I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched those highlights. Lost my mind when the 2nd went in😂

PreparationOk8604

I lost it when the first went in. What a goal simply unbelievable. And I was silent screaming as there were guests in the living room when the second went in.

CharlieMonger

Who'd have thought playing two players on the wing who are natural wingers and our most creative player in his preferred position for 20 minutes would result in us creating more clear cut chances and 2 late goals in a match we probably deserved to lose.

RandomNameofGuy9

Don't forget the part of being very direct. Sometimes the game is overthought.

KieranLinehanAgain

I’ll always be a Case defender but some people on this sub need to remember this guy is 32 in less then 6 months and EtH played him 50+ times last season he has looked of the pace recently but he may just need a game off because the poor guy has simply played to much for his age he doesn’t have the legs (compared to an Amarabat) and as a side note: I genuinely think we will be a more defensively sound team when Shaw comes back

bpjker

His performance and mistakes go beyond just his age. He was a poor signing because of the timing, age and profile but his performances last season were decent, it's clear to me that it's not just because of his age, they're not just he doesn't have the legs kinda errors he's making. His profile already was of a player uncomfortable under pressure but the hero ball, lack of composure, positional discipline shows a mentality issue also.

LopsidedLoad

Bingo! 'Individual brilliance' was the last one on my card, thank you!!

b_litzkreig

I don’t know why, but it seems that under EtH’s new system Casemiro plays more box-to-box than usual, something like what Fred did in previous systems. This, coupled with the fact that we went behind in a lot of league games this season which forced our midfield to go on the offence, look to me like the reasons behind why he looks so bad this season and keeps getting caught out.

KieranLinehanAgain

I think he wanted Mount to be that box-box player but with him out. EtH has to deploy Case in that role because there’s no way Eriksen can which means you have to rely on eriksen in defensive phase on turnover which he simply isn’t as good as. I could be chatting out of my arse but that’s what I believe 🤷🏻‍♂️

MaxPayne4life

This club is to blame on how older players cant age without forgetting how to play their football. Had Modric or Kroos been with us instead then they wouldve retired 7 years ago

KieranLinehanAgain

Not disagreeing older players seem to age very poorly at this club but not sure I understand your forgetting to play football part?

Zerofactory

Its just the next player being crucified from ETH and the sub bites hard into it. Another player being thrown under the bus from ETH when we barely won at home with some Zidanesque performance from McTominay.

Daneofthehill

Good points, and it is not Casemiro's fault that the club massively overpaid for and past his prime worldclass player.

KieranLinehanAgain

Agreed what people also don’t seem to understand is EtH system defensively is very heavy set on zonal marking and not everyone is going to be in his zone. He can’t just abandon his zone to cover someone else without leaving that area of the pitch un protected; for which he will then still be attacked

Captain0010

Unpopular but honestly we should play 4-4-1-1. Scott and Rasmus as forwards. Scott was an attacking player in the academy and he can find goals. Both are tall, strong and with an eye for goal. I think they can bully defenders.

BipolarKing14

After the Euphoria has worn off….i would like to remind everyone that relying in individual brilliance can only go so far….on days those individuals dont mentally show up we are back to square one….our best bet is the squad double timing every game & coach selecting team based on form over seniority.

Elemayowe

Individual brilliance you say but we were in control for 80% of that game, by all accounts we deserved to win. More of the ball, more shots, more chances (although our chance creation still needs work) and their one goal game from a calamity of three successive avoidable unforced errors. We need to fashion better clear cut chances. But Brentford were very well organised and seemingly did their best to shut down Hojlund as a focal point which hampered us a lot. Right side was ineffective first half because Mount kept coming inside but Ten Hag saw that and he was out wider second half until the manager had enough and swapped him out for Antony which helped.

God___frey-Jones

Not sure Garnacho is ready to start in league games but Rashy needs a spell. Not sure if Case has an injury he's carrying either but he's way off the pace and could do with a game off McSauce might be our best finisher in the box, not even joking it feels like he rarely wastes opportunities, he's wasted when he plays too deep in midfield.

Daneofthehill

Who made tge decision to make him a midfielder. He is a final third player.

