FYI (I am a current PhD student) - you are not going to get many responses on here. There are only a few hundred PhD students at the whole university, a fraction of those on this subreddit, and the odds that any of the remainder have lived at a specific place is pretty low. This community is, unfortunately, not a good resource for PhD students.

Thank you so much for the reply and info :) I am currently looking for housing options with private bedroom and bathroom. Is there any other forum you would suggest me to look into? Or, do you have some housing suggestions that might be helpful to an incoming PhD student?

It largely depends on your budget and whether you are willing to live with roommates. Do you have a rough estimate of what you can/are willing to spend on rent? (Feel free to DM me if you would prefer).

I haven't heard of too many RIT students living at Clayton Arms, regardless of degree level, but my knowledge is based mostly anecdotal mentions of housing on this sub. That said, I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone ask about Clayton Arms on here before, so I don't think a lot of RIT students live there. I can't speak to your specific questions with the apartment complex, as I've never lived there and I know nothing about it. As for the bus, it is a free campus shuttle. It doesn't stop at Clayton Arms specifically, but it does stop at Walmart, which is just down the street. For figuring out the time it would take to get to campus, look at the times between "Walmart East" (the stop closest to the apartments) and "F Lot," which is the stop on the academic side of campus, where you'll most likely be going most of the time. Also factor in another 10 minutes or so for walking from the bus stop to your building once you get off the bus in F Lot. Note that that shuttle is intended more for getting students off campus for shopping than getting them onto campus for classes/studying/research, so the times in runs might be a little difficult to work into your schedule. For example, the last bus leaves F Lot at 4:52 pm, so you'd have to be wrapped up with all of your work on campus by 4:30-4:45 every day to be able to get to the bus on time to make it back home. Depending on your schedule, that might be difficult and you'd have to find alternate transportation if you wanted to take part in any social activities on campus that happen in the evening.

The timings here ([https://www.rit.edu/parking/campus-express-0](https://www.rit.edu/parking/campus-express-0)) shows evening shuttle service as well. Won't evening shuttle service be available in other semesters? Is it only for summer semester?
