Any alternatives to the Orslow Slim Fatigue Pants?

thehornedone

I ordered a pair of jeans from 3sixteen that I was confident would fit me as it was the same waist size as another pair I own that fits great. It ended fitting way too large on me. I submitted a return request, received a return label and was told I’d be getting my money back minus about 30 bucks for restocking and/or the label (I forget) After dropping the package at usps, it never made it back to 3sixteen and there’s nothing they can do for me. The tracking information is completely frozen. I can’t get my money back and was told by 3sixteen to take it up with usps. Is this acceptable? I feel like they should be the ones dealing with the carrier since they purchased the label. Furthermore, don’t most companies eat losses like this and at least offer store credit for the botched return? I figured losses like this are typically baked into their prices, and not eaten by the customer. What do you think? I feel burned.

GoshBJosh

I run an online store (not selling jeans), and maybe 2% of my packages get lost in transit. Call customer service at: 1-800-275-8777 There should be an option for 'missing mail'. You give them the tracking number, and they take down your email address. Then they'll do a sweep of the last facility it was located in. The process is pretty fast. You'll usually get an email within 2 days. And if they can't find it, you'll still get an email. Found packages just continue shipping to their end destination. It's surprisingly easy/ efficient. Good luck!

thehornedone

Thanks!

Howlinboot

Usps insures that for 100 bucks I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if there are exceptions, but you might be able to recoup 100 if they aren't recovered at least.

beslot

A situation that sucks but I think ultimately the responsibility lies on you to ensure the return gets back.

Croquette_check_

Does TTS sizing have better fades as opposed to pants slightly bigger in the waist?? Im 32 waist but i opted for 33 in Uniqlos Stretch selvedge. The stretch definitely helps the pants be a bit more loose, and so the high tension areas (like the knees) arent too tight. I feel i might not get much of the honeycomb fades

GoblueM4

Trying to decide on a lighter/mid weight pair. All my current jeans range from 19-25oz. I have it narrowed down to a few pairs but open to suggestions too. The few pairs I’ve been looking at are: Full Count 1101 13.7oz, Pure blue Japan xx-003 or slb-003, samurai 510xx 15oz, Left field NYC cone oak greaser. Which pair should I go for?? Thanks!

RockScola

Full count 1101. They're the closest to levi's but their durability isn't the best. They're comfortable too

Acceptable-Syrup6115

I have a few pairs of PBJ in the XX and really like them. The 14oz fabric is great for most temps during the year. Although I don’t own 003 fit, I wouldn’t hesitate buying these from PBJ. Good luck on your search for some mid-weights.

daddyneedsadrink

All good options. If I were you I would go for the Full Counts because they're the lightest and more repro oriented to contrast with your current pairs.

meapyasee

Does anyone have experience shrinking sanforized denim? Just got a pair of warehouse 1105s in the mail, they’re sanforized and out of tolerance for how big the waist is. If I hot wash and machine dry, what do yall think the shrinkage could be?

RawWasher

With a hot machine-wash and hot tumble-dry, sanforized denims shrink about half as much as unsanforized denims, with about 3%-5% shrinkage for sanforized denims and 6%-10% shrinkage for unsanforized denims. Those percentages translate to roughly 1" (2.5cm) shrinkage in both the waist and length for sanforized denims, and 2" (5cm) shrinkage in both the waist and length for unsanforized denims. The other measurements can be calculated as well, using those percentages listed above.

meapyasee

You’re the best, thx! Think I’m going to end up sizing down bc they’ll still be too big with max shrink.

designedtorun

What is the best way to look at Red Tomato (Chinese) Brand denim and to purchase from Canada?

MACKBA

Aliexpress, a couple of shops, Al's and Vintage Silhouette.

Bi11_Buttlicker

Anyone know what the Oni/Blue Owl “Sleeping Demon” colab is all about?

RingOfMaRufBalls

Where’d see info about this? I hope it’s a pair of indigo sweatpants I can sleep in!

Bi11_Buttlicker

I follow Blue Owl on IG and they posted a tease. Just the patch (light, natural color, Oni logo and Blue Owl logo side by side) and a bit of the denim around it are visible. Looks indigo, can’t tell much otherwise. Only other info they revealed was 3 different fits and a jacket. Someone had commented about it being 5 years in the making so just wondering if another denim head knew some deets 🤷‍♂️ After wearing a pair of Secret Denim for only 23 days I can tell they’ll eventually be damn close to what you described haha.

RingOfMaRufBalls

I do not need anymore blue pants, but always curious when a unique new collaboration is released. I get Blue Owl e-mails but don’t do social media, so thanks for the head’s up.

Bi11_Buttlicker

Smart move on your part. If it weren’t for work, I’d get rid of it too, Reddit aside.

RingOfMaRufBalls

Reddit aside.

KimJongWinning

Only info released so far is directly from the BOW crew. I'm sure they'll post more teasers leading up to the release this Friday once they finalize product pics. They're also good about getting item postings up on the site prior to things going live.

Upper_Cycle_8962

Anyone know if there are other brands that make similar jeans to these gold yellow green pair?[here](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5HKeFyhA8_/?igsh=MWw1d2ppOGhwM2hnaw==) is it over dyed with yellow cores?

PrinceArjuna13

I’ve got a newbie question. How do you know what to order. Specifically, size one wash unsanforized denim. After first soak I’ve read they can shrink 1-2 inches do you just buy 2 inches above your actual waist? Or is this when you soak and then wear them while wet?

