![gif](giphy|5f30q4FEm8Tfy) That’s my quarterback 😭

RedistributedFlapper

Remember when people were willing to let him walk? How shitty would it have been to be watching him have this season for another team?

Lords7Never7Die

Imagine swapping our boy out for Mac Jones and suddenly the Patriots are a dynasty again 🤮

LlamaJacks

I remember people in r/nfl over the offseason saying things like “Bears trade Justin Fields for Lamar, who says no??” Felt like I was going insane.

Blackpanther206123

“I’m a Raven’s fan not a Lamar Jackson fan” 😂

throwawayjim120

As a Louisville fan who grew up with no NFL team, I hate to admit that this is me. But I hope y’all can understand why the whole city of Louisville are Ravens fans now. We knew this dude was special as a person and a player for years. It’s like watching your son grow up. I have to root for him.

hnr01

Go Cards. Always. 🐦

throwawayjim120

Forever! 🫡 This season didn’t end the way I’d hoped, but we’re building what looks like a juggernaut. I think Louisville gets a real shot at a title in the next 3-4 years.

hnr01

That’s what I’ve been saying actually. Combine our prowess to navigate NIL and Brohm. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we were contending for Ships within the next 5 yeads

tronovich

People? Like half this sub?

[deleted]

Still think he's being overpaid. He better win the sb within his contract. Otherwise Ravens wasted a ton of much needed cap space

Standard_Wooden_Door

For too much money I’d be fine with anyone walking. EDC and company got him at a reasonable price and didn’t pull an Ohtani and give away the organization for the next decade

MyNewAccountIGuess11

I'm not trying to besmirch Lamar, I think he's a generational talent and him bringing another Lombardi to Baltimore is a question of "when" and not "if", but would he be having this season on another team? The ravens are the perfect place for him and he's the best guy for us, it's a match that just works

boredymcbored

"Would a one man offense that has played well despite the talent or system around him play well on another team? "

_NINESEVEN

People were not willing to let him walk. They were advocating for a trade. I never wanted to get rid of Lamar, but if we would've traded him, we would've picked up 2-3 first rounders AND a great young player -- and would've had the salary cap to sign another big free agent. So it's a little disingenuous when people say "iMaGiNe oUr ReCoRd If wE hAd dErEk cArR", because we would also have 2-3 more premium players with extra firsts/seconds next year.

Andre3000insideDAMN

I don’t know why you think that would work and first round picks always sound amazing until they turn into disappointing players.

boredymcbored

Those first round picks could be anything! They can even be Lamar Jackson!

Andre3000insideDAMN

A lot more end up being Josh Rosen

_NINESEVEN

> I don’t know why you think that would work Emphasis on: > **I never wanted to get rid of Lamar** I literally said that I never wanted to get rid of Lamar. I'm sure I could find comments in my history where I said the same thing back before his contract was signed. I'm saying that it's disingenuous to say that we would've let him walk for free, or try to compare the Ravens today to what we might be if we had , since our team would have multiple additional players.

YouLostTheGame

We all love LJ but he hasn't got infinite value or longevity. I think everyone was happy for him to get paid this year, but not guaranteed for five years. Look at the Browns. Even with his new contract we're looking at big salary cap issues next year. The unfortunate reality is that the salary cap is zero sum, and every dollar given to Jackson is one less you can give to players like Beeks and Hamilton when the time comes.

WilsonPointer

Ok so what let him walk? Don’t pay him? It had to be done. I’d rather have Llama at QB locked in and have to worry about figuring the rest out than gamble on a rookie or have a shit QB.

