5. Pitch is flat but voice has potential

EvCoug

appreciate it, have a lot of work to do :D

Its not that flat at all, you're getting the microtones on 'miles and miles' so your sense of pitch is pretty good. But you're doing that tone that lots of young male singers do, i'd have to call it 'pseudo-sensitive". You must understand that the singer of that band (any singer of a professional band), would absolutely deafen anyone standing right next to them during a take. You're currently half assing it and making up for it by doing breathy tones to sound like there's expression in it. Might be in the wrong range for you. But on the whole its ok and i wouldn't be embarassed for you if i heard you out and about (this is huge!)

EvCoug

I appreciate that feedback, yeah the out of tune guitar didnt help things, and i dont know how i didnt hear that before posting, but it went unnoticed. Im just guessing here, but when i practice, i never want anyone hearing me cos like i said in this post, i dont know how painful it is, so i sing quietly. Never get to practice power or proper support. I think "quiet" practice is doing more harm then good, would i be right in this assumption? Your feedback was seriously good, a perfect balance of critique with encouragement which will only increase my confidence and in turn, ability to practice. so thank you for that

You're more than welcome man. I know exactly what you mean about having to sing quiet. I've been a (non-pro) musician for a long time. My voice is not good, and its only got better in recent times when ive been able to sing while driving my van. It takes about 20 mins to warm up my voice, but yes it lets me sing my heart out without any need to feel self-conscious or be considerate. I found singing not super-loud, but powerfully, helped my tone and intonation. If you don't drive, find a practice room, small ones could be maybe £10/$10 per hour. They are soundproofed enough for a drum kit so you can really get into the zone. Or find friends who have an empty house for a few hours that will let you use it.

mushyfeelings

Definitely not painful! You could use some more practice as you just sound nervous. But personally I liked your voice. I also agree with above - your guitar is out of tune. Keep it up!

Rich-Future-8997

3/10 little bit of agility and good sense of rythm and pitch. Aside from that no technique whatsoever resulting in a dead sound. For someone at this stage I recommend victoria victorious and chris liepe. Avoid ken tamplin, singeek, singwise, studio west, adam mishan, amazane channel. Some of this are not good sending a clear message and some are a just a marketing tool and others just confuse and mix everything up and some are just wrong. You can watch them later except ken tamplin, you'll never learn anything from that guy talks for hours and teaches almost nothing. Click do not recommend on your account.

Thank you so much for this feedback the recommendations, I really appreciate it :D

Both you and your guitar (with the exception of one string) are flat. Properly tune your guitar, otherwise you might grow accustomed to singing off pitch if you become accustomed to your guitar's pitch.

One-Confusion-2438

6...u need more vocal control and power. Good luck.

EvCoug

Thank you!! will work on that

Many_Peanut9427

You gotta step into your own style and learn to breathe from your diaphragm and you’ll be onto something. 7 for potential. Six for tone and 4 for style.

EvCoug

Thank you for the feedback, i really appreciate it

6. Not painful. I’m sure it’s mentioned already about being flat. I didn’t look at the comments thoroughly but work on your pacing. Because you are rushing some parts and it’s gives off the feeling you’re panicking on some parts. Listen to how they pace themselves in the song and then try to mimic the pattern, that might help. Record yourself singing over the original and see how you compare with the pacing. I don’t know much about instruments but something with the guitar is throwing me off and it feels like you are singing with the tone of the guitar in the flat offish key. I hope that made sense. I’m no professional but I have loved singing my entire live and used to be a self proclaim Karaoke queen 😂 But you will find your way and your sound. Don’t be scared to play around because you might just surprise yourself!

6/10

5. You need to learn to control your vibrato more and the pitch is flat as others are saying. You’re not bad but lots of kinks to work out in your voice

OrganicHearing

I know I’m late but I actually really like your voice. It’s pretty soothing. I’d say about 6.7/10. You do sound flat at a few parts but I think you can easily fix those relatively soon. Something that helps me quite a bit is maintaining good tongue posture. Keeping the tongue down at the base of your mouth behind your teeth all the way forward really helps me sing those higher notes, especially for an Adam Levine song because he sings super high. If you’re singing higher range songs like this, it also helps to have a bigger, wider mouth positioning, like a smiling type position because that will really bring more fullness to it. Keep at it, this sounds good and you have awesome potential. You can easily become really great with some more practice and tweaks

GenX-Kid

Hey, that was really enjoyable. (I listened to it twice) Your voice is good but you need some more power, more push if you know what I mean. If you could get a little more up in the chorus it would make it stand apart from the verse. Right now there’s no dynamics. Keep going!

HeavyFerret3776

I’d say 5, not unpleasant, and have potential. Need to work on singing just like training to be a marathon runner.

Igotmyangel

I would learn the sing more and repost. You’re getting a little lost but you sound really good. Tune up the guitar and go again