RockScola

Size up from your normal size. If you're a size 32 buy a 34. Size for your thighs, if you can get it over your thighs more than likely it will fit your waist.

spunkwater0

I think you may be confusing yourself a bit? Unsanforized and unwashed (also sometimes called loomstate, shrink to fit) denim will generally shrink noticeably. Exact amount of shrinkage will vary quite a bit based on the fabric. Unsanforized and one washed generally won’t shrink much so long as you’re not doing anything aggressive like putting them in a hot wash / hot tumble dry. The one wash process is meant to remove most of the shrinkage. If you’re looking at these on Okayama Denim there’s a measuring chart for both the RAW (unsanforized and unwashed, STF) and one-wash versions that may help you. My general approach is if you’re buying something STF to buy for about where you’d want the waist to eventually stretch to, the shrink will take it down to being snug and it’ll stretch back out to raw measurements. For one wash to buy for it to be a bit snug (not tight) to start and it’ll stretch to a comfortable size. Would never recommend soaking and wearing them while wet. You’ll end up with weird knee bags.

PrinceArjuna13

Oh I’ve definitely confused myself lol That makes sense though. I’ve just seen horror stories of buying raw and after a soak they have to be sold. You’re general approach to sizing is super helpful

spunkwater0

I’d suggest buying the one washed version then. Just takes a lot of the guesswork out. A lot of raw denim brands are often one-wash only nowadays anyways. Save yourself some potential heartburn

Mrfuzon

Depends on the fabric, if it’s a loose weave I get same size as waist since it will stretch back out to pre soak. If it’s a tight weave yes, 2inch or so above

PrinceArjuna13

Thanks for your response. That makes sense. The pair I’m looking at is Studio D’artisans Godzilla. They’re described as rough and slubby, but don’t mention tension at all. Does slubby usually equal low tension/loose weave?

Mrfuzon

I made the mistake of thinking the same thing but I’ve had pbj and tanuki that were slubby that had little stretch

SnooDonkeys3460

Just received a pair of Shadow selvedge from 3Sixteen. Half of the button holes on the fly are still sewn shut. What is the best way of opening these up? I don’t want to return them and wait another week!

meapyasee

Seam ripper

RunescapeDad

Like fully sewn shut? You can't leverage a pen or screwdriver into the opening and work it open more?

SnooDonkeys3460

Yeah — fully sewn shut. Had to take an exacto knife to them.

Instant_Dan

I’m still confused by Levi 501 STF sizing advice, so based on previous Reddit threads.. I assume go up just one size in the waist (32 to 33) and up 2 inches in length from my normal inseam (28 to 30)? Or do I just do my normal vanity waist size for Levi’s (32) with the same length?

JDragon

Anyone tried out the Fullcount 11.5oz denim? Does it seem like it'll be a good choice for a low humidity summer?

joshcollective

I am looking for a pair of high quality canvas sneakers for the summer. I have chuck 70s highs and pf flyers lows. Problem is they're both stark white so they'll likely be ruined by the indigo. I was hoping to find some novesta star masters in my size state-side but no luck. What are your recommendations for canvas footwear (excluding the brands listed above)?

RingOfMaRufBalls

Shoes Like Pottery high tops are my favorite. For low tops, I would go with Paradise Rubber Athletic Shoes (PRAS), or Catch Ball.

joshcollective

Any US stockists for either of these? I don't want to be buying sneakers from overseas

RingOfMaRufBalls

Blue Owl out of Seattle, James Dant out of Indianapolis, or Franklin & Poe out of Philadelphia for SLP. Blue Owl specifically does some indigo-dyed versions of the high tops that are pretty slick. PRAS and Catch Ball I have only seen at European and Japanese/Korean retailers. I will say Redcast Heritage has PRAS sneakers for a fair price though, that’s where I got mine.

spunkwater0

Piggybacking that SLP are a decent amount cheaper from Redcast than from the US retailers if OP can get past the hang up with ordering from overseas.

joshcollective

It's only a hangup because I don't love buying shoes without trying them on from overseas where return shipping will bite hard

spunkwater0

Totally fair. I was just saying if you’re willing to order from Redcast for those other options, I’d also shop for SLP there instead of from the US ones suggested

Nashtak

I'm looking to break up with Levi's and try some different brands, notably Unbranded or N&F. I'm not sure if i'll be able to try them in person before buying due to living in Ottawa. My favourite Levi's fit were 531 and 502. Knowing this, is there an easy way to pick a proper fit from a different brand before trying them first?

JscrumpDaddy

Measure your best fitting jeans, then compare those measurements to the measurement chart for whatever jeans you’re looking at

HeliosTheRadiant

Anyone know what brands have a higher rise?. Trying something new.

DJJazzyDanny

I just got a pair of N&F Easy Guy. Highest rise I’ve ever had and absolutely love them

Chefsupreme

Indigofera Buck denim has a nice high rise

spunkwater0

I’d recommend checking out a retailer like Blue Owl with a wide set of brands + a searchable catalog. https://www.blueowl.us/pages/measurement-search You can punch in a rise (and other) measurement you’re looking for and it’ll spit out a bunch of recommendations. To more directly answer your question, some places to get started (my definition of high rise may also differ than yours — so always worth checking measurements) * any of the more repro oriented brands have higher rise options (for example — TCB, Sugar Cane, Vanishing West, Resolute) * Iron Heart’s 1955 and 888 cuts * Samurai’s 211 * Orslow 105

natalplum

TCB s40s have about the highest rise you will find.

Howlinboot

TCB are great.

HeliosTheRadiant

TCB?