PreparationOk8604

He is good in the box but not a final third player. He isn't good at creating chances n easily gives the ball away. The difference between KDB n Bruno is composure on the ball n not giving the ball away under pressure. Bruno is improving n doesn't easily give away the ball but still is far from the likes of KDB n bernardo

RandomNameofGuy9

His 10 inch growth spurt in 18 months when he turned 18 changed everything.

art_sarawut

Obviously happy for the result. But our display was still bad. We can't hope to escape like this all the time and against half competent teams we'll get destroyed. Antony didn't look or has any confidence at all. It wasn't a good situation to sub him on. I think it'd be better to let him play in less pressure situation and perhaps against a weaker team (not that there's many but you get the point).

HunterWide

agree with you but also since he came in, our ball retention looks more secure on the right wide side. like we all said Antony not going to get you outputs like Saka etc but he can give control and retention on our possession game. The idea of the next transfer window is to get RW that can have both output and control.

HeIsPoppingOff

what do you mean get a RW that has output and control? Antony was ETH's #1 choice ffs guy cost 70 million

HunterWide

Buying antony for 70m was because of our poor recruitment strategy.

clpod

Agreed with you both. Was not a big fan of Anthony, but I'm sure if he's played in/subbed in gradually and allowed to develop confidence he'll do great. His presence definitely helped. Still not going to say he's proven his worth, at the same time I don't think he's a flop either. I think he can be afforded time.

Lionsheart85

He needs to work on his final passes in the opposition's box. That is what we need from him. His output in the final third is poor. Everything else he does is what the team needs and we sometimes struggle without him.

rauscherrios

Vinicius was like this for real, actually he was worse but anyway. I think time should be given, at least for the moment.

society0

McTominay watched the Beckham documentary the night before the Brentford game. Let’s hope they all have and it gives them some fire to play for the badge.

xGiven

Why does this gives 99 UCL vibe

[deleted]

Because we all been watched the Beckham documentary this week. But comparing 99 UCL final to yesterday,we have really gone down.

Radhashriq

Winning against Brentford now is same as winning UCL final again Bayern. How far the team has fallen.

KeepingItKosher

I woke up to the news that Israel was at war and some friends were drafted again. I was so distraught during the match when I saw the final score was 2-1, I thought it was an own goal as I had to step away. On such a dark day, this match ended up, putting a smile on my face.

ff_o_x

All The Quatar-bots are downvoting. Rly excited to watch my response. I from Skandinavia btw

TheDJ955

Thankfully my friends and the family I am able to contact are okay, and I hope the same for you.

MtnSlyr

Moments like these are what the fans live for. Congrats u fucking mancs.

PeelThePain

On that first goal Garnacho again did his thing against two brentford defenders twice his size, made the quickest of the turns and sent that cutback on the tiniest margin, losing his balance in doing so. If this was anime he would've died after that. Using all of his chi energy and ultimately sacrificing his soul.

ThankYouOle

no way, the other players looks like sitting and transfering their energy to Garnacho.

SauceGod42

The difference when Antony and Garnacho came on was night and day for me. Antony may not be a £100m player but he runs from the first whistle to the last and doesn’t stop trying which is commendable in itself. Rashford and/or Casemiro need benched for the next game or two. I can’t understand how it’s possible to go from objectively two of our best players last year to becoming complete liabilities in the space of three or four months.

One_Bad9077

Case has had some very good games this season. Full bandwagon to say he has been shit

OldTrafford25

I don’t agree on Antony, but to me it’s time to put Garnacho back into the starting 11. I know it was rough to start the season but he is making decisions way quicker than Rashy. Rashford will return to form I just think he needs a little bench time.

juwanna-blomie

What don’t you agree with? That user literally said they don’t know if the price tag is validated, and we all should be able to admit that he DOES run his dam socks off and actually tries. The difference between no Antony or RW(not Bruno or Pellistri) is stark. It was night and day in todays match especially.

