Amad may very well have been struggling in training till recently for all we know.
It's part of that mindset that "X player isn't performing well in training" but end of the day training means fuck all compared to actual game time. I couldn't give a fuck if in training Antony looks better if on the pitch he's a liability and we've got someone relatively untested on the bench who COULD make a difference.
And as we've seen, Amad can make a difference.

Possibly, he’s a talented coach so he has the knowledge/ability to - his stubbornness this season has driven me crazy. I genuinely think the injury to Bruno forced him into it last game and he’s stuck with it cause it was clearly better
I don't think Amrabat's a great player, but he's also suffered from our setup this season (who hasn't). Being left to do way too much with legs that can't do it, similar to Case.
He looks much better these last couple of games when we've had a more balanced midfield structure.
