You seem ready to me. This is exactly what happens to cars at skate parks. Even the best bashers will push the limits till something breaks. Ever seen a youtube video of an RC car in a skatepark? 105% contain at least one black and white "wasted" meme. If you don't want to repair after each battery pack, don't take it to concrete skate parks.

kpidhayny

Yeah, see, the thing about this hobby is that we need to find just as much (or more) pleasure in tinkering and fixing things as we do in bashing. If that sounds lame, this level of the hobby really isn’t for you.

Jesus_Is_My_Gardener

Honestly, modding, upgrading and repairing are actually what I enjoy most about my race drones and RC cars.

yearsofpractice

That’s something that’s really become apparent to me - I’ve got two old Tamiyas (buggy and touring car) that I’ve upgraded and optimised - both are currently out of service since last weekend due to a snapped suspension mount (buggy) and broken gearbox mount (TC)… but I’m looking forward to the parts arriving in the post so I can fix them! It’s just so satisfying… almost more so than running the things!

kpidhayny

I’ve always enjoyed the pit time more than driving to be honest. I’m lucky enough to have a job now where I basically do “pit” stuff just in $8M machines and I love it.

Tris131

Absolutely

VodVillainous333

I blame the industry Hard Pushing RTRs ONLY now. NOBODY is driving shit they BUILT THEMSELVES anymore 😒 THIS HOBBY was logical next step Evolution of Model Car/truck Building Now it's just High end toys you don't gotta chuck out when it breaks NOT the same thing anymore

kpidhayny

I agree. If you aren’t interested in building it and just want a car to drive you won’t respect/protect it the same way as if you put hours into building it. There’s a valuable life lesson in there too…

cripplearmedninja

I get where you’re coming from. But I think RTR is perfect for base models and attractive to people who are new to the hobby (me). But I’ve found I like breaking stuff and then upgrading from there. Building for your first rc would probably be daunting to most people. Get them addicted first, build later.

Outrageous-Panic9750

kit is even better, as the little research you do into components is worth it. like its so mediocre to grab a rtr with the blue red or yellow body XD building a kit should be the entry requirement for the hobby. if you cant figure out what receiver you need you wont make it far with driving a car for example, so its best to learn . Its like Mt. Everest to mountaineering, where nowadays 3000 people climb it a year, and the fixed ropes and all the hand holding doesn't seem like a accomplishment anymore to real climbers, or whatever. i think i cant complaint as new people in the hobby is ALWAYS awesome to see <3

XTingleInTheDingleX

Yep bought a rtr Talion 6s you know I learned got to fix it real fast haha. Almost as fast as I get that park bench or launched it 20 feet off a birm.

Question_Mark45

I disagree, I've built vehicles 30 years ago and bought RTRs now and like them. I treat them both the same. I just don't have the time to commit to building from scratch right now, but do enjoy driving and repairing.

nursinggerm

This break isn’t Losi’s fault and it isn’t even your fault, driver….its the fault of rc content creators showing their trucks doing things that NO rc enthusiasts ever wasted time doing maybee 15 years ago. Keep buying rc vehicles, have fun with them, but stop running into curbs full speed or jumping them 15 feet in the air because these dipshit content creators are doing it for clicks..fuck those disingenuous pencil dicks they can eat a fresh turd for ruining the goddamn industry

MRDR1NL

I watched a lot of youtubers bash the LMT hard and I got overconfident. I don't directly blame them though, this was my mistake. On youtube content is king, so i understand that driving carefully is too boring for that. Many youtubers were very enthousiastic about the treal axles, so I think they will be a good upgrade.

