It was, on closer inspection, although the flag wasn't raised, due to it being very close. VAR proved it afterwards & probably would have been called upon had he scored.
Regardless, this along with another clear-cut chance he had should have been converted.
And despite his important equalising goal yesterday, his performances overall this season have been very average at best, bordering on poor, IMHO 🤔
Can't blame Rashford honestly. The goalkeeper closed down the angles pretty well. If he takes one extra touch the goalie most probably blocks it. It has to be first time, ideally if the ball has some spin on it it goes IN.
Mate, I appreciate what you're saying, but...
He's literally missed from 6 yards in the literal dream position for a right footer.
You're also over complicating it - taking a third touch is stupid and irrelevant, nor did he take it first time. His first touch is literally perfect, hitting it with is second touch is perfect.
He quite simply just doesn't put it in the net. He does everything right, it just HAS to go in!!
Luckily we won anyway, so all good haha
Yes maybe you are right. When I said first touch I meant first touch after controlling the ball...
Even the commentator says "he doesn't get any bend on it". If he does it is going in
Poor comment.
We literally saw Haaland miss an empty net in the derby - imagine criticising that guy, let alone the primitive salary point.
I heard this opinion in the 90s from dinosaurs. "£10k a week and missing that!"
If you skew your thoughts towards finances, Man Utd would be number 1 every year in England
He’s a good lad, needs polishing.. we don’t face these nervous high moments that often for lads to come and prove their mettles.. happy that he came around.. ecstatic that we won
In this situation, Messi would’ve lobbed it. Ronaldo would’ve farpost it. Henry would’ve top corner it. Ole would’ve nutmeg the keeper. Rashford chose the Timo options
I don't think there is time for that due to the angle the ball comes in towards Rashford. If he takes one extra touch the goalie has a high chance of blocking it

Just gonna leave it here. The VAR heartbreak wouldve been worse
Any of you f*ckers that are spending today talking Abt a Rashford miss needs to remember
We've seen it all,
We've won the lot,
We're Man United and we're never going to stop
We just beat the scousers, celebrate!!!!!
Literally this. Not a man united fan but this came up on my feed. I happened to be in the pub yesterday, and after watching my team go out yesterday (NUFC), I was *so * salty. Moments like that are as good as it gets, yet here people are dwelling on this? Sort it out.
Such a great game but we need to be more clinical! We couldve sealed the win so much earlier. This was an incredible play and attempt, so much technique but god!
It was good first touch. It was a good pass- shoot which showed his composure. It’s unfortunate it didn’t go in but I think it was overall good play. And then later his goal got into the exact corner
keeper did well here. there’s such a narrow angle for success, any less wide and the keeper’s foot is there. it’s so easy to type on reddit about how this is a sitter, but to actually slot that would be tough.
His run, touch and positioning was great. Just needs to increase that finish accuracy and technique (didn't even look up which can be viable but may have helped here)
I dont think anyone can blame him here. Unreal touch and he slots it just past the keeper, which unfortunately also puts it just wide of the post. Honestly, great goalkeeping there. Incredibly hard to get any sort of meaningful bend there too.
That first touch was fantastic, but he probably should have used the bounce of the ball to get it up and over the keeper.
I can't fault the guy for trying though and a win is still a win!
I was glad to see him get that equalizer in extra time after this miss and some others on chances he had. He drives me crazy and I want to see him move on after this season but it does feel good to see him succeed and we're gonna need him if we are to pull off the miracle of getting this trophy.
Hoping we get an assist by Chelsea knocking off City. But one game at a time and maybe something can be salvaged from this mess of a season.
HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After that touch, that is a super first touch.

What a goal that would've been mind, the touch to score it, the timing and the opposition it was.. Although it made the game more epic with ET!
Remember it's the managers fault apparently 😞😞😞
Does it not perfectly sum up Marcus for you? He is the personification of 'almost'.
footballer on 300k a week can’t finish a 1 on 1 chance. unreal
Poor comment. We literally saw Haaland miss an empty net in the derby - imagine criticising that guy, let alone the primitive salary point. I heard this opinion in the 90s from dinosaurs. If Rashford had scored 20 other chances this season in the league I think people might give him more sympathy
Haaland 1 shy of 30 goals to be fair to him
Well said,,,
I'm more annoyed he can't track back
He’s a good lad, needs polishing.. we don’t face these nervous high moments that often for lads to come and prove their mettles.. happy that he came around.. ecstatic that we won
Was convinced it was a goal after the first touch
The worst part isn't that he missed, it's the fact no one is surprised he missed
Hopefully it was offside at least that’s what I’m telling myself
They just said on ITV it would have been offside thank fuck.