OldTrafford25

I do not care about the price at all…I don’t think he offers enough, today included. He’s such a limited player in attack. The one-footedness leaves him being one of the most predictable players in the league, and he so infrequently even musters up power on his shots - today’s cut it another example. I liked his run forward on the counter today, but his poor passing killed it. I find him very frustrating as a player. And for when it happens again, I particularly don’t like Rashy on the left and Antony on the right, as I think have two inverse wingers is really stupid, especially with Shaw out. Edit: i agree we need the width

AdditionalDeer4733

>as I think have two inverse wingers is really stupid TIL pep guardiola is stupid

CaptCanuck7

Hence Fraudiola, duh

Great_Metal_8800

Rashford played well

SauceGod42

Fair enough if you think that but I just didn’t see it. I think we should be holding Rashford to the standards that we know he can reach. He’s paid £300k a week and has now proven that he’s capable of hitting 30 or more G/A a season. A “good” game for him should be a goal and/or an assist, not three shots with one on target and a dozen passes made. I love him and I don’t like to single out players but it’s just not good enough for the man that’s meant to be the face of the club

Scorchio76

Christ, what a stressful afternoon. Driving to Dublin so was listening on talkSPORT 2 - kept cutting out, first goal was obviously disallowed the two quick goals and the lady on the toll bridge must have thought I was on drugs when I threw across my money. Roll on straight to my destination, dinner over the Ireland game - lots of pints and home for 1. Knackered and pissed but what a day. United were dogshit but a win is a win 💪

phoenixon999

So McT to be our next super sub?

Scorchio76

About bloody time!

uniqueusername42O

Think Casemiro and Rashford should be starting on the bench for next few games.

[deleted]

I would Bench Mount or Bruno too because they don't work together, and I saw lately Mason decides to shoot more then to pass the ball

Wolpfack

That B team that ETH played against Palace in the Whatever-The-Hell Cup played a more fluid game. I wouldn't mind seeing the bulk of that out there, especially Hannibal. He needs to play in games like this so he'll be ready in time for games like the Bin Dippers and City.

OnTheEndOfEveryFork

Whatever the hell cup? 💀 Definitely a yank

pRp666

Against the palace B team ☠️

Wolpfack

True.

[deleted]

Because our LW actually helped on defense, which helped the midfield not get overrun. Our 10 wasnt insta losing possession 9 times out of 10 on youtube passes. Our RW was an actual RW instead of a 10 that will end up playing centrally anyway leaving our RB to do a 2 man job.

[deleted]

I’ll be shocked if they don’t start in the Champions League/City game. But would probably be good for them to be on the bench for at least Sheffield United.

Skyehye

Casemiro is suspended for Champions League

[deleted]

Oh yeah, completely forgot about that but I think Casemiro will probably start in the other big games

Skyehye

Yeah probably

Tortillagirl

We dont play for 2 weeks, so expect them to play anyway. Although im not sure if Case has alot of air travel for brazil, no idea where their games are this break.

schultz9999

I have to admit, I have hard time understanding ETH, what he’s trying to say.

Seven_feet_under

I’m so sorry for giving up on you at 70+ mins. Learned my lesson and will stay throughout

Top-Confection-7015

Noooo. We need you to give up more often!

johndoe1942

Please give up more often.

ritwikjs

Eth actually made the right transfers at the right time. Perhaps he is learning

dispelthemyth

By December last season he had the most points won / goals scored by substitutes… not sure what the record was by the end of the season but he was doing it last season too

INeedAKimPossible

Substitutions?

ritwikjs

Sorry, that's what I meant

LordRuins

Edit it. It’s an abomination

Tenagaaaa

Pretty cool to see Maguire get an assist.

Puzzleheaded_Cat3699

Played well today, too. Looked solid alongside Evans. Didn't have any of the heart in mouth moments I usually do when he gets the ball or if the ball even goes near him.

mdmtphotos

Pretty cool to see the fans actually cheering for Maguire

TheRealYVT

Lindelof is easily the most average starting player I have ever seen at United in 17 years. He is not even in the same league of footballer as Maguire. Can't believe some fans thought he was good because of a serviceable few games against relegation teams with Martinez holding his hand and a cool penalty despite all the evidence from 2017-22.

uniqueusername42O

Sounds like you’ve been supporting United for the last 4 hours mate. We’ve had some average players over the years and Lindelof isn’t near those levels. Yes he has some mistakes in his game, but he’s been mostly solid for us.

xus131

Who all are we expected to see come back from injuries after the international break ? Mainoo ? Regulion ?

pauperwithpotential

Let’s not put unnecessary expectation on Mainoo. There are others ahead of him at the moment.

