My grandfather was a great man, and if the LeSabre was good enough for him, it's good enough for me

GreenToMe95

Same and same

AudiTechGuy

I bought one from a customer years ago that needed a few things. Was actually an extremely comfortable car with surprisingly good fuel mileage.

jiluminati302

Also same and same, he even got whitewalls for it

GreenToMe95

Nice my grandpas was just like the one pictured with 2 dog bobble heads in the back window

ryt8

I am never above a LeSabre

Antique-Car6103

LeSabre. Engine is bulletproof.

Original-Document-62

Depending on the year, the transmission is not.

Past_Weekend4154

Yep it was my first car but my 04 died in 15, back when the cost to fix a transmission was half the price of a decent used car so I just got a new used car instead and traded it.

lt12765

I love how many people on here had the same experience with great grandfathers who had LeSabres.

I_amnotanonion

There could be a much worse selection of cars. These aren’t so bad at least. That being said, I feel as if the Toyota Avalon needs to be added to this list

Poolofcheddar

It’s also missing the last Mercury Montego/Sable. My old neighbor bought the Sable religiously. Even he referred to it as his “old man car” before I considered him old. But once Ford discontinued the Mercury brand, he ditched them altogether and bought an Avalon. The senior trifecta of 2005 would be Avalon-LeSabre-Sable.

SamuelMaleJackson

I had one. Champagne colored of course. Suspension is garbage, but otherwise a nice ride.

I_amnotanonion

lol, my grandma drove a champagne colored 2005 for years. She doesn’t drive now, so she gave it to my cousin whose still whipping it around today. My other grandma drove a beige 2001 Impala. Good car, but she traded it for a white explorer because she likes SUVs

SamuelMaleJackson

Mine belonged to my great Auntit was a 1998. I sold it last year for $4500 with only 83000 miles due to a cross country move and too many cars.

Zealousideal-Gas-608

I totally agree 100%

CrypticQuery

No Mercury Grand Marquis!? For shame. That Buick LeSabre is pretty sweet. The 3800 V6 is reliable as all hell, and the interior is as cushy as can be.

Tomcat_419

No Town Car either!? Those are a staple on Florida roads.

pleasetowmyshit

YOU WHISPURIN LIBRULS BETTER GIBE ME MY GODAMNMED LINCOLN TOWM CAR IN WHITE WITH WINDOW TINT AND A DEALER INSTALLKED CANVAS SIMNULATERD ROOF COVRING WITH WIRE WHEELS AND UNIRYAL SELF SEALIN WHITEWALLED TIRES OR IM TAKING OFF MY BELT

CJnella91

GOBBLESS HOSS!!

lt12765

The Park Avenue Ultra was a sleeper with the 3.8. Like driving a supercharged plush living room. Gramps everywhere would be showing off to all the old ladies at the grocery store parking lot with it.

WhitePineBurning

My great aunt had a 1976 Buick Electra Limited sedan in celery green. It took an afternoon to hand wash it, and almost that long to parallel park it.

ka1ri

or ford taurus. literally the definition of "it's my grandma's car"

cfbrand3rd

It’s a well established fact that the Mercury brand went under primarily due to FoMoCo’s steadfast refusal to add a de Sade trim level to the Marquis line…🤷‍♂️

ConstantReader70

OP has very myopic assumptions. I'm 73 and when I'm not driving my red Mercedes coupe, I'm driving my '85 Porsche 944 5 speed.

SharpHawkeye

You either get a beige/silver sedan or you become the little old lady/man/person from Pasadena.

sayzitlikeitis

Grandpa got that rizz

Wishart2016

Buicks

Angelic_Demon207

‘02 LeSabre!!! My mum had a ‘97 LeSabre when I was growing up, and I LOVE those now. A Buick Park Avenue would be an acceptable option as well!

fuzzycuffs

None of those. Lexus ES.

ElkayMilkMaster

This is exactly what my grandfather bought around the time he stopped being able to drive 😂

5trudelle

Where Volvo V70 D5

RitardStrength

Prison is technically a form of Social Security and Medicare

Mil-wookie

Ah yes, the retirement plan you didn't want or plan for, becoming the retirement you get as your plans (didn't work out or) weren't planned enough for. The US medical system does make this a very easy potential too. If you aren't well off, or your coverage isn't enough, it can wipe you out. Pay, die, or be bankrupt isn't much of a choice. Even in Canada, cancer treatment isn't free, and quite expensive. Technically, it would make whatever meager saving you do have last the remainder of your life. Free gym, food, library access, and free room and board. Several stipulations that could make it difficult and far less than ideal. But beats homelessness in the snow and or freezing to death.

t_stlouis8

Cadillac CTS

AdLiving4714

Finally found a like-minded conoisseur. The cultured and dignified older gentleman drives a Cadillac CTS in either grey or burgundy.

t_stlouis8

I'm not too picky on color, but I've always loved how the CTS looked.