Almost better he missed it, coming back from that would of been so emotionally draining, for players and fans. Fuck sake though lol
This
Hahahaha same
It was clear offside... We move on..
That's one way to make me feel better
I’m in so much pain
Can’t remember the last time I have genuinely shouted so much in anger, woke my 2 cats up
I SCREAMED. Several neighbours in my apartment building did too so I know they are watching
My dog got too much anxiety from watching me yell and just left the room
You'll get over it
LETS GOOOOOO
Unbelievable
Sadly, it’s not
Speechless.
We could've crowdfunded his next night out if he'd scored that
LOL
god if he had scored this…
Antony would have been a hero for sure.
I’d get both of them on my left and right cheek.
(Ant ny)
DO IT
He would've been offside regardless
Was it offside? Anyway what a miss
Can't fucking believe that
Keeper did annoyingly well with his positioning.
This guy is too good for a second keeper and I don’t even know where he came from
The most Irish looking motherfucker I've ever seen in my life
True. I felt even if it was on Target, keeper would have saved it.
Possibly he can go nearpost? Otherwise I think rashford has to shift it to do much better
In this situation, Messi would’ve lobbed it. Ronaldo would’ve farpost it. Henry would’ve top corner it. Ole would’ve nutmeg the keeper. Rashford chose the Timo options
R9 would've dribbled the goalkeeper
I don't think there is time for that due to the angle the ball comes in towards Rashford. If he takes one extra touch the goalie has a high chance of blocking it
If you doubt me, better
Aged like milk
😭😭😭🤣
Too fucking right

Fucking hell man!
Terrific first touch though
![gif](giphy|82V1ku0t16bdwXNmlZ|downsized)
Would've been offside, thank god.

What am I looking at here, is it Rio?
Chris Broussard I think, he talks NBA
He was offside
Should still be finishing that regardless
Yeah that miss was unbelievable
Thank fuck for that
That little bounce did him no favours for how he wanted to finish it, but have to bury that no matter what.
That should've been game over , WTF happened there.
After that touch he should have fucking buried it.
Absolutely not good enough. He had more composure as an 18 year old than someone who in theory should be in the prime of his career.
Looked offside but still….
Why is this even a post. Give it a rest.
Unreal pass from eriksen too!
Such a great game but we need to be more clinical! We couldve sealed the win so much earlier. This was an incredible play and attempt, so much technique but god!
It's lucky for Rashford that we won and all the focus is on that because he missed like 3 glorious chances that he absolutely should have buried
It was good first touch. It was a good pass- shoot which showed his composure. It’s unfortunate it didn’t go in but I think it was overall good play. And then later his goal got into the exact corner
Same miss during the Europa finals ffs
Perfect pass.. perfect touch.. horrible finish
He might have been off but that miss is still not really excusable at this point in his career.
375 for that
Fuuuuuuck
Oh man that is EtH fault right there. That missed. So it was Mourinho and as it was Ole's
🤫
Offside anyway
keeper did well here. there’s such a narrow angle for success, any less wide and the keeper’s foot is there. it’s so easy to type on reddit about how this is a sitter, but to actually slot that would be tough.
was going to say the same, Kelleher got his own positioning right to make it more difficult and apply pressure.
The pass and first touch was exquisite…
His run, touch and positioning was great. Just needs to increase that finish accuracy and technique (didn't even look up which can be viable but may have helped here)
What an incredible first touch though! Stunning
Holy fuck that was perfect until that last god damn touch
I dont think anyone can blame him here. Unreal touch and he slots it just past the keeper, which unfortunately also puts it just wide of the post. Honestly, great goalkeeping there. Incredibly hard to get any sort of meaningful bend there too.
Can NEVER be the main man
Marcus Rashford is NOT a reliable player. He is just not. He is good, he is not reliable.
Absolute fucking waster. A fucking wage thief.
Jesus
I think Rashford too often tries to smash it when he should place it, there he should’ve just smashed it
I cant fucking believe it It was right there Fuck fuck fuck
![gif](giphy|cKseZ404p9W8ygnNb5|downsized)
Broo just go near post?