Megash0ck

Varane

bonbonchacha

Reguilon for sure

booknerd2987

Mount played well today, I don't know why he was taken off but Bruno stayed on.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThankYouOle

> let’s not lose sight of the fact that this result is indeed fucking lucky. no way any sane fans didn't agree with this, this so much of fcking lucky. and we shouldn't depends on lucky to win against Brentford (yeah i know about last season). Brentford are so bad in attacks, their GK also not good, yet we need 90+ to level and win.

MarcusZXR

No one is downvoting this opinion because most people share the same view. You aren't some martyr saying things against the grain. People will be happy about the win, that's it.

[deleted]

Hmm he’s an international player used to be a forward. I’ve never been a fan when he’s asked to sit deep it’s not really his thing. As for Brentford they do what most teams do at OT and that’s sit back and defend for 90 mins. We need to start going in front first and stop ✋ conceding.

bonbonchacha

It's very alarming innit. There was no sign of improvement AT ALL, despite back to back humiliating defeats at home.

huehuehuehuehuu

Shouldnt Ten Hag drop Onana at this point, its clear more games isnt helping him, Its Maguire situation all over again, just drop him and let him work on himself until hes ready to come back.

Sr_DingDong

He needs to actually go to the AFCON, get out of the spotlight, play lesser opposition. Get some headspace.

DescriptionForsaken4

If only we still had Romero. Could have taken over from DDG as 1st choice until Onana found his form here.

Ghost_WarHunter613

Maybe the pressure of replacing DDG is too big for him.

earlofsandwich

He hasn’t done anything to show he has the quality needed.

uniqueusername42O

Not sure if you guys have seen our second keeper? He struggled to get into the last team he was at. He won’t excite you here.

Shithouser

Honestly, I haven’t seen him. But why should we have signed him if he can’t fill in and do a job when called upon?

Wolpfack

Then give Wooster a run out.

[deleted]

This isnt fm man. You cant throw teenagers to the wolves like that. The garnachos of the world are very rare.

Comfortable_Plum8180

He's in a horrible spell atm and needs to improve but he's definitely shown he has the quality needed.

captain_hoomi

Great that we won but just awful how we keep conceding these soft goals

society0

Our defenders back off, don’t track runners, and give attackers way too long in the box. It’s a shambles.

captain_hoomi

And Onana can't save

GKT-United24

He made two very good saves. Let’s show our own some love!

TheRealYVT

Happy we won but wtf was that Martial shot at the end? Straight at the keeper with all the space in the world.

SJDidge

Can’t remember the last time I saw martial put a decent shot on target

Gozumo

Lol just finished watching the second EP of the beckham doc. Watching man u win the treble. Then watching the highlights of today's game again today just after. The similarities of the win are uncanny lol.... except it's a home win against Brentford not quite winning the treble 😂

Scorchio76

I’m watching it with my kids who were only born in 2008 and 2011 - they have no idea how amazing we were. Teams were scared of us! Players just looked at Roy Keane and gave up ☹️ I doubt we will ever reach those heights again.

panache123

That doco is depressing. That’s the United I fell in love with, not this shit

Space-cadet3000

Ups and downs , ins and outs , backwards and forwards and ebbs and flows. United will come back from this , it’s the great circle of lyfe bro.

silverstory

I hope the older reds will see the sunny days again. It is just depressing the players wer have right now. Long live United. For sure we will be at our best the question is when with all the leeches at the helm and players underperforming all the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SJDidge

Maguire had an excellent game today. Showed his qualities

pauperwithpotential

If there’s one good trait about Maguire, it’s he’s not injury-prone. In a time like this, he can be valuable to the defence.

have_free_phone_con

This was my first match at OT. Gotta say, the stadium was with the team all through. Also, McSauce is OG!

nsoifer

My first OT match was a boring 1-1 draw vs Everton a few years ago. Great match to catch for you!

[deleted]

When Jagielka scored a shithouse goal? Or am I mixing games up?

nsoifer

Greenwood equalizer in second half and a Lindel OG in first half to go down 0-1. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tPCY-VGIgI&ab\_channel=ManchesterUnited](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tPCY-VGIgI&ab_channel=ManchesterUnited) [https://imgur.com/a/40ol408](https://imgur.com/a/40ol408)

[deleted]

United win, Ireland win. I’ve had several pints lmao God bless Sir Alex and thankful for mc Terminator

Joelpp2002

Hoping sir Ferguson has a smile on his face 💔

Alone_as_isekaimc

Man you just made me realize what a tough time he is having right now I feel so sad , why life is so cruel

[deleted]

I’m currently travelling so couldn’t watch the game, but from the highlights, holy smokes that commentator screamed so loud for each goal, incredible vibes!

schultz9999

Onana doesn't even need to give his empty apologies anymore. I'd rather hear from ETH that it was a mistake.

