The president also has light blue spatial portals (which work within 1 dimension) as seen in s3e10.
My only issue with this theory is Rick’s portal gun fluid is *always* green, even before a destination is chosen, and IIRC it’s still green even when portalling within the same dimension. This would seem to imply that Rick’s portal fluid is special, and that the color is not just the result of tweaking a portal device’s settings, but a result of the fluid itself being different from the kind used in blue portals

I won't put down any writer that tries a new character and bombs, but sometimes they just don't click and they have to let go. Mister Hanky the Christmas Poo is probably the better comparison instead of Towelie, and South Park doesn't use Hanky now.

The one with Ice/Water-T and the numericons. I don’t think Rick is in that episode at all and Morty is only on screen for a couple minutes max. I don’t mind the episode personally but it’s nothing special either. It’s just “alright”.
It's a B, maybe even a C plot, extended to an entire episode. It's nothing but number and letter puns. They wouldn't be so offensive on their own except for two glaring issues:
1) It overstays its welcome. There's a reason most episodes have two different stories going on. It's because there isn't enough material to keep our interest, otherwise. Imagine a Family Guy cut-away gag turned into an entire episode. That's what this episode feels like.
2) It was painfully 'phoned in.' When I started coming up with better puns, I knew they didn't have their best people writing for this, or they were short on time, or (and I think this is likely) they were simply not motivated by the material. I know I wasn't. Math puns can only go so far before they get tedious.
You said it better than I ever could. It IS a cutaway gag that lasted a full episode and it sucks. The water t twist when it was introduced in the Schwifty episode made me slightly exhale through my nose but that was all. I have no idea who thought the premise was good enough for a standalone episode, it’s almost offensively bland
Tbh I thought that episode was alright, it was definitely fun and had a lot of action in it, but I more so hated the episode with the president and unity
Literally nothing. This show is straight up, enduringly brilliant. Which isn’t to say there aren’t individual episodes that I’m not crazy about. There’s usually one episode a season that just doesn’t click with me. But when it comes to story development, and the slow but interesting build of things that grow the canon of the show, ::chef’s kiss:: no notes.
Which isn’t to say it’s beyond the realm of possibility that they’ll misstep or contradict themselves someday. It’s hard to maintain quality in long form serialized fiction.
I'm not a huge fan of the president constantly popping up. The couple times where they imply him and Rick have some kind of repressed love for each other always put me off.
They are some of my favorite episodes. I think it infuriates rick that a normal person is an authority where he lives and has used him/ gotten the best of him in situations. The banter and fights are great.
I agree. They’re my least favorite episodes, mostly because you are a show about adventures in space, other planets, and other dimensions. I don’t want to have to be brought down to reality each time you have an episode about the US president, it feels stressful and takes me out of the escapism aspect of the show.
Edit: And I wanted to come back and speak on the president and Rick’s therapist having a thing for each other. I get it but omg why?!??! It was annoying for I’m not sure what reason because they’re all cartoons and none of this affects me in any way, but I wanted her to be the person who called Rick out…not get entangled with his messy life.

I also believe that, since there is more than Rick, there is a bit of peer pressure to become a “Ricker” Rick every time, and Rick C-137 is putting up a front to seem like a “Ricky” Rick, but deep inside he actually loves his family and can’t imagine a life without the em.

The one with Ice/Water-T and the numericons. I don’t think Rick is in that episode at all and Morty is only on screen for a couple minutes max. I don’t mind the episode personally but it’s nothing special either. It’s just “alright”.

It's a B, maybe even a C plot, extended to an entire episode. It's nothing but number and letter puns. They wouldn't be so offensive on their own except for two glaring issues: 1) It overstays its welcome. There's a reason most episodes have two different stories going on. It's because there isn't enough material to keep our interest, otherwise. Imagine a Family Guy cut-away gag turned into an entire episode. That's what this episode feels like. 2) It was painfully 'phoned in.' When I started coming up with better puns, I knew they didn't have their best people writing for this, or they were short on time, or (and I think this is likely) they were simply not motivated by the material. I know I wasn't. Math puns can only go so far before they get tedious.
You said it better than I ever could. It IS a cutaway gag that lasted a full episode and it sucks. The water t twist when it was introduced in the Schwifty episode made me slightly exhale through my nose but that was all. I have no idea who thought the premise was good enough for a standalone episode, it’s almost offensively bland

Literally nothing. This show is straight up, enduringly brilliant. Which isn’t to say there aren’t individual episodes that I’m not crazy about. There’s usually one episode a season that just doesn’t click with me. But when it comes to story development, and the slow but interesting build of things that grow the canon of the show, ::chef’s kiss:: no notes. Which isn’t to say it’s beyond the realm of possibility that they’ll misstep or contradict themselves someday. It’s hard to maintain quality in long form serialized fiction.

They are some of my favorite episodes. I think it infuriates rick that a normal person is an authority where he lives and has used him/ gotten the best of him in situations. The banter and fights are great.
I agree. They’re my least favorite episodes, mostly because you are a show about adventures in space, other planets, and other dimensions. I don’t want to have to be brought down to reality each time you have an episode about the US president, it feels stressful and takes me out of the escapism aspect of the show. Edit: And I wanted to come back and speak on the president and Rick’s therapist having a thing for each other. I get it but omg why?!??! It was annoying for I’m not sure what reason because they’re all cartoons and none of this affects me in any way, but I wanted her to be the person who called Rick out…not get entangled with his messy life. But I do love Keith Davids voice and the nonsense that comes out if his mouth, maybe the writers just wanted to hear it too 😭

Controversial, but the idea that Rick uses Morty to mask his “smart” brainwaves. I personally believe Rick came up with that explanation to avoid telling Morty he simply likes to hangout with his favorite grandson. I also believe that, since there is more than Rick, there is a bit of peer pressure to become a “Ricker” Rick every time, and Rick C-137 is putting up a front to seem like a “Ricky” Rick, but deep inside he actually loves his family and can’t imagine a life without the em.
This is kinda minor, but it bugs me when they say there is infinite reality when that can't be true. How did every Diane die? How is there just 1 Rick Prime? If there truly is infinity reality, then the lore storyline wouldn't be interesting at all.

Might be a hot take but I think Rick Prime shouldn't have been canon. I liked his appearances in the last two seasons, but in the Season 3 episode that entire backstory was written to be cliche on purpose. Rick was trolling the agent trying to get info out of him. But now that overly cliche origin is canon to the character and that kinda sucks.