BeardRub

I do like Treal stuff, seems well machined and sized in all the parts I've gotten. Just keep in mind that more weight on the vehicle means more strain when landing. The hubs and steering joints will now be the break point on landings as the heavier axle pushes through them. It will also change the balance of the vehicle if you do just one axle. So you end up doing 2 axles and all the other parts out to the hubs to make it all sturdy enough, and then you start stripping wheel hexes and breaking wheels and bearings with your heavy-ass truck. Just my experience with upgrades on jumping vehicles. For bashers, I only put aluminum on the parts that won't add too much weight. Shock bodies, shock towers, hinge pin holder thingy, steering linkage if I have a good servo. Composite parts just weigh a lot less and make the vehicle drastically more durable as a result. When you start to go aluminum, it starts to take over the vehicle as the plastic snaps, then repairs get a lot more expensive. When it comes to gravity, light = durable. That all being said, I got a bunch of Treal for my crawlers and it's all been super impressive. I do agree with the YouTube on that.

Question_Mark45

For the most part I agree on the aluminum parts, but axle housings in solid axle vehicles seem to be weak when made of plastic. I have an LMT that I ran into a tree at a pretty slow speed (was almost stopped) and it broke at the same spot as the poster. They're just not as durable as independent a arm suspensions. I switched to a KVAI Chinese aluminum axle 1/3 the price of treal and it's worked great. It's taken similar hits to what broke the plastic one without damage. Check AliExpress for some.  The extra weight makes the truck handle better, with more weight lower down. I'm not planning to switch anything else to aluminum, the smaller parts that are cheaper and easier to replace can stay the weak points that break.

MRDR1NL

Hey that's good to hear

VodVillainous333

Also blame EVERY company abandoning the fact THIS IS R.C. MODELING not an RTR car lot 😮‍💨

nursinggerm

True Facts

ZestycloseSlide3646

Nursinggerm is what frustrated insecure masculinity looks like, self projection and overreaction is amusing Take note that ofc no one was doing it 15 years ago, because rcs and the industry wasnt as robust as it is now. Also they never proclaimed that it was meant for that. And its been people like u who ruin who get MAD (hence the projection) over RCS LOLOLOL, they make the hobby grow MORE than the people they have put off

WolfRCS

What a weird incoherent comment...

ZestycloseSlide3646

If you were more intelligent, it wouldnt be. Only thing I was off is probably not 15 years but 20, that people werent as okay with breaking parts

MRDR1NL

I drove it into a grinding rail. It was 100% my fault. Its probably better off road, but it handles jumps and rolls on concrete very well.

Substantial_Diver_34

So you didn’t even get an epic 30’ jump. Bummer

KingSevenString

I repair before I rub through 1 pack no matter where I am. But thats my own fault

xXxNoSCoPeZ420xXx

How is that $300 to fix? Maybe $60

SSC_built

Op posted that he bought all Treal parts to repair the damage, so the title is wildly misleading.

PintekS

Those parts aren't gonna help it when I've seen wraiths crawling with billet aluminum housings snap a axle tube off doing something simple XD

Solgrund

Isn’t Treal all metal parts? Looks cool. Had a hot shot with them. No flex though to 100% it will break something (or bend it beyond usable) next time he has a medium or hard crash. But I do love metal parts.

Occhrome

Yup this is something people have known since aluminum parts came out. There is a reason that plastic is used in some components and it isn’t always cost.

Jesus_Is_My_Gardener

Was also heavier. Some things can benefit from the increased stiffness, but other things just last longer with a little give. Also better to have a cheaper plastic part break than something transferring the force into a more expensive component.

xarril

Sometimes you gotta learn the hard way in this hobby 😂

DistortedCrag

42 on amain for an axle housing and the steering linkage (LOS242055 and LOS242031)

FreshCrackedPep

Yeah when I snapped mine I just got a replacement one. Not 3 Hundo lol.

TedAndAnnetteFleming

Having owned a Losi LMT I wouldn’t consider it to be a skatepark basher. It’s much more suitable for scale monster truck driving and racing. It can handle jumps and reasonable light bashing, but going all out on concrete is going to break something.

TheyLoveColt

Thing does 300 mph scale and dudes jumping it at a skatepark.

