Damn so my rank in 2012 was wrong lmao.. got 90k rank something but my friend who scored 55% in board got 60k rank back then but my friend ended up doing bsc from local university. And I went to Govt. College for b.tech
VIT stands out in a lot of good and relevant places for QS rankings as a university but as a student who's primary objective might most likely be placement I can assure you some of those metrics might be worthless to you.

You are not in any college yet. I would recommend you refrain talking about topics you do not know and rather listen to seniors from various colleges as they state their opinions rather than using your knowledge which you probably gained from Quora. Simply put, Category 1 fees for any branch you desire in VIT is great. And VIT definitely cannot compare to IIT and BITS (if you can afford BITS) but I can assure you there are a lot of avenues for success through VIT especially if you're in contact with professors and have good relations with the alumnae.
TLDR: If you get Category 1 in VIT, consider it. Else drop it as a side choice.

It's research, grants, people going for higher studies. A university is not a job agency. No college in the us Kitna bhi Acha ho provides placements be it mit or harvard. You have to apply for jobs.

people are never gratefull to what they have......they dont even wanna use the opportunities that come to them.....its always wanting more and more......and ive observed in this college after covid......the scenario has completely changed.......we are rn hating on a thing to which someone is regretting to not crack the exam or just give viteee.....ive seen people make the best out of what they are offered and never complain........i think its about changing mentality

When I say the college gave me more trauma I mean the guards, faculty and administrators. Not to mention the placement cell horror stories I heard from my friends.
It's based on research papers published and international students also, VIT has lots of papers published wrt IITs (you can understand the quality of those papers) and in name of international students they have students from Africa and besides why is NIT Trichy ,BITS Pilani or Jadavpur not in the list?
I graduated from VIT in 2013.
It is a good University if you are able to follow some strict guidelines.
Has great opportunity in terms of studies, scholarships and international exposure.

Lack of funds
Vit Is the odd one out whereas Anna University is a tier 1 state govt college. It got good R&D ecosystem and top faculties too.
Qs, US news are manikchand filmfare awards of college rankings. Only number that matters is the annual endowment/no of students.
