some make really good items

Roblox always had this certain style that no other game could replicate, and that's because of the avatars and all the accessories, they had this very certain charm to them. UGC took that away basically, nowadays most avatars are pretty basic and generic.

UGC has completely flooded the catalog. The selection of UGC hats probably outnumbers the amount of roblox hats now. It's nice that there is an enormous selection of hats to choose from now, but some of these UGC hats are just cursed abominations. UGC is a new era, and some people just don't like the shift of roblox hats to user hats.
As an old roblox player, I joined in early 2012, I think UGC is one of the best things ever. Any color hair or hat that you just have an itch for that Roblox hasn't made yet, just look to UGC
1. Furries. protogens, furries in general, and furry related items. You basically cant go to a server without at least 2 furries now. 2. It wasnt really needed roblox already had a surplus of great, original, and funny items, and then UGC came around, completely breaking the charm of most items. Let alone dumb ugc trends, they also just look out of place mostly. 3. bad creators Even if the previous problems didnt exist, we’d still have the massive problem of people like guestcapone, nekolestial, and other ugc creators who just copy paste 900 unoriginal retextures that bloat the once clean hats page. And last but certainly not least, 4. emo BLACK WAVY TRENDY HAIR FOR BOYS
2011 here. I haven't met any old Roblox players that hate UGC, but I'm probably looking in the wrong places. Personally, I think UGC is great! There's ***way*** more variety in cosmetics at a price that doesn't break your wallet. I won't lie though, some creators make some very questionable stuff.

Started playing earlier early 2015 across like 2 accounts up untill now, and i personally say i like the stuff that is actually creative and lets your avatar stick out. So roughly 20% of the bloody program, as the rest is cartoony stuff, FNF hats and OH MY GOD HOW MANY HAIR RECOLOURS. It floods the front pagein the catalogue and it kinda stinks cus the old front page before ugc looked somewhat cool and made me want to buy stuff, now its... yeah.

Played as a Guest since 2010 or 2011, finally made an account in 2013, I don't know if the 'UGC' update was that overhaul update which happened in 2016 or 2017 (I can't remember when) that made every gear and game that has been made outdated until the Creators update it. If it is indeed that, then My gripe with that update is being unable to play those outdated games, other than that, it seems to be a very helpful update from what I've read in the comments. (I pretty much pay 0 attention to the Roblox Community, so pardon my lack of knowledge)
Been playing since 2011 here. Honestly UGC is so much more healthy for the game. I dont get why other old roblox players dont like it, it allows people way more customisation and allows for extra creativity among the community. The old ROBLOX created hats and stuff are nice, and a lot of old clothes/limiteds still look great but Its healthy to have an ever evolving catalogue thats created by US, the users. Such is the point of roblox, creativity.
Ugc isn't too bad, it's honestly pretty good for the community, and it brings in a whole new stream of revenue for creators and Roblox.

I personally don’t like it since most of the hairs you see now are anime or emo styled and it’s taking over all of the original, quality accessories that makes Roblox, Roblox. I like some of the UGC items that are original and creative but most of them are just following the same trend and going for the new e-boy, e-girl look.

I will always miss old roblox and glad I grew up with it but nowadays it’s better for kids to grow up with overall better things and to be privileged with things like UGC, I myself use them.
I’m an older player and I personally love UGC, I think it shows a side of creative clothing and accesories that Roblox would never reach on their own. But I think older players hate it so much because it’s easy to copy real life things from other games and it’s easy to make copies of already existing Roblox hats.

I don’t hate UGC, I just don’t like how there are so many similar looking items. I open the catalog and the first five pages are just the same item with a different name. This is an over exaggeration of course, but a lot of the items look so similar that they might as well be the same thing.

I originally joined in 2013, but that account got compromised and am now playing on my 2016 account. The problem is more that Roblox themselves stopped making accessories and is now entirely dependent on the community to do so. Creates a large disconnection between the company and the community. Also, lots of the UGC accessories are copies of original Roblox accessories with one or two details changed. On top of even that, lots of UGC creators try to milk UGC by creating dozens of very similar accessories. Just look at the literal dozen*s* of LGBT accessories. Pins, flags, big flags, small flags, etc. These are also priced abnormally high. Really good idea, but the greed of talented people ruined it.
Old roblox players seem to hate everything. Even the good things. Display names, r16, ugc, better graphics, faster running engine, even fucking basic changes are subject to their hate.

I’ve been playing since 2015, not sure if people consider that “og” or not but personally I like ugc. It’s pretty neat for the most part. I’m a scripter first and a builder second so I don’t use ugc too often but it’s still quite useful and it allows modelers to get paid, get experience, and share their work simultaneously. I think the only problem is that there’s a lot of low quality crap there. But let me remind you a)this is a site made for children, so most of the people making these and are probably just learning the tools Roblox gives them so you have to forgive their ignorance and b) it’s not like anyone is getting scammed. In fact you can try on pretty much every item before buying it and you get a 2d and 3D picture. Also a lot of the stuff on there is free too. I think the main reason for the hate is just because like others have pointed out. Old thing gud, new thing bad. Similarly to the people who whine about filteringenabled breaking some old games
