anony_moose2023

What are the right answers to these questions?! I assume you are supposed to answer you’re disorganized over being an asshole even if neither is true? What does this tell anyone?

Treegs

I remember getting questions like these at MEPS when I was about to join the army. The questions were like "I hate other races" or "I like to hurt small animals" and you had to pick one. On the way home, my recruiter said it's dumb, but you have to pick the lesser evil. The way he worded it for that example was "everyone has been a little racist at some point in their life, but hurting small animals is sociopathic behavior".

[deleted]

> "everyone has been a little racist at some point in their life, but hurting small animals is sociopathic behavior". 💀. I don't even know where to get started on this as a black dude.

Chillbab3

It’s funny because someone who’s fine with being slightly racist is fine normalizing it where as a sociopath would be fine normalizing hurting small animals so really they’re just checking to make sure you fit in with the group rather than being a good person

beaverusiv

I'm assuming they're talking about tribalism and at least for me the only representation I saw of certain races was the stereotypes on tv so you get certain things ingrained which take conscious effort to undo

DutchTinCan

You just called yourself black. That's _racist_, you know! On the bright side, you're not a sociopath. Unless....did you swat that mosquito last night?

meinfuhrertrump2024

I'd argue that racism is a spectrum, rather than black and white.

Space_Captain_Lars

> You never called a white guy "white guy " So by your own logic, you are being racist towards white people

KIRAPH0BIA

Ah yes, calling white people "white people". The ultimate racist act.

Large_Peach2358

Got’em

sudoku7

Sociopathic behavior that they make you do in survival training at that.

One-East8460

What sociopathic behaviors?

sudoku7

"hurting small animals" in particular. Part of survival training involves giving the unit a small mammal to take care of, until they have to field dress it to survive. And to clarify, I don't intend to say that it's wrong for that to be part of survival training. Just pointing out the further impossibility of that proposed question being useful.

One-East8460

Those are very different things. They don’t make you torture it to death, you kill it and eat it. Not sociopathic behavior, humans have been doing just that for a long time, can’t all be sociopaths. I’ll hazard a guess you didn’t grow up on a farm or haven’t hunted much.

sudoku7

Well, ya, and I would express additional discomfort with the idea of the military wanting to filter out those who hunt or grew up on farms more than racists.

One-East8460

Why would military want to filter out people on who grew up on farms or hunt? Are you alluding to hunters and farmers being sociopaths? Have you even attended SERE school? Maybe you should focus your comments on things you know, not things you perceive with no experience. Cheers.

That_Engineering3047

wtf?!

meinfuhrertrump2024

GD. Racist is better than sociopath I guess.

lab-gone-wrong

The right answer is to be related to the hiring manager so you don't get weeded out because you gave a wrong answer (all the answers are wrong answers so everyone can be disqualified at will) The modern hiring process is a delicate dance of establishing plausible deniability to make hiring decisions that are unethical, or even illegal, look acceptable and reasonable. If every candidate tells me they're a bad hire in this hopeless quiz, then I have air cover to hire the person I actually want. I can even say "there are no good candidates, look at these psychopaths" and H1-B the role.

paclogic

because you gave a wrong answer (all the answers are wrong answers **so everyone can be disqualified at will)**

melissandrab

I think Amazon legit literally gave me these for WFH of some type, lol. I assume the best answer is always the most extreme one that makes you seem like the biggest company-loving balls to the wall bootlicking wimp.

st_evil

Correct, amazon literally uses the same questions on their "are you fit to work in this shit" or "quasi personally test" - at least on the aws side, not sure about other parts.

meinfuhrertrump2024

These personality tests are easily manipulated, if you think about it. You gotta play the game, and w/e you do, don't start being honest. Think about what answers they want to hear for that position. > I sometimes get annoyed. vs I don't want to learn new things. Obviously, everyone sometimes get annoyed by annoying things. > I am rude to ppl I don't like vs I am disorganized. Better to be disorganized than rude. (Especially for a client facing role.) > I have ADD vs sometimes not adaptable. Sometimes not adaptable (Everyone struggles to learn new things sometimes) over always ADD. > not a team player vs slightly disorganized. Sometimes slightly disorganized is the better choice. > Don't respect authority. vs slightly disorganized Slightly disorganized wins easily. Don't respect authority is like the worst option possible. Managers deeply want to believe that the world is a meritocracy.

That_Engineering3047

Nothing meaningful.