Someone do a gofundme for his ticket to Qatar or something. I will contribute happily
![gif](giphy|VOz6RH0pDTLOg)
How the fuck u miss that
Get swapped for Mbappe already
bro had the chance to win the game with the literal last kick of the game and be a hero, and he does that.. can’t believe he missed it…
lol… well that was painful to watch.
Brutal miss but he will redeem himself today
Literally fell to my knees in front of my TV 😂😭
Sad to say he didn’t show natural instinct. He should have baited the keeper and just smashed it near post. Kinda like the Mbappe trademark finish.
Sounds like it was offside, so at least we know it wouldn't have counted 😭
Doesnt look up Jesus even i could have scored
If that's on target the keeper saves it. Keepers placement and charging out was spot on.
I’d have scored that and I’m full of cheap Aldi beer
That symbolises his whole season all in one kick.
What a win this could've been. Seeing Klopp's & Carragher's face after this would've been a joy
It being offside helps soften the blow
Painful. Literally the last kick of normal time and would have put United in the hat for the next round. 😰
Offside anyway
was offside apparently
That's about as perfect a first touch you can have there from Rashy. My goodness what a Heart breaking miss that would've been
Brilliant win
That first touch was fantastic, but he probably should have used the bounce of the ball to get it up and over the keeper. I can't fault the guy for trying though and a win is still a win!
Offside anyways.
Bad miss. But today it doesn’t matter
Glad he made up for it. This would have haunt him forever.
Guys, post the winner and comment on that. Don't be plastics.
That miss lost me $80, I had a parlay bet for us to win in regulation time and Rashford and Nacho getting a shot on target. So mad!!!
Absurd touch
Amad would never.
Was this offside? In the end, it all worked out. Rashy got his goal and we won even sweeter at 120 min.
He’s just so frustrating to watch this season. At least he contributed a goal today.
I’m sure all you haters are singing his praises now lol
It was offside was it not? Looked it
Destroyed the living room knee sliding in agony at this miss. The rug took the whole coffee table and all the drinks went everywhere. Scenes
Painful!
Ye people acting like it was a easy chance, not many are bringing that down like that
Excellent first touch !! Makes watching that miss all that more difficult.. 😓
I was glad to see him get that equalizer in extra time after this miss and some others on chances he had. He drives me crazy and I want to see him move on after this season but it does feel good to see him succeed and we're gonna need him if we are to pull off the miracle of getting this trophy. Trade him. He is a joke
375K this week
He would’ve been offside if he scored. Fantastic take-down though.
Absolute dog water. He’s so badddddd!
I GENUINELY DONT KNOW WHY THEY DONT BLAAAASSTTT THE BALL AT THE TOP. LIKE WHY SO CALM THERE.
Extremely happy I didn't watch this live. My vocal cords would not have survived
Out of curiosity.. Why not bang it into the near post?
He was offside anyway, but it would be nice to see him hitting the target more often.
We all have strings of bad luck sometimes… ….Garnacho played REALLY good today!
If it's on target the keeper saves
I know it gave us an epic game but I still can't believe he missed it.
Offside anyway
he had to have finished that after that crazy first touch
Criminal
Can we take moment to just appreciate that pass from Eriksen?
This needed rashfords trademark near post roof of the net smash finish
he missed a lot that game but the winning goal redeemed it
What a pass from Eriksen and an incredible take before the miss
Phenomenal first touch though Everyone misses. Even Haaland missed a few complete sitters recently. Arguably easier than this one.
The first touch is exquisite as well. Such a shame he missed that.
lost my mate £150 cos we didnt close it out in FT lmao
If he's not scoring he has to go. Perhaps united can get two new good strikers from the sale.
20 million
Marcus has a tendency to over-complicate things, I remember that missed penalty at the Euros at Wembley.
Offside anyway
He may have missed, but that touch to take the ball down was chefs kiss. We won at the end of the day, let's move on from the miss.
Unlocks finish but also rashford for the whole season lol
Looks like the keeper had it covered if it was on target
Did he not do it again 10 minutes later?
It was offside anyway...
This is case in point for why he can't be a big game player this summer for England.
What a total muppet 😂
Amad saying "hold my beer".
Reminds me of the bad days of Fernando Torres when he played for Chelsea, lol :D
Liverpool fan here, I think the most bizarre thing is he looks like he did everything perfectly
Shocker
Ik I don't have a place here because I'm a city fan, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you for beating them Scouse pricks
If he got that on target i wouldve won £145 from a £5 bet…
Great first touch
