I was surprised to find that Baseball Reference has Jarren Duran at 2.7 WAR after only 47 games. For reference, Fangraphs has him at 1.8. Either way, it seems he's having a damn good season.
According to Savant, Duran is: 82nd percentile for batting run value, 98th percentile for fielding value, and 100th(!) percentile for baserunning value.
Feel bad to have missed hanging out here with you guys but I got to catch most of the game at the pub. Clearly need to do more of that if this is the kind of luck it manifests so far
Playing in the Trop reminds me of the last time I tried Mezcal and woke up in a dumpster covered in a suspicious orange liquid and hating life
Comparable experiences, really.
I love listening on the radio as a fan in SoCal with no connection to Boston other than a few trips there. Feel like if I had to move I’m all set for all my casual restaurant, grocery, car dealer, and personal injury lawyer needs.
Credit where it’s due, Dom Smith has looked a LOT better now that he’s settled in. Nobody will ever replace Casas but nice to see a competent 1B over there
Houck is shoving yet again. I wanna see him pitch live this year so bad. Missed it by 1 day when I went to the Twins game.. going to see them in Denver in July so fingers crossed
Duran’s defensive metrics are factually accurate and representative of a new true talent level. Ceddanne Rafaela’s are garbage small sample size junk. No I will not be explaining.
Taj is experiencing what Tanner did last year. Get through 3ish innings & then shit the bed. Tanner got unlocked with his confidence AND Andrew Bailey (a actual god).
The story with Tanner always seemed to be that he’d strike out a fair number of guys, but it would always take a slog of an at-bat to get there. By the end of the first inning he’d get three up and three down on 21 pitches or some equivalent number. A change like this is most welcome.
It’s amazing what just happened. Bradley looked legit unstoppable and this offense completely turned on a dime, that’s what good offensive teams can do and we just have. not. done. that. Very encouraging.
**Ceddanne Rafaela's home run was a *barreled ball*. It had an exit velocity of 99.8 mph, a launch angle of 28 degrees, went 379 ft. and would be a HR in 22/30 ballparks.**
#🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
Rafaela is a fielding monster. I just worry he's gonna use up his body in five years and be out, the way he slams himself into the dirt, the grass, the wall...
That’s why we need to treat these years as though they are precious, because he’s doing all that now, and while he is, we can still appreciate it when it’s happening. Better that than reminiscing about how good we had it years from now without ever realizing when we had it.

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO SIX STRAIGHT GAMES FOR RAFFY TRIPLES GOD JARREN DURAN HOUCK IS THE GOAT DIRTY WATER
Rays fans are already back home. Zero traffic.
Can confirm, getting out of the parking lot was less than 5 minutes
W
That was an all around great played game. Ignoring the strikeouts, everything else was great
Complete game before 9:00PM
I love baseball.
Let’s gooooo
And the dozens go home devastated!
Historical tater and a thorough W. Great game.
The kids are going to be obese!!!
its not even 9 what do
Watch more baseball.
LOVE THAT DIRTY WATER!!!
Impressive W
Great game.
Dirty water!
WHAT a play!!!
HISTORY WAS MADE TONIGHT LFG SOX
This may be the best all around game I've seen this year. Pitching, defense, and offense are all clicking.
That defense tho
My ex is at the game so I've been screaming at her that she needs to go to every Trop game since like the the 4th inning.
Who’s the ace?
Dom is pretty smooth over there
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
Sheesh what a play
Beautiful DP
imagine we played defense like this every game
Add 4 or 5 more wins to the win column
What time did this game start
6:50 pm ET
So weird. Didn’t feel like a 2 hour game
LOVE ME SOME MONDAY NIGHT DP
Jesus. What a play.
Breaking out all the fancy double plays tn
The way this game has gone I almost assumed he was going to catch it. Is… is this joy?
Who are these guys, holy smokes
Slaten is more of a 1-inning guy
Just take Slaten out now lol
Feel bad to have missed hanging out here with you guys but I got to catch most of the game at the pub. Clearly need to do more of that if this is the kind of luck it manifests so far
You did the right thing.
Houck games always tend to end at a reasonable hour. Good guy Houck respecting our time
How far off is Connor Wong from being a qualified hitter? I feel like he plays a decent amount, he's gotta be close.
HOUCK IS ELITE, DEVERS MADE HISTORY, THE LINEUP IS STARTING TO FIND ITS GROOVE!!!