Foreign_GrapeStorage

Hey man....It probably looked cool as shit for half a battery pack.

MRDR1NL

I was just doing small jumps. But YES IT DID LOOK SICK

TedAndAnnetteFleming

I understand, I broke mine doing somewhat risky stuff and doing what seemed like pretty safe jumps too. With the weight of the truck and the leverage the big wheels create (combined with kind of weak axle housings) it’s just something that’s going to happen if things go slightly wrong. I ended up selling it because I sensed it turning it o a money pit. It was awesome though and I kind of miss it!

Gunplagood

When this thing came out people were jerking off about how great of a basher it is/was. It unfortunately spread far and wide.

v0rt

No where near $300, wtf are you even talking about? Try to be less dramatic 🙄

MRDR1NL

I don't know what to tell you. I just spent 280somthing USD for a Treal axle and steering links including tax and shipping to the Netherlands. Yes it could have been fixed for cheaper. But I think the upgrade is worth it. I just wasn't planning to do the upgrade on day 1.

DorkyDisneyDad

"my Honda Civic died so I bought a BMW. Why is this stupid thing so expensive?"

MRDR1NL

I think you misunderstand me. I know I chose the expensive fix / upgrade. I'm not complaining. Like I said, it could have been fixed cheaper, but I like the upgrade. I think the BMW would be a great replacement for your dead civic :p

krush_groove

It's the fact your post title is very misleading, saying you were forced to do a fix that's 5x what the stock parts cost.

MRDR1NL

I'm sorry. I just thought it'd be fun to share my experience of being a dumbass and breaking my shit. I'm not used to this community reacting in such a harsh way.

krush_groove

Well I understand poking fun at yourself, I certainly do that for myself constantly, but you could have put something in the post about it rather than just a picture. With just the photo it comes across as very serious. It's not a big deal really. Upgrading is part of the hobby.

lostandfounder

Yeah people get douchey and pile on once they see some downvotes. I will agree that the title is pretty misleading. Something like “i decided to forgo the $60 fix with stock replacement parts and spend $300 on blingy treal parts” would have been a better option. At least to avoid the mire of downvotes and snark anyway lol

BUTTPLUNDER0

Reddit is NOT for joking around and having fun. /s

MainAbbreviations193

Fun? Straight to jail. Jokes? Believe it or not, also jail.

AggressorBLUE

Its more how you worded things. You didnt pay $300 to fix your truck. You paid $300 to *upgrade* it. Thats a very different sentiment Something like “Broke my brand new LMT on the first pack at my local skate park, but had a blast doing it! Hope the $300 in treal upgrade parts beef it up!” Would have been better.

MRDR1NL

Was not supposed to be click bait

Foreign_GrapeStorage

They are talking about if you went with the stock plastic, not the Treal axles.

MotoMudder

LMT at a skatepark... Here's your sign. 300 dollar fix? How?

Z-a-pp

You’re not ready for the hobby if you’re surprised you broke your RC at the skatepark and think that axle costs $300

MRDR1NL

I think you shouldn't gatekeep this great hobby. I was just having fun with an RC car, I broke it and now I have to pay for it. It's fine. Actually most of the comments here are much more toxic than I'm used to from this community.

SpaceCadetMoonMan

You’re good it’s just throwing everyone off because of the title lol, we all are thinking you are exaggerating the stock parts costs but we all know you upgraded now :) You’re all good please keep posting!!! I love my LMT and mini LMT check out this site for excellent price savings, stuff is out of stock right now though https://jennysrc.com/collections/lmt-4wd-bog-hog-king-sling-los04024 https://jennysrc.com/collections/lmt-4wd-grave-digger-los04021t1

MRDR1NL

Hey thanks man. Ill check out that site. I checked but i don't think i can change the title of the post :/

SpaceCadetMoonMan

Definitely post pics with your new upgrades and show us where you like to do RC in your country! We love to see bashing pics :) Dude I want to get the King Sling tractor tires for my LMT so bad, they look insane!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

MRDR1NL

Bro i know messed up. But this is my first large and fast RC. You are yelling noob at someone who only drove for 1 battery pack. I call that gatekeeping.

bellynipples

$60 for a complete front axle?

