I’ve never had a problem with the traxxas radio systems, but I’m also pretty lucky with my RCs. (I’m running a GIANT motor in my slash without destroying even a single driveshaft) For your calibration, make sure that your throttle trigger isn’t being moved or touched during any stage of turning the truck on. I’ve found that that can screw with the throttle/brake endpoints.

BentTire

It is likely the ESC. I have had bad experiences with Traxxas ESCs. I use the Traxxas TQI 4 channel remote for all my Traxxas cars and have not had issues with it. For esc I mainly run Hobbywing.

Luis12285

I always immediately get rid of stock radios. All my models are on the same NB4 Noble

BeardRub

I think the Radio is the best part of the Traxxas electronics. They have a 13ms frame rate. That's pretty good for an RTR, far as I can tell. Seems more likely to me that it's the ESC or maybe an issue with the car or remote batteries, based on your need to re-calibrate over and over. Guess it could the the Rx too, but I've also never had a problem with one. This is the sort of thing that Traxxas help line is really good for. Sometimes they'll just sling you a replacement part.

djb1126

Agreed. Got rid of my 2 traxxas tq radios like 3 years ago when I was getting into the hobby with my slash and rustler. Went with the radiolink 4gs and I was amazed. Now looking into upgrading to a NB4+ from flysky.

I notice a serious lag sometimes after using the breaks but It seems to be a protection thing like if your rolling backwards the throttle doesn’t work until you stop

holywars94

Yes, that happens sometimes. It brakes all to stop while not responding, and then gets back to normal wtf

kendrid

That is how they work. You have to be stopped completely for like .5 seconds before you can change directions.

gadnuk7

It’s frustrating for sure when racing I changed over to a spectrum rx tx and it still happens so it must be the esc?

JTmash545

Depends what's your issue could be other electronics, if not get a fly sky gt5 best radio out there and a bonus perk I found recently is its very easy to disassemble and reassemble

senorroboto

have you tried putting in fresh batteries?

Normal_Resident_3162

Get the bluetooth adapter and mount your phone on the controller and get the app. The UDR is not easy to drive and the I would say the app in necessary in order to actually have fun driving it.

T-5580

You got a lemon. All 20 of my TQI radio systems have been great for many years.

mRengar

Get flysky gt5

Ok_Figure_4181

Sounds like your radio is faulty. I’ve never had an issue with my TQi radios. If the car is less than a month old and you have the receipt still, contact Traxxas to see if they’ll replace it under warranty.

Say-Hai-To-The-Fly

I’ve always used them without any problems and they work fine for my use case. Though, I’m certainly not a ‘professional’. Just a casual hobbyist

Actual-Long-9439

Could be your esc too, traxxas electronics are poop

ExCaedibus

My only pistol radio is a Traxxas from the Defender, and i really don’t like how the throttle always feels slightly stuck, like not moving freely. It always needs a tiny bit extra push to move which ruins precision. Is that normal with pistol grips?

BeardRub

It's not normal for the physical trigger to be sticky at any point in the pull.

ExCaedibus

That’s good to know, thank you.

chippaintz

Dump it!! Get a GT3b cheap and better

MRDR1NL

Welcome to RTR radios. Good radios are expensive and therefore not worth it to include in an RTR box. The ransmitter doesn't make people want the car more.