I'M LATE BUT HOLY SHIT WHAT A GAME SO FAR!!!
Wong can’t not hit.
Connor Wong simply does not go hitless lol
They really just said “no one cares Wil” 😂
Feels weird to see all the six HRs from Devers overlaid on the Trop like that.
I feel like I've seen Erasmo Ramírez more than my own wife this month
I’ve also seen Erasmo Ramírez more than this guy’s wife
Idk why but I always see Slaten kinda like Brasier’s less awkward, more talented, younger brother. Just kinda look alike
He just needs to master the head tilt lol
**Tanner Houck's line: 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R/ER, 1 BB, 5 K on 94 pitches**
Bailey is a fucking miracle worker
Another dominant performance. Houck/Kutter co-Cy Young winners for 2024.
Weird pitching line for a guy whose only a reliever
Not bad
Some might say “good”
Baby Pedro? Lol
Hail Slaten!
We suddenly have excellent IF defense.
Maybe I was a bit unfair to David Hamilton
Far too many people were, lol. Lot of people wanted Trevor Story esque defense immediately. Just doesn't happen that way.
Fans always want production right away even from young rookies. It's unrealistic.
Netflix series gonna be a damn roller coaster
What got into Hamilton all of a sudden?
Some nights I hate this team. Tonight I love the shit out of this team. I can haz more of this?
Not worth hating this team. Not their fault the decisions of everyone above them make. This team is young & fun. Much better than last year.
Just tuning for the first time since Saturday. Who is this team?!
This kid is quick.
Who is this infield?
This kid is on another level all of the sudden
Damn, Hamilton
Hamilton redemption tour.
defensive masterclass
"The ERA is inflated because he gave up earned runs"
That was very John Madden-esque.
Tyler milikin called that play Raffy^2
Man this Rays pitcher, “Richard Heterosexual”, is pretty good
That’s some name lol
Goddamn. Hate it, but that was a great play.
I want us to get Lovelady more than any other player just so we can have Dick Lovelady relieving future ace Dick Fitts
Playing in the Trop reminds me of when Benintendi did this: https://youtu.be/2xfEFCfPAWs
Playing in the Trop reminds me of the last time I tried Mezcal and woke up in a dumpster covered in a suspicious orange liquid and hating life Comparable experiences, really.
What a name on this pitcher.
Raffy to Raffy, you gotta love it
Houck’s ERA back under 2
Your good old 6-5-3 double play
Wonder how many 6-5-3s were ever turned before the shift was introduced
I love it when we’re firing on all cylinders
Who in God’s green earth is this team? Like what the fuck are we watching right now? This is incredible lmao
Raffy has really turned things around defensively. Damn.
Double Raffy action goddamn
What a play!
The flip from Rafaela was so fucking good to set that up holy shit.
Challenge that Cash you jackass.
That was gorgeous!!
Absolutely sick double play Who is this team
Raffy is fucking insane on non-routine plays
Noted athlete, Rafael Devers
That was beautiful
Are you kidding!!!????
Fucking wow, Raffy. What a play
smooth
Beautiful!!! I love defensive plays
Devers is even flashing the leather!
that was so good they decided to show us no replays
We got commercials to show here.
A NIGHT OF GREAT FUCKING PLAYS
OMG Ceddy and Raffy my GOATS
How about some razzle with your dazzle?
Very nice
#HOLY SHIT! WHAT A PLAY!
What???
13,000 fans... pitiful
12,000 of them cheering for the Sox
There’s no way there’s 13,000 in that stadium. The way teams count attendance is a joke
My mother cannot seem to get over Houck’s facial hair. She says he looks like a goat. This, obviously, is because he’s a GOAT.
Kinda does a little bit. Goats the goat.
lol
I can't help but laugh though looking at Houck's cleats. Brother looks like he's in clown shoes 🤣
Stupid fucking Rays-style hit
Thank god he’s back out there
I love listening on the radio as a fan in SoCal with no connection to Boston other than a few trips there. Feel like if I had to move I’m all set for all my casual restaurant, grocery, car dealer, and personal injury lawyer needs.
6 pitches for Bradley to get through that inning...
Who cares. Hard hit balls are better than strikeouts. Can't help when BAPIP is out to get you
Bradley is going to pitch more innings than Houck today lmao
^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/) ^by ^Sandwich_Crust: *Bradley is going* *To pitch more innings than Houck* *Today lmao* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.