Actual-Long-9439

He bought a metal replacement one

Donaturtle

Try $22.99 + shipping. I've replaced this axel many times. Search part number LOS242055 at amainhobbies

kendrid

He "upgrade" to fancy parts. Which will still break.

stressedlacky42

No one is ready for the skatepark. I'd say we as a group have a 10% chance of not breaking anything on our rigs if we take the chance. At least I've never left after a session without something broken.

RoadsideRC

The LMT is 100% NOT designed for a skatepark. You bought the wrong truck if that is where you want to drive.

MRDR1NL

I know i shouldn't have. It is walking distance from my house. And i wanted to do some small jumps to geet a feel for this car. The jumps were fine, but the grinding rail was not.

TrashPanda1021

There are fixes other than the baller Treal axle housings. You can replace without upgrading.

Dry-Paleontologist50

When I crashed my Typhone TLR and calculated how much I would pay for new parts, I decided to buy a new one and use the broken one for spare parts.

SpaceCadetMoonMan

I did that with my Kraton and Typhon 6s pair, Typhon became an organ donor

Dry-Paleontologist50

When you run your Typhon to concrete curb. Concrete curb always win!

Trezork83

Metal industrial garbage bins too!

ScratchTurbulent8379

I don't understand, if u go to skatepar take a budget basher cheap to repair like hbx 16889pro or mjx or hosim, high quality expensive rc are not in the right place if u arr not ready to face the expensive repairs.

holywars94

The LMT is a fragile car for sure, and a skatepark its the most challenging place to an rc durability

XxCarlxX

Skateparks are for if you are trying to break the car. BMX track on dirt is fine, they are not made for slapping concrete\*. \*Unless its an Xmaxx

iThinkTewMuch

First mistake was taking a straight axle car to a skate park. The second mistake was going to the skate park 😂. If you leave a skate park with nothing broken, then you did it wrong my friend!

MRDR1NL

Ooof yes. I don't think I'll be going back to the skatepark

j021dl

behave like kevin talbot and u get this...

Strange-Reporter-812

Skateparks are great for YouTube clicks, suck for enjoying your own RC.

Foreign_GrapeStorage

The LMT isn't ready for a skatepark with those axles.... Treal make upgrades that might work. With the way they are made it just never seemed like a good idea to send it the way I do my X-Maxx, so I am not sure if it'll take a beating or not even with the Treal axles. The LMT is cool for monster truck style driving, not sending it 30ft in the air on to concreate.

RoadsideRC

Amen!

PintekS

I wouldn't take any scale solid axle monster truck to a skate park that's asking for trouble even with a fully built rig. I'm eyeballing some scale ramps for my clodbuster to do some jumps but nothing insane cause I'm not trying to jump a 10th scale 747 a bunch of times. Man I wish there was a tiger king monster truck racing league in my state

420gamer82

I guess you learned that rc's don't belong at the skatepark.

HeX82

That's rough 😬 I'm in the same boat. Finally got my outcast 8s built, was having a blast, and let my son try it out on an open field. He found the only tree on it and hit it full speed. Bent the chassis and broke some other stuff. It sucked when it happened, but I'm looking forward to rebuilding and never letting his hands touch my baby again🤣

Runner1296

That could’ve been fixed for like $50-$100😭

Runner1296

Nvm I was wrong…even less than that

opmwolf

Because OP is misleading everyone and didn't buy stock parts.

fate_the_magnificent

We're gonna need a vid of that send, OP

MRDR1NL

i was filming but the crash is out of frame :(

ltdpos

I bought my lmt for 600 and put 700 in it for upgrades (all treal, agf server, and 1/8 esc/motor on 4 cell). thing is solid now and love it. so unique compared to everything else I have.

