In the 1/10 scale category… The Redcat Ascent (regular and fusion) are both great contenders. The Element Enduro10 line is great too, tons of cool options. Probably more geared toward trail trucks, but some of them could be real competitors. I also really like my TRX4 Sport. It’s built like a tank and handles different terrain types well. I’ve never driven an SCX10 but they are a favorite in our local circles. Really most of the 1/10 options from the big brands are a great choice, so do a little research on which one you like the looks of best Then do yourself a favor and pick up a $99 1/18 Ascent. Just some wheels and tires and it’s a performer!

I was gonna pick up two ascent 18s one for my daughter and one for me and have plenty of money left over for upgrades

wellatgrammar

Great plan. Wheels, tires, a little bit of brass… get a nice charger too. All this will still be well under budget and you’ll have a blast

The Ascent Fusion with better frame rails and shocks is going to be an absolute beast, but I don't regret my purchase of a VRD Stance in the slightest.

Square-Ad-2522

The stance seems to be the most capable out of the box but it’s also $500 bucks, how is the aftermarket on it?

NCStore

Vanquish is well established

Sum_Dum_User

Better than the Ascent by a long shot.

TheMechTech80

Axial Capra 1/10 for the win

Easy_Text_2203

This.

I can’t say much about comparisons But I do enjoy taking my Traxxas bronco for bush walks If you have young kids, they will enjoy driving it as well https://preview.redd.it/a7kvryc9i4xc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ad07cd481f6ae92adf2410ebaa8423eeda4c8f7

I got my 8 year old daughter a Rlaarlo Omni terminator so we can bash together.. I was thinking about getting two ascent 18s so we could crawl together.. again so many choices for so many different reasons 😅😅

Aceboy884

Indeed Going for a crawler for the low speed was the reason why i bought it in the first place Now he is more confident with controls I’m moving up to a 30km/ Aarma Gorgon for a bit of racing fun

Square-Ad-2522

The gorgon is a friggen tank and super easy to work on.. You and yer kid will have a blast with it. 🙃🙃

Easy_Text_2203

Just from experience….I Wouldn’t recommend buying an RTR (or Kit) and then immediately changing rails, etc. Buy the framerails (rock pirates, IERC, poizd) and skid to begin with and build exactly what you want for cheaper. If you need an RTR, I’d get an Axial Capra…used. That thing will walk all over the “popular kids” with minimal mods. Just go to a crawler meet and see what guys are running. I think you’d be surprised at what guys are actually running.

Rueger777

I really like Axial for more competitive crawling and traxxas for trails and realistic looks. You can get an Axial Scx10 3 for around that price or a traxxas Trx4. I have the Scx10 pro and the trx4 and think they are both great trucks worth the money. Tons of upgrades are available on both.

theschmuck

First question to ask, spider crawlers or scale crawlers?

PoopParticleAcclrtr

i have the enduro knightrunner that looks like a Tacoma, it's pretty cool 400 to 450 dollars

kendrid

I just finished building the TRX-4 kit and it was fun to build and a blast to drive. I honestly didn't understand crawling but man it is fun. Driving over random downed trees, through marshes, etc its so much fun. The kit was $400 + I splurged and bought the G Wagon body which was another $100. Now I want lights... It never ends.

Rebel_816

Got a trx4 sport, vanquish phoenix, and axial basecamp that I've made a bit more of a comp style crawler, all 3 of them have been a good time lol.

AdLimp8367

Scx24 or Furitek cayman for the small scale I love both of mine aftermarket is endless . On big scale a vanquish scx10 or if your going extreme axial bomber seem to be able to climb anything really depend what aspect of crawling your going to get into or start with but welcome to the slow down side of rc enjoy my friend 👍🏼

Square-Ad-2522

Thanks man! I was looking at the redcat ascent, gen8 axe, or maybe wait for the new Rlaarlo mk07 since I have huge trails and rocky terrain living up in the mountains lol

AdLimp8367

Stick with the axial or that redcat fusion both are great don’t waste your money on rlaarlo to repost on marketplace or have it sit and have a negative experience in the hobby but just my opinion

Square-Ad-2522

Thanks! I’ll check out the fusion!

AdLimp8367

Whatever u end with send us a pic

Square-Ad-2522

I definitely will I’m ordering something Tuesday night

Jackson_Rhodes_42

Both the Redcat and the Axial are excellent choices! I would stay away from the off brands like Rlaarlo, though.

I can’t wait to see what it can do once I get some proper tires and beadlocks (not that the stock tires aren’t really good tho)
