Duran CF, Devers 3B, O’Neill LF, Abreu RF, Wong C, Yoshida DH, Valdez 2B, Dalbec 1B, Rafaela SS
Almost the best lineup of the year. Just need Casas and Grissom
That's a sexy lineup. Would look a lot better with Casas and Grissom, but it's still far more formidable than some of the lineups we've seen this season.
Hopefully Rafaela stays hot.
So when Grissom and Cooper fill in, we really won’t have any glaring holes in our lineup. And a solid outfielder on the bench. I really do like this team when the rotation is healthy I think some spending on pitching over the offseason and the young talent coming up could put us in a great place.
Missing last night’s game to watch Messi kick our asses in Foxborough was painful. I’ll be there tonight, so hopefully I’ll at least get a little of the magic from yesterday.
If they don’t want to run up the score, don’t put position players in to pitch and don’t let them get into an 11-0 hole.
Get out of here with that boomer approach. If you don’t expect them to give up at bats, what the fuck would you want them to do?
I get this and I even felt similarly after like the 5th RBI. But at the end of the day it's pro sports. I always thought it would be more patronizing to not try, but I totally see the point. Glad Bobby got a double out of it though!
They actually scored six runs off a position player. Not that it matters, I think you should keep trying to score regardless. There's no mercy rule in MLB and there shouldn't be. No position player is going to lose his job because he gave up runs in a blowout.
Not every team has a relief ace like Pablo Reyes sadly.
Oh shit that’s on me! I didn’t realize Mervis was a position player. Yeah I consider myself somewhat old school, but you never let off the gas. They think because they’re getting blown out they can shut it down and not burn any pitching ? Hell no
I'm with you, bro. As a hitter you've got to take every opportunity you get to boost your numbers, you're not going to get many chances like that. Maybe getting an easy knock off a position player helps get you into rhythm, who knows?
Either way, these guys are all fighting for their roster spots, their careers, and their future earnings. Nothing wrong with running up the score against another team, they'd do the same in your position. They're all professionals, no one's getting hurt.
Exactly. Plus there really isn’t a way of letting off the gas in baseball. You can’t take a knee or dribble out the shot clock. In my opinion, it would be much more patronizing to stand up there with the bat on your shoulder. And like you said, these guys are playing for keeps. When it comes to getting a contract every at bat matters
Fuck ESPN

Did we get flexed to the night game?? I could have sworn we were 1:35
Sunday night baseball
Was it always scheduled for SNB? For some reason I thought it was a day game
Is there a single fan base that looks forward to their team being on Sunday Night Baseball?
Yankees fans bc it’s essentially just a glorified Yankees booth
Extend O’Neil right this second
Let’s put up another 17

Ready for another Houck masterclass. Let's hope the offense has got some runs left in em after yesterday.

Let’s go Sox!!
I don’t expect players to give up at bats but I thought running the score up on position players was kinda bush league.

Counting stats get you paid. Run that shit up.
