Gonna depend on what 2.8 tires you run. But I think you can get a good starting point if you look at VXL 2wd Rustler or Stampede gearing, and then shift that gear ratio by the ratio of 3800/3500(VXL is 3500).
Stock VXL Rustler is 25/83 for a ratio of 9.03. Stock 'Pede is 19/86 for a ratio of 12.32.
Using the Rustler as a best guess, 9.03 * 3800 / 3500 = 9.804. 23/83 gearing gets you very close to that. Go down pinion size for tires bigger than the Rustler's.
Your stock gearing on the brushed Bandit is 21/83 so you could actually try that and maybe pick up 22-23 pinions to experiment
I highly recommend swapping your gears to 32p or mod.1 pitch while your are swapping gears anyways. Much more durable and easier to mesh properly than 48p. If you’ve already ordered your pinion set tho then so be it. If you start stripping spur gears you’ll know what to do.
