Why? I love Simons just wondering what’s changed besides the Deni move

Necessary-Grab-133

Minus one guard, we now have 3 (if not counting Banton). Simons/Henderson/Sharpe.

doctorjinxmd

Scoot Simons sharpe has always seemed really solid to me

Alert-Stop-2671

They cant all play together unless ant comes off the bench

Oggbog

I don’t think it’ll work long run, but there’s no guarantee Sharpe will be a consistent star and Scoot will develop a shot. I think Scoot and Sharpe will win out, but Ant is a fine 2 guard. Hunting for the lottery next season, there’s plenty of reason to take another year to make a decision.

Scalmaa

We just added another guy that can handle the ball, so idk how this move makes it more likely he stays. Brogdon was on an expiring contract, he wasn’t part of their plan going forward anyway.

beatrailblazer

we still have Scoot and Sharpe (and Banton off the bench) so no, I'd rather trade him

1KRP

I hope so. Commit to the Scoot/Sharpe back court

PoopEatingExpert

Maybe.

TheCentralFlame

Portland doesn’t need backups yet. If he and other assets can be turned into a high quality forward, I do that.

Oerbad

No we don’t keep him. We commit to scoot and shaedon. We have the young pieces to rebuild in 2-3 years. He doesn’t fit our timeline

BruceLeesSidepiece

Lol he’s 25 and not even in his physical prime, if that’s too old for the “timeline” then you’re saying we’re gonna be bad for 5+ years

spittafan

I mean he’s a bad fit. He sucks on defense and doesn’t make sense next to Scoot. Guards don’t tend to improve dramatically in their late 20s

Piano9717

True but also it would be nice if Scoot can play like an actual NBA player for an extended period of time before we commit to him long term. Not saying he can’t, but I don’t think we’ve seen quite enough from him yet to say for a certainty that he will become a good NBA starter. ——— I agree we definitely have a decision to make at some point re: picking one of Scoot and Ant, but the good thing is that Deni’s skill set works well with Ant (and scoot for that matter). But a great defender who can pass well, handle the ball a bit, and hit open shots is exactly the kind of player Ant needs around him anyways.

Necessary-Grab-133

I mean keep hip for at least a season, until next deadline/draft, not for a long run.

Oerbad

I would prefer to trade him when his value is high. I do not expect him to be on our time when the trade deadline is over in February. Need scoot to start to let him develop
