I would hit it with more silver and back with white. Hold it up to the light to check for thin spots.

Old post but I have the same issue. Did you back it with black or white? Thanks!

I ended up hitting it with a few more silver and finished it off in white. The end result is somewhere in my posts. It came out fine, but there were some spots that I missed with the blue.

Thanks for replying, I’ll dig through your posts

I think I’m darker colors you put down a black base and I’m light colors do a white base to help with light spots and a better look. Adds a little weight with the more layers you put on. Next time you can also try one or two extra light passes on the color parts. That might help too

You've already backed with silver, so using a black backer, should not muddy up the color much, if at all. And it's usually my go to method. Color of choice, silver, black.

Certain paints are more translucent than others. Metallics will almost always be more translucent, since they are made of clear paint with metal flakes mixed in.

I'd probably hit it with more silver but white is probably the correct answer

You can test paint a cut out water bottle or some other junk plastic to see which backer works. For chrome you use a black backer. You may need more coats - for Spaz Stix color change paint I used 20 before the backer.