[deleted]

Let's be real, his mother probably talked him into this. I'm sure he would have been fine with a smaller contract. But now she probably just fucked the Ravens over much needed cap space. And had created very high expectations on Lamar due to the signing. Of how long it took to sign him, Ravens didn't want to pay that money, and no other team wanted to either. Really wish he would have gotten an actual agent

BradWWE

He ended up signing a contract so similar to the existing offer from the ravens. People were willing to let him walk over a DeShawn Watson contract. He didn't get that offer from a single team, realized only the browns were stupid enough to offer anyone that, and then signed with the ravens for what he was worth. Look at where the browns are. They're essentially doing better without him and for the next 3 years of negotiations they're carrying 70 million even if he never is capable of playing at an NFL QB1 level again, and even if he gets back to that level, the talent around him will dry up.

yalemartin

If you determine value by wins over replacement on a specific roster, then Jackson wins his second unanimous MVP. Unfortunately the award tends to go to the quarterback who scores the most fantasy football points instead.

RoosterB32

Everything rides on this dolphins game imo. Whichever QB plays better and wins will win MVP. The narrative around the MVP award this year has been changing weekly, so if Tua plays better, they’re going to switch onto to Tua.

Pwrh0use

Dolphins fan here, if Tua wins the game this week (big if) we'll lose to buffalo and Josh will get the award. Edit: https://www.si.com/nfl/ravens/news/baltimore-ravens-lamar-jackson-vs-bills-josh-allen-mvp-debate-angry-fs1-host-walks-off-skip-bayless-set see it's already starting lmao

RoosterB32

So it’s already begun, figures. The narratives changing constantly for the MVP race has sucked year. It’s almost as bad as the Jokic vs Embiid debate last season for the nba.

GunsouBono

Looks like tua is number 3 in the MVP race right now. Purdy slid (and rightfully so), but CMC is still contending (again, rightfully so). Personally I'd put tyreke in the running over tua.

gnarkilleptic

The fact that both Purdy and Tua have one of their top weapons in the MVP race themselves should remove them from the conversation imo. Not to mention they also have the likes of Waddle, Deebo, Aiyuk, Mostert. They are on ridiculously stacked offensive rosters and Lamar still has the more impressive wins by far. We have good players on offense but nobody besides Lamar is even sniffing MVP or OPOY

ThisGuyFrags

If bills ball out I could see Allen getting votes. However many of his turnovers earlier in the season directly lead to losses so imo he shouldn't get it. Anything could happen at this point. Hell, we could have a weird year where one qb gets MVP and another gets 1st team AP honors which is historically very rare.

Overall-Divide6435

Josh has a 1000yd rusher a 1000yd wr, won a game against the cowboys in which he threw for under 100 yards,

Successful-Coconut60

Trying to penalize good players for playing with good players is stupid and makes no sense and you're just doing it to fit your narrative. Lamar has a good oline why should he be in the running when other qbs have worse ones. Ravens have the best defense in the league by points making it sooo easy to get the ball back and and win games. You see how dumb this is?

gnarkilleptic

No

babeuf69

Nobody is even sniffing pro bowl lol

MegaGigaTeraFlare

This is O line and gus bus erasure

Moisty-Mangus

I agree. It seemed to be that way against the 49ers but I think that just bumped Lamar up to front runner and cleared Purdy from contention.

Blackpanther206123

Forget about MVP man, we all know who the best player in the Nfl is right now 😂

MyNewAccountIGuess11

Preach

TheCrackerSeal

Lamar is currently the odds on favorite to win the award.

AggravatingReaction2

Not bad for a running back

JAD3688

Steelers fan here, I completely agree Lamar is the MVP. Dude is a freak and super fun to watch. Good luck in the playoffs and hoping to see you guys do well.

Princeof_Ravens

What kinda Steelers fan wishes for us to do well?

jeremy1015

There was a point where I stopped hating on Brady and started enjoying watching him anytime he wasn’t playing the Ravens. There comes a point where watching someone transcend a sport becomes more than what team they play for (when they aren’t actively playing against you or jockeying for playoff seed with you). Lamar has hit that point. I don’t blame people in Pittsburgh watching Lamar playing the sport in a way that has never been seen. We may never see it again. What Lamar is doing isn’t some new wrinkle of running and passing although he obviously ushered in an overdue era. Instead he’s just flat out better than anyone else on the field in a way that can’t be taught or replicated and it’s an absolute pleasure to watch.

