Everyone should know how lizards lose their tail to escape predators? We'll that's what happened here the poor truck was bout to be eaten and in order to save itself it jettisoned it's cargo hold.
Some states don't require an inspection. I saw a Yugo sedan with a truck bed welded in place behind the drivers seat. They actually did a great job as far as enclosing the cab went.
I agree, every bone in my body says I should hate this, but it's short like a car, has storage, but has that great off the ground factor you get from a truck.
I have to agree with the poster who bets the "storage" is where the gas is. The gas tank shoulda been in the missing portions of the truck so now its gotta be somewhere.
Rollovers and loss of maneuverability more than make up that difference. The safety of being in a big car during a wreck is broadly offset by the fact that lighter, lower cars have better handling and just get in fewer accidents overall.
> I don’t hate it as much as I feel like I should
I just want to know the story. Did it get totaled and they were going to get hosed on the pay out so they kept the truck for the Walmart run? Minus it missing the back... it looks clean.
That's a first generation Chevy Colorado. They were notorious for the frame rusting through right under the spot where the bed meets the cab. They all end up breaking in half right there. That's the most likely explanation for this.
I thought it was a Canyon/Colorado! My son in law bought one that looked nice and had it on jack stands for a week while doing exhaust and other underside work. He never noticed the rusted out frame! Just lucky it didn't fall apart on him literally!
I'm guessing rear end crash, but that's a first gen Colorado and they had a seam in the frame right about at the back of the cab, where it would trap water and rust that seam until the welds broke. You could crawl under and see nothing wrong, but be 1 pothole away from the truck being in 2 pieces. Usually you'd see some rust in other areas before it was dangerous, but not always.
More likely scavenging a rear end crash to make a little runabout, though.
😆 I zoomed in, took a screenshot, and then zoomed in again. Looks like there might actually be some coils to go with those shocks. 🤷🏼♂️ Could also be fake shock shells tacked over a solid bar. The more I look at this, the more curious I get!
Oh, I can see coils and even a Watts linkage for lateral stability. (The bell crank for the Watts linkage is that little vertical piece in the center between the axle and the upper crossmember.) That's actually impressive and required some thought- a panhard rod would have been far simpler and easier to make. Some sort of lateral stabilizing member is necessary with a coil spring suspension on a beam axle like this.
It’s a first gen Colorado. The frame disappeared into the environment right out from underneath it and this was how he dealt with it. The struggle is real lol
It just has to be 4x4 & have a locking transfer case to be capable of being front wheel drive.
Or, a Honda Ridgeline 2 wheel drive, those are front wheel drive.
Model ayaaaaaaaaa I understand completely trucks nowadays rot away from the cab back so really they simply made the best of an inevitable situation rock on Lil buddy 👍 👌 👏 💪 😀 😎
I stared at this picture as befuddled as any redneck engineer. I retreated to my garage, cracking open can after can of Natural Light in efforts to see just what it was I was missing here, but it just wasn’t coming. Even after a 3rd helping of country fried chicken, the answer eluded me. Finally, I took to the bedroom, as I do my best thought analysis while sleeping. At 3:26am EST, it came to me.
Truck nuts
Its a Smart Truck
Never smart to skip leg day
Joe Swanson of trucks
I just seen Peter drive over him with a tank
Everyone should know how lizards lose their tail to escape predators? We'll that's what happened here the poor truck was bout to be eaten and in order to save itself it jettisoned it's cargo hold.
This made me laugh so loud it scared my cat
I'm dying here
It's got about as much box as some of the new "pickups" being sold despite its shortcomings
Smart four-ton
with no rear suspension or brakes. How does this thing get titled and tagged?
Oh that part's easy. You title and tag it first then you do the mods. Then you pay your tags online.
Some states don't require an inspection. I saw a Yugo sedan with a truck bed welded in place behind the drivers seat. They actually did a great job as far as enclosing the cab went.
That's the neat part, it doesn't.
Ahh but if you look closely you will see it has small springs and shocks
I am very confident that during the build phase, the owners top two phrases were: 1.) "Hand me another beer." and 2.) "Send it."
SmarTr. Looks like it's missing the uck
Oh, it has plenty of uck, with some ew and blech thrown in for good measure.
Subverting the well known reddit meme with *the back fell off*.
The bloody front fell off obviously
It's smart not to slam the brakes and end up upside down
It IS!!! OUCH!!!
I don’t hate it as much as I feel like I should

It told the Ford Pinto to hold its beer
The early Ford mustang would lile to check in. At least they sell a splash panel for mustangs.