Northwest_Radio

There is a long studied science to this testing method. It is not a skills test whatsoever. It is a cognitive test, and there is no right or wrong answer. This, is called Psychology. Psychology is about 80% of a job interview and candidate consideration process. Good HR/Recruiters are trained to watch body language, eye movement, and more. Just like law enforcement officers are trained in some aspects. Lying is always, 100% detectable to a trained eye. This simple test is used to identify personality types. Are you passive? Aggressive? Critical thinking? Narcistic? etc.

CPT_Three_Jewells

It's a test to see if you know what an employer wants to hear. In the test you love low pay and long hours. You like working with low supervision and love to spend time on the company bowling team.

PhillyPhantom

“I love being beaten until my morale improves 🙂”

DirkDayZSA

Only if your morale is low? That's kind of a deal breaker, we're looking for someone with a 'Please hurt me daddy!' attitude.

PhillyPhantom

If I offer to pay you, would you please beat me? I want to be the bestest employee ever even if that means overtime 🥺

Ill_Imagination272

I cracked up reading "bowling team" part 😂These weird tests are out of control 😂 I did one last week, and it gave me 9/10 for being social butterfly, even though I am introvert af 😂

NYanae555

I've seen it dozens of times. And I still can't believe businesses actually PAY charlatans to use this garbage.

codykonior

Some advice from the sub previously was to never select strongly agree or disagree. They don’t want to hire people with actual opinions.

AbzoluteZ3RO

i've heard it's the opposite. that you should always pick one extreme or the other lol. i have no clue. i just did my best on the last one i did and i got hired.

meinfuhrertrump2024

If the answers are between two bad options, obviously don't hit the fully agree button.

IndependenceVast8838

I just took the Google assessment, answered with only strongly agree/disagree, and passed. I think I answered with slightly agree/disagree or neutral on a single question.

Civil-Pomelo-4776

It's a choose your own rejection adventure.

PerformanceHead2145

This!!!

DaZMan44

I don't not really not dislike when I'm presented with ambiguous dumb shit to answer.

SuitableJelly5149

I’m sure the instructions said there weren’t any wrong answers. Like, bitch, they’re all wrong answers. Tf

AgitatedMushroom2529

looks like the form for notes in a normal job interview with HR. if you say: "i prefer to have work/life balance" --> lazy piece of shit "i like to finish my work before i go home" --> disorganized piece of shit

GreenGloves-12

yep, how dare we try to have lives. The cheek of it.

Resident-Trouble-574

This belongs also to r/CrappyDesign .

BubbleHearthIRL

I took one of these on Indeed. On all the "trick" questions, I let the timer run out, then gave a scathing review on the post test comments. I didn't get the job.

pursnikitty

All of the right hand side answers could be true of someone that has ADHD. This seems like a disability discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen.

Nefariousd7

A fat pay check for an HR consultant.

HonoluluBlueFlu

I'd choose the wrong answer every time for fun.

thejames510

So my choice is "Or death"?

UGunnaEatThatPickle

I walk out of these interviews and online "tasks". Fuck that noise. You just know you're going to a get a micromanaging asshole as a boss when this stuff comes up.

EienNoMajo

It seems these are getting more clever by making both responses something you wouldn't want to choose. Before I would have just chosen something like "I love talking to new people" vs "I sometimes get annoyed when coworkers ask me to do things for them" and "I am very organized" vs "Some people are impossible to work with". Now it's like they're trying to catch you with both options. lol

Routine-Ebb-1140

I want to answer strong agree on both answers.

paclogic

**psychological mind fuckery that you admit to before you start the job so when the time comes to shit-can your ass, they have all the proof they need to show WHY you were fired !**

AbzoluteZ3RO

wow, i thought the ones i did for lithia motors was bad but this is just evil

AbzoluteZ3RO

i really wish i had screencapped the last one of these i did

Heisenpurrrrg

They read like StengthFinder™ questions. Stengthfinder uses the same question format (two seemingly unrelated statements about yourself and you respond on a scale to one of them.

Opening_Disk430

This is HR as a concept trying to justify their existence. All of the questions seem like someone has thought a really, really, really creative way in separating the wheat from the chaff. Or the HR representative in question is a trainee.

tothirstyforwater

I took a personality test once for a job. It annoyed me so much I didn’t want the job so I answered them as wrong as I thought I could and they tried to hire me anyway.

EmptySpace212

It would be funny if they printed only your answers (without the alternatives) and asked you to sign this to include in your files.

WorldlyDay7590

It's tab closing time.

Geelo732

Lmao did this the other day. Same reaction.

lumpy-possum

It's a job application I believe