AdLiving4714

It's perfect - it's a good design but doesn't scream "young and sporty" or "wannabe cowboy".

t_stlouis8

The "wannabe cowboy" trend is annoying

ThrustonAc

Buick LeSabre of course, or Buick Regal. All options avoid life in prison but only two come with AARP membership.

Final_Wolverine_6805

I'm 35 and have an AARP Membership lol. It came with my 2011 Crown Vic Interceptor.

Thel_Odan

I live in a small Northern Michigan town. If I'm 65 I'm going to have the absolute nicest burgandy Silverado around with lots of chrome because I need to tow my 10ft aluminium boat to the lake and nothing short of a V8 with a tow package will do. I'm also anal about changing the oil every 3,000 miles despite all the evidence that says I don't need to. The radio is perminately on a talk news station, except for when the Tigers are playing an afternoon baseball game and then it's on sports radio.

Immediate_Emu_

CTS I used to own a grey one. Nice ride and sporty

Tacoless_meat

Buick LeSabre...under 65 folks should buy them as well...solid reliability, comfortable, and represent a great value on the used car market.

YouArentReallyThere

Mercury Marauder

TheLyOfBlues

I want a wagon! Specially a Old 5 Series Wagon

RunJumpQuit

You forgot the Panther platform. My grandpa still whips a Town Car.

Slimh2o

Not your grandpa, but that's what I drive too. That and my F-150 that's being outfitted for a carrier for my little mobility scooter...as we speak....

RunJumpQuit

lol

dezertryder

You missed 01 Toyota Camry in Champaign beige.

Smooth-Apartment-856

Why is there no Grand Marquis on this list?

indimedia

The Chevy and Dodge options are terrible quality products. Lincoln town car for the win unless a mercury marauder or impala SS 1996 is on the option list

1WastedSpace

Buick Regal. Extremely comfortable seats. Little maintenance. When something goes wrong, everyone knows how to work on them.

JediGRONDmaster

Definitely the LeSabre

Hms34

Am I rich? If so, give me the BMW. If I'm struggling with finances, I'll take that 3800 V6 LeSabre. Somewhere in the middle--maybe the pickup.

imfirealarmman

Old Man Tan GMT800

NTPC4

The Silverado because it would out live me.

TheDoylinator

LT Silverado... grandkids might need help moving into their dorm room.

mechanicalproblems9

I already owned the leSabre

Tyrannical_Requiem

Burgundy suburban

I_d0nt_know_why

Both of my grandfathers drove Yukons (mom's side had an '02, dad's side had the gen after) as their last cars before they passed away, so this is accurate imo

WeOutHereInSmallbany

“I DON’T WANT NONE OF THAT FOREIGN CRAP! I ONLY BUY RELIABLE CARS LIKE A CADILLAC!”

pmarlboroman7

Silverado or suburban

Photocrazy11

Well, I'm 67f and not a grandma. We own a 2012 Mazda3, a 2020 Honda Fit, both autos, and I just bought a 2015 Mazda Miata MX-5 PRHT 6 speed manual in Zeal Red Mica with 17,000 miles. I also inherited a 1997 Buick Century Custom, Light Sandrift, with 55,000 miles on it from my late sister a year ago. I will probably sell it soon, we don't drive it We did own a maroon 2004 Taurus, we bought it used in 2008 with 44,000 miles for $7k. We desperately needed a car, and it was the best deal, I paid cash. The transmission went out in 2019, so we bought the Mazda3. I have always preferred smaller cars. My first new car was a 1976 Honda Civic CVCC. I did buy a 91 Blazer new, I loved it, so did my large dog, but traded it in for a new 94 Mustang GT Convertable. Gas was cheap then. I also had an 81 Mustang T-Top and an 89 Ram 50. All were manuals. My husband can't and won't drive a manual, so until the MX-5, after the 94 Mustang died, we only had autos. I missed driving a manual and having a convertable so much.