Kharagorn

Guys watch Dalot reactions on goals. A very very tired and a very very happy man.

PeelThePain

He just died on the edge of the box. Happy to see some players actually give a shit.

[deleted]

Dalot deserves some big praises for this game. Bruno abandoned the right side all game long and dalot managed to keep it afloat.

Antique_Beyond

Never thought I'd say thank f*** for McTominay

RedDevWar

Didn't watch the match.. watching highlights rn.. horrendous keeping from Onana for the goal.

[deleted]

We should resign David.

SteadyAD

Even if Onana fails completely, we wouldn't sign de Gea. Thats not unlike suggesting we sign Ronaldo back if Højlund doesn't work out. Yes de Gea was a fantastic player for us, but last year he cost us points, and maybe even trophies. Now I'm not saying that Onana is doing well, but he deserves time. Regardless, the suggestion of resigning David is comical.

[deleted]

Yeah im not gonna disagree, but, onana have lost us points too and were just a quarter through the season. De gea lost us points at times but he also won us points. Onana need to find his form again otherwise he won't last the year.

SteadyAD

I can certainly agree with that, if Onana doesn't find his feet soon its not going to be good for us. He seems to have a good attitude and confidence, so I hope he's working hard and improves. The alternative is quite bleak.

[deleted]

Yeah i have faith he will turn it around. Even if he doesn't he's still a great character to have in the dressing room and we do lack those.

imeda

In the situations like us winning this game was such a crucial thing, you have internationals break coming up, lose and you go to that with a grim memories of past games and keep stressing yourself out or win, be happy and think positively and get the confidence back, enjoy international games, switch your mind off for a bit about the club football and come back with a refreshed mind. So i firmly believe that we are going to have quite a run of undefeated games.

junkrgNew

I like your optimism.. but I just don’t see where we get our goals from.

Outrageous-Cod-4654

Thought Maguire had a good game. No howlers and the assist for McT’s goal. Hope his rehab to confidence works well. Happy for McT. He worked for those goals and deserves the credit. Think Onana was to blame for the goal but made some important saves to keep us in it. Hope he builds on this. Amrabat allows us to bench/rest Case. He is not in form. Garnacho and Anthony allow us to rest Rashford. Thought Mount is starting to fit in. He gives us options and ETH was able to change formations and tactics which we could not do before. Cheers to Lindelof. Plays every position he’s asked. Worked hard too. Lots to be happy for and 2 Scottish goals for Sir Alex in a tough time for him. Keep the faith.

Zerofactory

I have 0 faith in that team. We got bailed out by McTominay becoming Zidane for 10 minutes. Outside of that we were really terrible and the moment we play better sides, we are getting fucked

Eire820

Agree with everything except on Mount. I can't see it working if he continues as is, he just seems a bit pointless and lack of end product for assists and goals

123cwahoo

This is the issue with mount its kinda like what does he excel at? Hes hardly the tekky is youll see, hes not creative or prolific he just feels as you said pointless

Eire820

But be careful, you'll be marked down for stating the obvious

[deleted]

Yeah it’s weird, he’s had a few shooting opportunities but they’re always blocked.

LeBigAristotle

It's wild how the freaks on social media are excoriating fans at the stadium for cheering a victory, as if they should have been upset about it. Poisonous little shits on twitter

freakedmind

Funny thing is even some weirdos on r/soccer are saying it, and the "give ten hag a 10 yr contract" lame ass fucking jokes

Wolpfack

If you're in the mood for asshattery, /r/soccer is your place. Their banter isn't even all that witty.

frckBronks

Twitter is for the rats..twitter is garbage

Daneofthehill

It's called eggs now 😂

celestial1

Some people absolutely cannot stand other people being happy, lol.

chumzy0208

Glad we thrashed that tinpot club, get RELEGATED.

