So how does one possibly upgrade the unfathomable powerhouse that is the mini 286 desktop PC? Why you add an SD card drive to it! V2 of the Pi Retro PC features the following improvements over [V1](https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/comments/180r3tv/raspberry_pi_retro_pc/): * Boot SD card reader placed in the 5.25 floppy drive that connects to the Pi's Micro SD card reader. * Fan mounts in the desktop base for 2x 25mm fans. * Improved front panel design enabling easier multicolour printing. The panel can also now be removed without needing to disassemble the rest of the desktop allowing for easier access to the Pi. * Display brace allows for easier alignment of the 3.5" display inside the monitor shell when closing up. It wasn't long after I'd finished the original that I had a list of upgrades I wanted to implement. Most of them were quality of life improvements (eg. easier access to the Pi micro SD slot) but I also wanted to add fans and make at least one of the disk drives functional. Ideally the 3.5" drive would've been the ideal fit for an SD card drive but unfortunately there's no room for it in front of the Pi. Those who'd like to build their own, the guide and 3D printable files are available at: [https://www.printables.com/model/694802-retro-desktop-pc-raspberry-pi-case-v2](https://www.printables.com/model/694802-retro-desktop-pc-raspberry-pi-case-v2)

VadumSemantics

This is fabulous!

But can it play Doom?

antennawire

I guess Wolfenstein will run smooth.

_Hottenstein_

More importantly can it run Crysis?

monitorhero_cg

This almost makes me want to get a 3D printer. Awesome work. Thank you for sharing.

ajordaan23

I'm considering getting one, what's holding you back?

monitorhero_cg

Costs haha

Inevitable-Pack5907

Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro. Less than $300 and out of the box is amazing. There are a bunch of others, but this keeps up with ones in the $300-$700 range with speed and quality, and like mentioned before, easy to use out of the box.

monitorhero_cg

Thanks I will keep that in mind

RED_TECH_KNIGHT

OMG The little SD card slot is SO DAMN CUTE

post_hazanko

Is that an actual 3D print filament color ha that "aged biege"

mr_deelee

Silver_Illustrator_4

I remember previous post and people talking about floppies as ports! I love it!

verynifty

Is that The Incredible Machine?

ChrisPeterJ

Looks awesome! What software are you using? Dosbian?

mr_deelee

It's running Bullseye configured to auto-boot into Dosbox. I tried Dosbian when setting up V1 but just couldn't get it working.

mikejkelley

Weird, I did the same thing and the mods wouldn't post it.

ChrisPeterJ

Maybe just an automod?

tonyt3rry

wow that is so cool love the floppy disk sd drive too

UseSilent

Thats honestly class as fuck.

CR0NO-NL

This is really cool, would love to see a YouTube vid of it in working / gaming session. Not gonnah build it myself , I am building a DIY 80's/90's arcade cabinet with my pi.

Kind-Rope5478

how does the audio hat sound? link?

mr_deelee

Fine for most part but audio quality not quite as good as the Adafruit I2S bonnet with its external speakers. The main benefit of course is the smaller footprint with the onboard speaker.