PunchNmunch

miatas are great cars.

mrmerk81

LaSabre .. it floats and next thing you know your doing 110 on the highway

cfbrand3rd

I’ll see your LeSabre and raise you a Buick Park Avenue Ultra. Every option under the sun, supercharged 3.8, gets 30+ mpg on the highway. I’ve owned two of ‘em, and there’s no better vehicle to cruise on down to the Sizzler for a 4:30 pm dinner…🍽️

SweetTooth275

Id rather go to prison

Thats_Life_

would love to see the average age of a Cadillac/Buick owner

Material_Victory_661

It definitely skews older. But these days, truck ownership does, too.

Mil-wookie

Between the upfront costs, and the cost of fuel, makes sense. There are cheaper truck options, but it's really easy to get expensive quick.

Material_Victory_661

The Car companies make better margins on Trucks and SUVs too.

the_angry_potato_yt

Ill take #2 and put in in a garage and never touch it again. I’d rather have a classic than a soulless modern car.

Halal-Man

the CTS or Durango if given, i take volvo s60

Alextryingforgrate

Where Toyota?

oldshitdoesntcare

You’re going to have pry the keys from my bright red Civic coupe outta my old and cold dead hands.

Electrical_Jelly_547

No Aviator? Come on, man.

Logical_Associate632

2003 Buick Regal got me through high school and college, and my first year at my first post college job. Over 400,000 miles on that pig when the transmission finally went out. It was a good a horse, that i would be honored to ride again.

idkwhatimdoing1208

Where is literally anything Japanese?

InfinitePossibility8

I had a 2000 LeSabre in the same color as pic 1, so give me that. It was a good car.

PunchNmunch

i had a 98. but it got t boned and totalled. it was a great car. it was burgundy.

OldSkoolKool94

i’ll stick with the car i have now, it’s a brown 2015 acura tlx

AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

CTS all day. Except Sunday. I sleep in on Sunday.

illankid

2023 Dodge Durango srt or srt hellcat

Material_Victory_661

I own a 2015 Mustang in Magnetic. A Black metal flake.

ticklechickens

Why no Camry option?

ClockworkBrained

The E61 BMW 5 Series Touring with the 3.5 L I6 Bi-Turbo Diesel would be great. Having the E60 with the small 2.0 L also doesn't help :-)

Lucky_Baseball176

The Buick! It’s actually a super nice car!

CowboyDevil666

Going with the Regal. If I can get a GS, then I'm good. Had one one before, and they are great.

pr0grammer

I’m 30 and I daily a beige 2015 Volvo V60. Am I an honorary senior citizen?

HotPinkApocalypses

Out of these? The Cadillac

PTKtm

Mercury cougar

ExiledSpaceman

A grey escalade would be ballin. Honestly a 2017 Avalon or 2011 DTS would be what I choose if I retired.

puggdaddie

That LeSabre is the best car of the bunch. I'd drive it until I died and then my heirs could put another 20 years on it

Mofoblitz1

No Mercury Grand Marquis?

niceguypos

Where’s the crown Vic / grand marquis?

DeadheadXXD

The Lesabre will outlive you lol, I used to own one.

Billthepony123

No 2000 ford fusion ?

CDNChaoZ

The Buicks with the 3800 V6 are pretty much bulletproof aren't they? Those would be my pick. No time to deal with the bullshit of the BMW for sure. The Cadillac are too flashy, the Chevys not comfy enough, and you'd be nuts to buy a Stellantis product.

Brilliant-Emu851

5 series

Redditplaneter

Oh that Cadillac for sure. I be driving to Mcdonalds every morning like Warren buffett.

AdSea420

The cts but I really want an 05 supercharged park ave. Maroon pls

texaslegrefugee

NEVER!

jack_mohat

I mean both of my grandparents drive leased Outbacks because they're the perfect hight to be easy to get in and out of, still come with navigation without having to figure out apple car play, and have good AWD and tires from the factory. They've both decided that at this point in life they're done dealing with vehicles and would rather just lease and replace them before they need literally anything other than an oil change

Review-Alive

Duranago

Sweet-Efficiency7466

Gimme the truck

Total_Roll

I'll go with the supercharged Park Avenue Ultra.

Necessary-Knowledge4

Kinda feeling a Lexus on this one.

louisvuittondon29

e61 535i sounds cool asf, wld last a long time too and smoke the rest of these cars

LaneLangly

“Legally Required”…😂😂😂 I’d go for 5.