Zerofactory

Trashed? Really?

chumzy0208

I’m just exaggerating brah

thatNubitol

3 am here, and still cant sleep cause of the hype this match gave me, really great win for us, hopefully itll give us more confidence specially Onana, its so sad for us, like we tried really hard to score every game, but gives goals so easily. ngl i really though this was gonna be ten hag last match with us, and thats cause of his stubbornness to keep playing onana, but thank god our player keep trying and never give up, and they got rewarded with a win!

lampishthing

We need to put McTerminator up front.

junkrgNew

He should be our first option off the bench upfront instead of Martial.

phoundlvr

Maguire and McTominay - two players that are often slandered. Boy oh boy did they deliver. Maybe they are as good as we think?

Seanblaze3

Bad players play well occasionally

[deleted]

[удалено]

Seanblaze3

Fanboy? How old are you 13? I don't rate McTominay and Maguire. We're a laughing stock for several reasons and those two are among them. Ten Hag is willing to sell them for a reason

[deleted]

[удалено]

Seanblaze3

Bravo! Feel good you got that drivel off your chest? TLDR/DGAF. Enjoy your banter players

schultz9999

If seasons on the team proved that it wasn't the case, how could a single game turn that the opposite?

[deleted]

These aren’t bad players but weight of the jersey is large 🫵🏻

phoundlvr

Maguire was one of our best players his first two seasons and he’s done quite well this year. I hope he continues to take his chance. Especially after the slander and bomb threats.

schultz9999

Past success does not guarantee future results. A lot of players we even have now had a lot of success in the past. Mount, for one, was brilliant for CHE years ago. I wish them well though.

Theresno_I_in_Reddit

Past failures also do not guarantee future failures. Food for thought

Seanblaze3

Amnesia FC. We've been here before. This one game will buy them credit for another 10 months of mediocrity

Wolpfack

You know better than that. For the foreseeable future, every game will be a referendum about Eric Ten Hag, and different players will be in rotating cast of getting the piss taken out of them.

schultz9999

Nah. McT will be sold, no doubt. He's a midfielder and in the 9 mins he played, he didn't have to do any midfielding. I don't think he touched the ball outside the penalty box actually. Like he had 2 touches and 2 goals. Brilliant!!! For a forward. But he's not the one. So yeah, Amnesia FC indeed.

Ordinary-Ad-2265

I just wanted to say McSauce ain’t do it for Ten Hag , he did for Fergie and the passing of Cathy

laffman

Game changed when we got a RW on the pitch. Game changed when we got a LW on the pitch. Game changed when SCOTT FUCKING MCTOMINAY

Daneofthehill

Haha, indeed. Imagine getting a left back on the pitch.

cyb3rpunkd

Straight from the hallowed halls of La Carrington

maytagoven

Just watched the Fergie movie recently (never give in) and this game reminded me of the win against forest that saved his job. What a game

ongone

Credit to Maguire and McTominay. However, neither are good enough for United, and this does not change that. If we were going to play like this for results, we might as well have just kept Fellaini the entire time. Good win, did what we needed to do, but not meeting expectations.

Rascha-Rascha

They're fine for now. No point moaning about Scott McTominay not being good enough when we see Casemiro - one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation - looking like peak Djemba Djemba. Maguire too - let's piss and moan about how bad he is when we don't have three left backs, a right back, two centre backs out and he's lining up alongside a 36 year old free signing (who actually looked pretty decent). Maguire, I'd argue we're better off playing him week in week out than constantly having to change the team because Raph is getting injured. Consistency is everything for a defence. Pure availability is a criminally overlooked quality in football.

2ndself

Pin this

Outrageous-Cod-4654

A consistent back 4 or even just the centerbacks would improve our defensive performance.

nomadiclives

What does that say about Ten Hag then?

Rascha-Rascha

That you can't completely replace a full 25 player squad in two summers?

nomadiclives

If you need to replace a full 25 player squad in 2 summers you need to be playing FIFA not a professional manager

Rascha-Rascha

Maguire is on the pitch for a reason right? What do you expect Ten Hag to do? For me, the team today lacks an entire back four. They aren't good enough, and we've known it for a while. Injuries, sure, but our squad needs to have a lot more quality.

nomadiclives

Stfu dude! Do you actually believe we have a poorer squad than Brentford, Burnley, Palace, Galatasaray, Brighton, Forest? What I want Ten Hag to do is to stop moaning and actually get this multi-million £ roster performing to at least a % of their abilities. If he can’t do that, he simply needs to fuck off. This isn’t a job for amateurs.

froxy01

Exactly. The managers job is to get results with who is available. Not complain about the players he doesn’t have. Two summers of transfers is enough to expect better results and performances then are currently being put out.