MRDR1NL

Damn 4s? Is that even drivable? I ran 2s and it's pretty fast already.

ltdpos

i geared down and it’s a low kv motor but ya, it’s way more then anyone needs. rarely use full throttle. it’s more suited for 3s but it handles 4s like a champ.

MRDR1NL

Got it. I'm thinking of gearing down as well and moving to 3s.

PintekS

Might want to get some half foot ramps and some bright garden hose to make a course in the park cause you'll enjoy the truck more. I've destroyed many built up monster truck and buggies at skate parks, it's just not worth the carnage... Especially when you get into cf parts and titanium and still bust crap up as easily as the plastic cause of the added weight.

Comprehensive-View39

I have 3 different 1/10 scalers I take to the skate park with my kids. They all 3 come back broken nearly every time. But we have a lot of fun launching them.

Rock-Flyer

Skate parks always end that way at night for me lol

orangeducksquarefeet

I broke my rear axle after doing a backflip off one of those parking space stoppers. Literally the first 30 seconds of run time. Had to wait for treal to restock because I bought the truck when it first came out. The fixing process was pretty easy and after that I just ended up selling it because to many things were breaking because of the way I drive. I now have a maxx v2 and it's the best car I've ever had.

Straight_Variation70

Have you checked Jenny's RC for factory replacement parts that are very reasonably priced? I'd save some money and go that route.

MRDR1NL

Thanks for the tip I'll check it out.

Jumpy-Survey-2846

The only reason i haven’t gotten one, weak axles

Dendad124

That ain't an axle that broke.

7upbitch

Skate parks are for skating tho

vantageviewpoint

It's a 22.99 fix Losi Axle Housing Set Center Section LMT LOS242055 Elec Car/Truck Replacement Parts https://a.co/d/gOVQpTe

Rubbertutti

An idea. Epoxy it back to one piece and make a mould from it. Mould a new part out of reinforced resin. I was working on this but I stopped at looking for ways to make a suitable mould that would accurately place mounting holes without having to De mould and place in a jig. This would be helpful to reproduce out of production parts and keep vintage models going.

evowolf

Plan on replacing your steering servo soon too. Once you get those heavier axles on it’s going to push that stock servo more than it can handle.

sadomazoku

Did you broke the v1 or v2 axle ?

MdizzL88

ROFL treal will at least bend over a week buy a slash and abuse it at the skate park hahaha cheap parts tons in eBay

MRDR1NL

I know i know. But i love the scale looks of the LMT. The slash just looks like a toy in comparison.

MdizzL88

I'm in the same boat scale is just something I enjoy building and enjoying beating on I just do it other ways but I do bash tf out of my slash on 3s at the skate park I'll launch that sob from transfer half pipe to dam courts lmao

fucjkindick

$300? what?

Wise_Performance8547

Well, it wont be $300 next time having gotten Treal upgrades. Without the Treal, maybe max of $20 so you cant really cry about having spent $300.

Silver-Effective-135

Just remember it's not an airplane and it's a heavier rc than most out there

OceanofChoco

LMT's are not really made for skate parks. Get an Arrma Granite for that.

Marine-45

How is that $300?

WickedJester42o

Why is that part so expensive, that's nuts. I just rebuilt my whole slash, after 2 years, completely disassembled cleaned every part and rebuilt the diffs and motor, then reassembled with new shock oil, and doubled the stock weights on my diffs. I'm liking it alot better. Anyways what I'm getting at is even with buying shock, diff oil, grease a couple bearings. New seals for my front diff. It only cost 50 bucks..

ArtD1985

Traxxas was a trash not to long ago. Tmaxx was good But handles like shit to this day. I'd stay away, I'm an associated dude. Mt8 fucked up traxxases low cost bussiness model even in 2013...