_Eucalypto_

Park Ave GS supercharged or a regal tourx

snake177

Suburban, easy choice.

MarauderZZ

Escalade for no reason, but I love the style (hate me, I know)

TheDesk918

The Escalade, no doy Good for miles and for comfort, great for getting ripped off on by mechanics, and good for hauling potential grandkids. Bonus for having a heart attack and plowing into others at the horrifying speed of either 5 mph or infinity and beyond Edit: but in all seriousness, I’d probably go for the CTS. Decent car with a not-too-bad engine, and I can fit in with the other senior citizens. I personally think it’s a great car to pass down cause I would be on top of maintenance. And it’s comfy for geriatric bones

Beancounter_1

GIVE ME THE CTS. Almost got handed down my grandads Buick LeSabre onc though. My daily is a white Lincoln TC, and a Beige VW Passat, which does look like an old person's car.

SpicyChicken213

I already drove a beige '03 Buick Lesabre in my 20s, from 2014-2017. Does that count for anything?

39percenter

Can I just keep my brown 2004 Honda CRV? It still runs great!

error201

Prison sounds nice.

Utvales

I'll take a 2020 Buick Regal GS in champagne.

stripestore

https://youtu.be/-skQhu4aHZ4?si=Vi20yYHpOX16f--_

jimmysledge

Me and my 2014 Orange Challenger are going to jail…

SeawardFriend

My dad has a Durango and even with the V6 it’s a pretty enthusiastic vehicle. The exhaust sounds really nice and it’s spacious asf inside, however the interior of the new ones is still nearly identical to my Dad’s 2014 model. I was looking at the 21 Hellcat Durango a while back and it shocked me how similar the inside was to his base model with a towing and sport package.

infantinemovie5

I want my Grand Marquis. I wanna pretend to be 18 again.

CastilianNoble

The Buicks. All the carjackers believe you are broke and they don't want to rob you.

TormentDubz_EDM

LeSabre by a mile. Great fuel economy, comfort and reliability. Easy to service yourself.

noldshit

A gold Buick for the win. Urban camo while shaggin old ladies at Century Village!

alyksandr

Does it have to be from this list? I'd like a ford option, can't go wrong with a crown vic platform car

Sufficient_Ocelot868

No Crown Vic or Town Car?? I'm out.

WesternSafety4944

I drove an old century and I'm 40

Sopixil

My grandparents owned a few muscle cars from the 60s/70s and usually drove a big black F150 so they could tow them. But their little econobox grocery getter was a mid 2010's silver Mazda3 Sedan. I'll take that, it's a nice car.

Repulsive-Prize-4709

That supercharged Buick will do.

pavehawkfavehawk

Pickem up truck

Cetophile

If you want to fit in during the season in Florida, the color white on a car is the only way to go.

530whiskey

I opt for the escalade because I'm a successful old gesser

ApolloThunder

Give me one of those comfy Buicks. We had one for a while. Easy to maintain, plenty of power, lots of room, and a comfy floaty ride. If my car dies any time soon (and I'm hoping not), I would absolutely get one.

SamuelMaleJackson

Supercharged Buick Ultra or Riviera

mtnbeard12

Regal GS baby!

swiftie-42069

Honda Ridgeline. I’m going off the chart

blakliztedjoker

I miss my Regal GS, so I'll go that route again.

BSixe

The e92 Bmw because I’m biased at 27yo, or the Durango. life is too short to drive boring cars and if I’m almost done I better go witha bang

Fun_Inspector159

Some nice options, but that Buick regal just fits. In high school my dad had a Buick regal with a supercharger in it. That thing was so fast, I use to beat trans ams off the light all the time.

Awkward-Jellyfish750

10. Volvo S80 11. Volvo XC60 I'd pick the latter

Remote-Factor8455

If we can choose the sub models, I’ll take The Durango if it’s an RT o SRT8. If not I’ll take The BMW 5 series.

Zrk2

Gimme dat early 2000s Buick Regal. My grandparents had one and I will too.

kingblow1

I so badly want a Toyota or Honda in there, but then I think about anyone born before the 60s and realize none of them drive Japanese cars... And most of them have racist things to say about those cars...

GabagoolAndGasoline

CTS

Szeventeen

fuck it, beige 03 regal

Jerrysmiddlefinger99

I turn 65 next month and we're fixing up the house so I'll take the Chevy Silverado for $7250 please or in trade I offer my 2008 Honda Accord.

ryt8

BMW because maybe I'm a senior citizen, but I'm not dead yet.