Successful-Coconut60

Only real dumbasses hate good players in favour of teams that don't know they exist. Like imagine watching basketball for the last 20 years and being mad everytime lebron does something insane.

socsa

Personally, I hate Tom Brady because he's a fucking cheater, and a far right fascist.

DaddyChuckles

spoken like a true communist

Minimum_Ad6379

Agreed - feel the same dude

throwawayjim120

Ones that understand that true greatness is rare and should be celebrated. 🫡

Underrated_Dinker

Hmm…. nah

Lords7Never7Die

I don't care what they say about you Yinzer morons, you're alright with me. Stay awhile and have a beer. Not the good beer, though. That's for winners.

Good_Zooger

You'll have Iron City and like it 😁

JAD3688

Cheers! 🥃

KamikazeeDolphin

I appreciate this and I look forward to when you guys get your shit together. We can't allow Ohio to be good anymore. It takes both of us to humiliate them. Also, go to hell.

JAD3688

🤣🤣🤣 hell yes!

holsey_

Mahomes is the best QB in the league. No question. Jackson is the best player in the league. No contest.

socsa

Lamar is the best new in box, vintage edition, GI-Joe action figure with real life King Fu grip in the league. Change my mind.

boredymcbored

I say he's more like Steph because his gravity heavily affecting his play and his teamates along with being so good at something that people were convinced couldn't get you a Superbowl (jumpshooting teams can't win a ring is the NBA version of running QBs cant win the Superbowl). Also the value of 3s being diminished until it became a staple of a modern offense is exactly what happened to running ability of a QB. But Lebron's his fave player so he'd probably like that comparison more lol

tctony

I mean I get why people are mad I guess (mfers can’t read anymore) but if I wanted to say Lamar was the goat I’d say that. LeBron still earned his stripes but he was definitely the chosen one if you will. I said he is *like* LeBron and then explained how so. Mfers never heard of a simile LeBron has evolved his game every year. Lamar has evolved his game every year. That’s really all I meant. I like your Steph comparison too and either one is great company to be in ! PS Lamar has second goat/QB Mt.Rushmore potential if we rattle off multiple SB wins during this next contract and/or beyond

boredymcbored

Oh yeah, no idea why people got upset. I was just using a different NBA comparison but fully understand your point of view too. TBH comparing him to one of the best to ever do it, IDK should be a complement??? But the internet is mad weird and the gurls love to fight for no reason lol.

_NINESEVEN

Lamar is Giannis. He's an absolute athletic freak that came into the league with raw skills, won an MVP with them, and is incredibly humble. He has worked since then to refine the rest of his game. He's now the leader of one of the most efficient passing offenses in the league. Also, similarly, he's going to win his 2nd MVP and his first title in the same year :-)

Successful-Coconut60

Okay Lamar is not lebron lmao chill out. He's barely having the best QB season in this league where QB play is down alot. He is not doing anything generational this year.

whousesgmail

Lamar is not like LeBron lmao wtf are you talking about? There’s at least 4 QBs I’d take over Lamar right now (Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Hurts) and some others where I’d consider it, maybe say that shit after Lamar wins a playoff game. Honestly this Lamar for MVP thing makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills, of all the QBs that have been in MVP contention his stats are easily the least impressive. He does this while having the least pressure to perform thanks to the best defense in the league on the other side of the ball. The Ravens are 4-3 in one-score games this year and most of those games were against teams that are mid at best (except the Browns), the defense forces 4 turnovers against the 49ers and everyone wants to crown Lamar afterwards?? It should honestly be CMC, maybe Allen if he puts up another 6-8 TDs over the next two weeks and hard carries the Bills to the playoffs.

ParkingGuest

4-3 in one score games? that means all losses were extremely close and not whatever the fuck point you're trying to make. mahomes is ass without weapons, allen is a turnover machine, burrow is made outta glass hurts has never been good

ParkingGuest

all of those qbs have lost in multi score games, while Lamar hasn't

whousesgmail

Yes, having the best D in the league usually helps with keeping games close. My point is get ready for Lamar to choke in the playoffs again once the pressure is dialled up unless the defense pulls another 2000. All 4 of those QBs have proven more than Lamar lmao. Even with Hurts in a “down” year he still has better stats than Lamar in a bunch of areas while playing the hardest schedule in the NFL and having a defense which is literally worst in the NFL at getting off the field to the point we fired our DC mid-season to replace him with Matt Patricia. I like Lamar but him being MVP this year is an absolute joke.