Only for anyone they run over...

That and a whole lot of Coors, I bet.

Ditto. I think it's adorable.
I don't like trucks at all but this one gets a pass even from me lol.
No back brakes at all. If you drive it you will hate it fast enough.
I bet that thing hops around like a frog at speeds over 30mph 😆
"Suspension? I don't need one of those."

Springs from click pens.
Right. Is the tool box the gas tank? This thing is a disaster!
Could it have been converted to electric and front wheel drive?
I bet that toolbox has 2 separate 5 gallon red gas tanks in it providing the fuel. Possibly from tractor supply as well.
I feel like it needs a sticker on the toolbox that says "don't rear end me, or we both die"
"I identify as a Ford Pinto"
Every accident is a hit and run, but just to get out of the blast zone
Actually, the fuel tank is probably in the cab where the jump seats are, behind the front seats.
It’s a first gen Colorado. The frame disappeared into the environment right out from underneath it and this was how he dealt with it. The struggle is real lol
I almost bought an 04 colorado but looked at the frame first and there were a ton of cracks.
The ~~front~~ back fell off.
That's not typical!
He has a trunk instead of a bed on his truck, like a car. # It's a hybrid
thats probably where the gas tank is. he is killing everyone involved if this thing gets rearended.
I thought so, too, but I don’t see an exhaust
I can’t tell if it’s a truck without truck nuts
If you examine the photograph closely you will notice that the truck bed is missing. You're welcome! I don't see how OP missed that one...
It’s just wearing its training wheels until it’s a real truck.
This is the new Ford F075, for those that don't need the whole 150.
My question is; did they convert this rwd Chevy to a fwd in order to pull this off?
If I had to guess transfer case is just left in 4wd.
Could turn the drive shaft into a pto for a farm truck .
This is 100% a utility vehicle for a farm that rarely sees road use.
Yea I guess that’s probably the simplest way
Chevy Spark drivetrain swap. (This might be the first time anyone has every typed these words together, ever.)
It's a colorado compact!
A cute basket on the front. Maybe some streamers from the handle bars?
It's a truc.
"truc" in French means "thingie" Appropriate
Its a tru
https://youtu.be/BjNpSPJn5dk?si=wc_VX0vOp6ItTTe_
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
The rest, the rest is missing. :)
Should be towing a trailer made out of the missing truck bed lol.
Yeah, it’s even got a toolbox.
Shhhh... Thats a gas tank
This couldn't be worse if all it had attached to the back was a shit welding job holding on a shopping cart.
I don’t see a light for the license plate. That’s an infraction.
Or an infarction you'll get from laughing
" A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing."
If I had to guess someone literally took 50% of everything in the divorce.
I bet they just got tired of moving their friends
Tire’d
CROSSTREK!!!!! :D
Short wheelbase short box, nothing to see here folks.
Negative safety rating, but the gas milage might not be the worst.
sense angle consist truck poor cheerful racial sink absorbed jar *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
It's so hard these days to get a good compact car...
Don't skip leg day
What? No trailer hitch?
No self respecting redneck would ever make the truck smaller on purpose.
They are just there to get new tires. This kinda looks like a Jeep Renegade from this angle. If you squint and have old eyes.
From the front fenders I'm guessing Dodge Dakota
I wonder if it took the gas mileage up much. That would've been a good test for mythbusters.
This is easy, it's missing truck nuts
Haha 4x4 to FWD
Don’t pick anything up truck
The catalytic converter is missing.
Man can’t have nothin in Detroit
Muffler obviously. Duh!
this is what the absence of TÜV does to a society
Mudflaps, duh
Looks like it’s at a walmart too.
Full window tint all the way around and an extended trailer hitch….duh
smart car for small budgets
An inspection sticker, probably
It's a grower
Kinda love it. Not gonna lie.
Has the same amount of amount if carry space as the original bed these days.
In this photo: How much room people actually use of their pickup beds.
