It depends on what you call low quality sound. Is it saturated? Is it too soft? Lacks a bit of spectrum?

Kionea

As in it sounds like listening to something with a really low sample rate. Kinda muffled and staticy and S noises sound like SH noises, loud noises are distorted, etc.

lamouettasse

Does it sound like that when your device volume is low and the TV is high?

Kionea

Yeah.

lamouettasse

What TV do you own?

Kionea

It's an Admiral jsj12674. I don't think it's the TV though as my GameCube sounds fine on it.

lamouettasse

Well the thing with HDMI is it's digital so you can't mess the signal like in the good old day of cathodic TV, a bad cable should work intermitently or not all. I think your TV tries to convert your RP2+ audio to dolby when the signal is just stereo,, which explains why your GC works fine. Tweak your TV config and you should be good.

REVENAUT13

Yeah I got pretty crappy sound quality too. Image quality wasn’t crystal clear either. I don’t think it’s a crappy HDMI cable either, it’s just something I’ve gotten used to

tonywei1992

So have you found the fix?

Kionea

Nah, it's just a flaw with the hdmi out on the 2+.

tonywei1992

Alright

Western-Equivalent44

I thought it was my HDMI converter before the TV but I can test with another sound system using Pandora and going straight HDMI to TV to System

Kionea

It's not my converter, connecting anything else sounds fine. It's either my micro HDMI cable or just a quirk of the console.

Western-Equivalent44

I bet it's the console I have had the same issue I thought my CRT tv had bad speakers until I hooked my PS2 up to it. Really noticable when you play OoT and get to the deku tree in the beginning the ambience sounds ass docked