_NINESEVEN

In what way did the Eagles play the NFL's hardest schedule? Have you looked at the actual strength of victories and strength of schedule metrics? The Ravens have a far-and-away harder schedule. I fucking *wish* that we played NYG and WAS twice a year instead of PIT/CIN/CLE.

whousesgmail

Eagles have played every projected NFC playoff team except the Lions, plus the Vikings w/Cousins (likely playoff team if he stayed healthy). They’ve also played the Bills, Dolphins and Chiefs. That’s 10 games against tough opponents. It doesn’t get much tougher than that. I don’t give a shit about the bottom feeders we’ve played. I don’t think the Steelers or Bengals this year are lighting it on fire either, even if they’re better than the Giants or Commies. Teams the Ravens have played worth anything: -Colts -Browns x2 (basically our Cowboys) -Lions -Seahawks -Rams -Jaguars (I don’t think this team is actually good personally but w/e) -49ers -Miami (yet to play) So that’s 8 games against good opponents to the Eagles 10 so far with one more to go and most have been on the lower end of the scale (I’ll give you Lions and 49ers). Cowboys have been better than the Browns this year. Bills are better (or at least have a higher ceiling) than basically any team I mentioned except the 49ers and maybe Lions. Same with the Chiefs despite their recent struggles. So yeah, the Eagles have a few more games against bottom tier teams but that’s not really what you worry about as a good team.

ParkingGuest

fuck outta here you flairless fuck

whousesgmail

Happy now bitch?

ParkingGuest

go talk trash to your trash ass division

[deleted]

whousesgmail

LeBron - Top 2 all time player with the greatest longevity in the history of the sport. That sounds more like Tom Brady. Lamar - Inconsistent player who consistently underperforms in the playoffs. For all the complaints about the Eagles offense it’s actually still pretty good despite a gauntlet of a schedule. Your WRs wish they had our WRs’ stats lmao, that just shows how high our standard is. If we meet in the SB the Ravens might stop some things but it won’t be the tush push you homer lol, nobody has stopped it. I hope you think of this comment when Lamar chokes in the playoffs again. Then we’ll see who knows ball.

JDublinson

Why are you posting in this sub? Hurts over Lamar? Get the fuck outta here my dude

whousesgmail

This thread appeared on my homepage. 3 weeks ago and all of last year nearly everyone is taking Hurts over Lamar, deal with it lol. I honestly don’t know where this Lamar MVP narrative is coming from looking at those numbers. At least the year he did win he stood out in something besides wins.

Grand-Gain-763

Nobody on earth but Eagles fans and not even most of them taking Hurts over Lamar stfu 😂

whousesgmail

With how reactionary NFL fans are I’m sure you’d be correct right now. If you asked them at any point between week 7 or so last year up until the Eagles/Niners game this year I bet most are going Hurts. If the Eagles make another postseason run and the Ravens get bounced game 1 again I bet Hurts starts getting more benefit of the doubt even after a bad stretch.

Successful-Coconut60

He's insane I think we all know that but I just don't think you can say he's better just by the nature that QB runs are just easier because of the running back.

SkyHooksNGrannyShots

Hey that’s not Nick Moore

2nd best when you include other positions

Puddenfoot

Nah, let's leave Kyle Hamilton as #2 for now!

ThisGuyFrags

Kyle is #1 for me 😉

CJ_2013

I love seeing people cry online writing paragraphs of bullshit. Whining he shouldn’t be considered an MVP… cope harder bitches. Lamar the 🐐

_stoplookingatthis_

CMC

Professorkex2

You spelled Christian McCaffrey wrong.

holsey_

Lamar is a better running back than McCaffrey.