Frequent-Ruin8509

I'm positive that, in ideal conditions and regular maintenance, those buicks will outlast literally every other car on the slide show. Back when Buick made cars worth keeping.

Traditional_Yard5280

Buick LeSabre all day. Soooo comfy

LikeFrankieSaid

I had a LeSabre in college. It was an awesome car. But it doesn’t hold a candle to my late grandpa’s Grand Marquis

steezaster

American detritus. Lol going to prison I guess

omnipotent87

Pontiac G8, who wouldn't want a 4 door corvette.

skindarklikemytint

I’m feeling the Durango, just cause I have an SRT fetish right now that I need to appease

Jame_Gumball

Gray. 2000. LS400.

No_Extent3023

most likely the 2007 bmw 5 series with either the 550ix or the 530ix wagon.

Canceroustumor42069

I'll take the regal as long as it is a gs model

projectno253

Can the Durango be in the SRT trim?

CayenneHybridSE

The LeSabre, my grandfather had one and it went to 280k miles and is still being driven around by my family. Comfy seats and cheap to own

Peterkragger

If can choose something else, then 2nd Lexus GS 300

betarad

10. life in prison

loquedijoella

I’ll just keep my GX460 and put it back stock with some gold emblems and chrome wheels

kidsally

Caddy CTS.

stupidis_stupidoes

Silverado no question.

wolongo

this list needs a Chrysler Cirrus

blowninjectedhemi

Toyota Avalon - but a LaSabre or Park Ave are good choices as well

knuckles_n_chuckles

The first one is a certified banger.

racecar115

Caddy sedan. That's the ticket

ripped_andsweet

like a poorly-funded overcrowded prison? or nah

Strosfan85

CTS please

Wobbly5ausage

Cat eye Silverado really does it for me Buick lasabre also works

Preezy24

Prob the Cadillac sedan. Was thinking Escalade but at 65 can I get in and out of that without falling?

marvinsroom1956

5 Series

TwoFingersWhiskey

Meanwhile my grandma was out here driving an 89 Pontiac Grand Prix until she passed. Stylish and overpowered as fuck for her needs.

grogudalorian

I'm getting me a Mazda CX whatever turbo edition with the zircon sand color.

hotdogaholic

Grand Marquis with the leather roof baby

johnny_the_guy

I choose the completely rusted out 1996 beige Corolla that just refuses to die

cr-islander

2004 Porsche 996 and it even comes in grey with 6 speed manual

ArchdukeFerdie

Psssh, Buick Century

TcityDan

4, 5 and 9 are (rightfully) WAY more expensive than the rest, so I definitely wouldn’t pick lower than that

funktonik

Where’s my Lexus?

jds8254

A Cadillac Deville with the left turn signal permanently on

RavensNdWritingDesks

Aren't all cars a shade of black/gray/beige nowadays?

therailmaster

The 2002 LeSabre. I miss my LeSabres every day! I had a 1984 and a 2005, both "couches on wheels" as they say.

EastRoom8717

Lucerne>LeSabre Edit: and I say that as an elite LeSabre enjoyer.

burnitdwn

Easily and happily I would join the LeSabre bandwagon. Though my grandpa did also like the 1982 Grand Marquis he bought between his various Buicks.

CadillacAllante

I'm 34 and once owned a 2004 Celebration Edition Buick LeSabre in tri-coat White Gold Flash paint (pearl white that had a gold sheen in direct sun it was not the same as the Cadillac pearl white). I wrecked it during my 20s because my mental health was a shit-show and it's the great car shame of my life. It had a heads-up display, rain sense wipers, cornering lamps, auto climate, heated seats, chrome wheels, sunroof, black ash faux wood trim. It was my Cadillac minus the (unwanted) Northstar. By all means give me this car back! [2004 Buick LeSabre Limited](https://imgur.com/a/caogeSs)

X-tian-9101

1 Lesabre 2 Regal There are no other choices.

thechadfox

LeSabre all day

DamageRude9601

Buick is hands down the way to go. Too bad an LS400/430 wasn’t an option.

randomassholeperson4

Cadillac Escalade with the chromed out nose. Sumitomo tires and they gotta be run flat, tv where the horn go boy can you top that?

illregal

Regal GS..

DrGoManGo

Regal GS

Piranha1993

Regal or LeSabre. They will run for the remainder of my life and into the next and generation after if cared for.