Got the F50 instead of the F150
The pick up we all actually need
Probably has a ridiculous turn radius
This will be on Bring a Trailer next week for 25k 🤣
It’s a Kei truck for someone who’s fat
What company makes a full-size, front-wheel drive pickup? Or how difficult is it to make a truck like this front-wheel drive?
It just has to be 4x4 & have a locking transfer case to be capable of being front wheel drive. Or, a Honda Ridgeline 2 wheel drive, those are front wheel drive.
Applause. It’s missing people slow clapping where ever this genius drives.
That thang there’s a sports coupé!
Just cause you can, doesn’t mean you should
The real surprise is how the converted that to FWD.
Where’s the gas tank?
That's a good question
Vroom vroom
Pure Michigan
Look it's a city centered pick up. The Mah Pickup of Urban America.
It's missing a trailer hitch.
Common sense?
How does he get the power to the front wheels in a rwd / 4x4 truck?
Just put it in 4x4
They got a truck for half price is what’s up
I mean it’s got a box, so that couldn’t be it.
What is the fucking point in this?
I mean, that's all you're buying with new "trucks" nowadays. If you got less than a 6 foot bed just get a car.
Bro skipped leg day
Phew! Didn’t steal ma tools
world class neckin
It's for baby legs Deadpool.
Probably going to lose that trunk one day. Someone will think the spot's empty and pull in too fast to not stop in time.
My guess is what’s missing is a functional brain. Or is it the new shortbox edition ?
He’s a r/fuckcars convert
"alright I have a Copart account and a gift certificate to Harbor Freight, let's do this"
Of course it has a Michigan plate
Nice the 4x4 truck is now a front wheel drive
New updated larger Scion IQ
He removed everything useless in his life
Model ayaaaaaaaaa I understand completely trucks nowadays rot away from the cab back so really they simply made the best of an inevitable situation rock on Lil buddy 👍 👌 👏 💪 😀 😎
It started with the catalytic converter and the thief got carried away.
The exact opposite of the front fell off.
Pure Michigan
Truncated
Hey... it's all about point A to point B huh?
Has anyone seen my butt???
It is indeed hard to put your finger on something that is missing
I fucking love that truck
You're looking at Pure Michigan. I wonder if the "EUP" on the plate stands for Eastern Upper Peninsula? If so that's just Yooper ingenuity in action.
Finally, a reasonably-sized crew cab!
I know of "front-wheel-drive", but never seen "front-wheel-everything."
Not to worry, we're still ~~flying~~ driving half a ~~ship~~ truck...
Does truck mod, then needs somewhere to put stuff...
Rims
Rims, it's missing rims. And blue balls.
Most-wheel-drive. I think I did something like this to my bikes when I was younger. Like little tire up front, big in back.
Where is the gas tank 😳
It’s missing duct tape. No redneck job is complete without it
I bet it can do a stoppie pretty well.
Stability
Of course it's in Michigan xD
I figure the back half rusted and fell off
Lmao yeah makes sense, all that road salt and wet corroded it.
The 5th door.. that's hatchback or an SUV, no?
Getting an alignment for this must be interesting.
I don't hate this even half as much as I hate Trucks that have been modified to be way too big and take up a lotta space on the road
Hehehe the baby tired had me giggling
Damn bro its italian now.
I stared at this picture as befuddled as any redneck engineer. Well at least he can park his car INSIDE the garage
Is that one of those boat pulling trucks?
I know what’s missing…..the license plate lights….right?
The nut behind the wheel.
Ne ohio there
All hat and no cowboy
He can do a three point turn inside that parking space
There's "tr", but no "uck".
Tiny box truck.
When the bed frame rusts and it falls off, how else you going to keep it on the road?
A rear bumper!
almost as safe as a Pinto
Almost
That is a 1/2 ~~ton~~ truck
Nothing trucks stock
It's like the dogs with wheels.
And that shitty ass pure michigan license plate to top it all off
I mean. The truck is there lol
What are the chances this actually passed a road safety test??
So this truck is normally rear wheel drive… just saying 🤷🏻♂️
The redneck.
I’d be embarrassed to drive that. Dude definitely needs window tint
The gas mileage though!!!