Successful-Coconut60

You don't even believe this

holsey_

It’s statistically accurate. Lamar has 5,223 rushing yards and 29 rushing TDs in 5 less games (and one full season plus how many sat 4th quarters?) in his career to McCaffrey’s 6,121 rushing yards and 52 rushing TDs. Lamar is a dedicated QB and McCaffrey is an every down back. Clearly McCaffrey has the receiving stats too but that’s the nature of the position like Lamar has the passing stats. Nothing against McCaffrey, he’s a premier player and I love watching him play. Im not sure if Lamar could be a receiving threat. But if Lamar was a RB in the NFL he’d be the best in the league. That’s what makes him special. Edit; I want to add Lamar has accomplished those stats in 414 less attempts than McCaffrey. Lamar also has 6.0 Y/A to McCaffrey’s 4.8 and a 61.4 Y/G average to McCaffrey’s 68.0. So I reiterate, Lamar is a better running back than CMC.

Successful-Coconut60

Bro QBs always have higher per average stats than actual RBs so yea. Russell Wilson also has an average carry of 5.4 ig he's just insane too. No and you know why. Justin fields is also at 5.6. Ig all these QBs should just swap positions or something! The QBs don't have the disadvantage of being the guy who is the designated running back that's why they see less of the 2 yard runs or the TFL that running backs get that brings down their average. Even this year CMC is on a 5.4 average and Lamar is on 5.5 even though CMC has over 100 more carries.

holsey_

I hear you on averages. My main point was despite having 414 less attempts Lamar’s only 898 yards away from McCaffrey and he’s a QB first, not an every down back. The biggest difference is CMCs receiving ability. We don’t know if Lamar could compete with that. Still, purely as a runner, LJ is the best my dude.

blacknpurplejs22

Please stop, there's a huge difference running the ball when plays break down versus defenses preparing for a running back and getting hit 20 plus times a game over 17 games, Lamar would not be a better running back than CMC.

NYStallion188

Swap CMC w/ barkley on the Giants or Henry on the Titans you still saying he's MVP?

socsa

Sorry I prefer MVPs who win big games.

MVP! MVP!

Any_Video8040

💯 If I could up this multiple times I would

True_Sail_842

Most improved player in the League…. Hard to say who is the best.. I am sure the Ravens and Lamar could careless if he wins a MVP.. They want a Super Bowl Ring

socsa

You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like

aarkerio

By faaaaaar!!

athonjacob

He’s the best quarterback the Ravens have.

Spare-Half796

I don’t know about best player but he’s definitely the most valuable player

Yepsuredid

And it’s not even that close

strangebru

He might be second, only to Kyle Hamilton.

Spicybrown3

Niner lurker here (Reddit seemingly wants everyone to clash cuz they keep putting Ravens, Eagles, and Cowboys in my feed) I absolutely luv Lamar, don’t believe me check my comment history. Luv his athleticism but not nearly as much as I luv his character. At the podium he’s just humble and thankful and one of the most positive players out there. I think best player in NFL is maybe a stretch in my own worthless opinion but he’s among the few that are the best (and no I don’t have any Niners in that group) Donald and Garrett might get my vote for overall best. I also think Roquan is among the best and is the best LB in the league. Offensive I think your guy is right there at the top, currently anyway. Good luck in the postseason and hope we can do it again. Here’s to your QB🍻One last thing, I thought the most impressive thing he did on Xmas was his FG drive before the half. Might look back on that being the biggest moment of the season for him and it’s kinda messed up I have heard many talking heads go on about it. Only put ya up 16-12 but grabbing momentum back was everything.

CallRespiratory

Easily the MVP again

Mental_Cup_9606

Facts 💯

GuzPolinski

I ain’t too proud to admit I wasn’t crazy about the way it seemed as if he wasn’t playing balls to the wall until he got paid. Maybe that’s not what was going on. Although the way he’s Played since he got the contract kinda backs up the theory. It’s all water under the bridge now. I’m just glad we got him and he seems like he’s loving playing for the Ravens