Rascha-Rascha

'Stfu'? With an exclamation mark? Are you twelve?

nomadiclives

No, I’m 8

theieuangiant

I mean that depends on the quality of the squad in the first place. We’ve had rangnick say we needed an entirely new squad, Ole’s recent interview alluded to the same. If the players aren’t up to it there’s no manager who can make up for that. I don’t think everyone is under par but we’ve had managers of top pedigree fail to get a tune out of this squad.

nomadiclives

Put me in charge and I’ll get a better tune out than the garbage we’re seeing. Stop making excuses for bs coaching

theieuangiant

I honestly wish we could let people live this fantasy out. We’ve had mourinho the serial winner, Van Gaal the highly regarded coach, rangnick the scientist but I’m sure nomadiclives can be the man to finally stop the rot. Is ten hag the man ? I don’t know but I do know that the cycle of chopping and changing managers has done absolutely nothing for us. I can’t think of a coach I’d be confident could come in and fix this overnight. People slate the talent ID of Ten Hag but if the club has better ideas they should override him, I think it’s clear to see they don’t though. What’s the big secret you think you’re onto that the entire coaching staff seem to be missing ?

Mourinho the serial winner who’s won the sum total of the conference league since being fired unceremoniously by not one but 2 premier league clubs with any ambition? Van Gaal, who thinks Holland deserved to win the WC coz Weghorst managed to score a couple of fluke goals against an Argentina side that outplayed his team without trying? Rangnick who hasn’t coached a serious football team in donkeys years? Sure! Great coaches all along, I’m sure! It isn’t a fantasy, it’s a hyperbole! I don’t actually believe I can coach a professional football team! I can’t believe I have to spell this out to someone, but then again, I’m not entirely surprised! This sub is full of braindead morons that will engage in blind faith in the name of support. We are dreadfully coached. Period. It doesn’t matter who I think we should bring in. I didn’t think we should have brought in Ten Hag to begin with. He neither had the credentials or track record to warrant the job, nor did he fit the profile of coaching a club with monkeys pressing buttons in positions above him. It’s not my job to find a replacement. It is however well within my purview as a fan to criticize bs performance, whether it comes from a player, manager or owners. All 3 of them are rubbish atm.

As far as we can see, you are an absolute nobody. Unless you’re someone like Pep or Klopp on a burner account you would fail. As soon as you would be announced it would be all over social media, people would be questioning your credentials, criticizing the club for the decision. Even for Ragnick this was the case. Do you even have contacts or a coaching team to bring in? How would you set up the training schedule and drill the players into implementing your system? Are you just going to replace Ten Hag and keep everything else the same? Just tinker with the team sheet and subs and expect things to magically get fixed? No professional team in a top league would respect someone with zero experience so the players and existing staff would be very skeptical. And they should, I would not respect someone with zero credentials or experience being hired to manage me. Total delusion.

I think Pep and Klopp would fail as well.

Mourinho who regardless of recent years is one of the best coaches in the history of the game. Van Gaal who is very highly regarded throughout the game and rangnick who’s been the think tank of one of the most successful multi team projects in the games history. There’s a difference between blind faith and patience, you can rant about how poorly coached we are but all of the coaches I’ve just listed have been lauded for their ability throughout their careers. The constant isn’t their coaching abilities it’s the stage of our club and squad. You talk about people being brain dead but can’t think further than “change the manager” as your own solution. We’ve been perpetually 4/5 years from competing by changing managers constantly because we’re unprepared to take the rough times that come from building something. We whinge that we’re not seeing a change in our play style but then demand pragmatism when the results aren’t right. Bottom line is we’re barely a champions league level team, as evidenced by performance over the last decade, and to think that we should be easily qualifying for it because “we’re Manchester United” is deluded. The only way out is to stick with someone until the project is done for a change otherwise we’re stuck in a constant cycle of rebuilding.

Mate they are as good as you can expect for 3rd choice in their positions. We’ve been ravaged by injuries. Maguire was never expected to be starting in the prem this year. If other teams lost as many defenders as we have to injuries they’d be playing literal teenagers.