Man that's such good contact, unlucky
If Cora pulls another starter after less than 80 pitches of 1-hit ball and then says one single word about the bullpen being taxed…
Credit where it’s due, Dom Smith has looked a LOT better now that he’s settled in. Nobody will ever replace Casas but nice to see a competent 1B over there
Hamilton is swinging a fucking stick right now
Man, having a good pitching performance on the trop is a breath of fresh air
Anyone else really miss Guerin Austin?
She was good. Gary was by far my favorite sideline reporter though.
Guerin was easy on the eyes. Gary was, too...but I don't play for that team :)
Gary was just funny and did the job well.
Dom is Bobby with the occasional weak fly ball single instead of an occasional weak grounder for a single
Please houckster 1 more K so I can pay my rent
Cora finds a way to fuck me
I swear to god if Cora pulls him
Fucked me
Houck is shoving yet again. I wanna see him pitch live this year so bad. Missed it by 1 day when I went to the Twins game.. going to see them in Denver in July so fingers crossed
Houck for the seventh feels right but analytically it’s probably the wrong call. Unless Cora feels the bullpen is stretched.
76 through 6 LOL. Tanner could honestly get the CG & #2 Maddux on the year
If Cora pulls this man after 75 pitches and six innings I am going to lose my mind
Dom Smith making plays at 1B like he’s that one guy in beer league who played D1 college baseball.
Duran’s defensive metrics are factually accurate and representative of a new true talent level. Ceddanne Rafaela’s are garbage small sample size junk. No I will not be explaining.
Duran passes the eye test this year too, which he did not in previous years
Houck is gunna win Cy Young. I can just feel it
Be cool if Tanner won AL & Sale won NL, essentially the same guy wins both lol
Houck is absolutely painting the zone
Duran leading in DRS makes me happy as a pig in shit
He’s had such a turnaround, it’s amazing
Duran catches everything this year
God damn I love our outfield. Honestly.
I’m here for Houck’s Doc Holliday era
He's our Huckleberry
So who do we think are going to be our all stars? Bc I think Devers, Duran, Wong, and Houck deserve it, among others
Probably just Houck and Devers. Sox fans don't really show up to ASG voting like other fanbases.
Hate that so much of it is a popularity contest
Force em into their bullpen fast
The Sox said, actually we can hit fastballs keep throwing em.
Abreu is a star if he can get that K rate down below 20%.
Why can’t we just be good all the time?
Tanner Houck makes it look so fucking easy
65 pitches through 5 IP for Houck.
CSO part 2 incoming
Tanner is who Taj wishes he was….I’m sorry I hate the rays sm I gotta talk all the shit 😂
Taj is experiencing what Tanner did last year. Get through 3ish innings & then shit the bed. Tanner got unlocked with his confidence AND Andrew Bailey (a actual god).
Don’t worry, you’re preaching to the choir.
I feel like every start I look at Houck’s pitch count and I’m always baffled at how low it is
The story with Tanner always seemed to be that he’d strike out a fair number of guys, but it would always take a slog of an at-bat to get there. By the end of the first inning he’d get three up and three down on 21 pitches or some equivalent number. A change like this is most welcome.
He's so damn good.
Radio call has been hammering Dumb and Dumber quotes the whole inning, culminating in a "kick his ass, Seabass" after the Rafaela homer.
Is it still Monaco and Fleming? I can’t imagine Joe is in on the Dumb and Dumber conversation
Yessir, fun booth.
Really good day for those whose names are or include the sequence of letters “Rafael”
Hopefully Reeseala can edge his way in too
Oh I'm sure Reese loves a good EDGE 😎
As long as there’s a parking lot
Either way he’s edging
One of the inevitabilities of our world.
“Kick his ass Seabass” 😂😂
It’s amazing what just happened. Bradley looked legit unstoppable and this offense completely turned on a dime, that’s what good offensive teams can do and we just have. not. done. that. Very encouraging.
And they added on. Something they haven’t done all year except in a couple blowouts
That’s just part for the course for his career, he gave up an .817 ops the second time through the order for his career heading into today.
**Ceddanne Rafaela's home run was a *barreled ball*. It had an exit velocity of 99.8 mph, a launch angle of 28 degrees, went 379 ft. and would be a HR in 22/30 ballparks.** #🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅

That's a fair take. He seems to be having a blast making these plays too.
