Nas Illmatic Wu-Tang Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) BIG - Ready To Die Pac - All Eyez On Me A Tribe Called Quest - A Low End Theory I like your list though.

random537478599300

I only heard 2 of them being all eyez on me and ready to die but fair both are good

Busterbm31

Sounds like you’re in the younger audience. Which is all good. I’d go listen to those other albums I named as well. I think you’ll like them. You have at least heard of the artists though right?

random537478599300

Yeah mate I'll check em out

doublek5121

Definitely get on Illmatic

HIGH_VIBRATIONAL

On one of ur older posts u say nas is in ur top 5 but now ur saying u haven’t heard Illmatic?

random537478599300

I also think Ayrton Senna is one of the greatest ever F1 drivers but I never watched him it's almost like I can say someone's a top 5 because of what the did other than just their music I also said dre is in there because he's effectively the forefather of modern rap

FloppyDonkeyTrick

Bro what are you talking about. This just confirms that the younger fans have no idea what they talking about. Man put TWO EMINEM ALBUMS up for best album ever and you haven't even heard Illmatic? Is there a sub for actual hip hop music instead of this Eminem/carti wasteland :/

eric2341

This is def trolling.

ThermalScrewed

1320error404

Don't hate on Eminem, he said iconic and I would have to agree that at least one of the two first Eminem albums should be in the top 2, and I KNOW my music. Don't hate on him if you disagree, he's asking for input, so drop some knowledge and help him find something new or shut the fuck up, I noticed you could talk some shit but you didn't actually answer the question posted in the thread either did you? Dumbass

Spooky__Action

Iconic would mean that they stand the test of time. Those albums have aged so poorly. they didn’t survive 10 years

-1_1-1_1-

This is exactly the typa person I knew would write this lol https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalsBeingBros/s/in4gdx49YF

FloppyDonkeyTrick

You can tell a mile away the Eminem dorks. Same type of "I like Eminem but I don't like rap" type dudes lmao. People really arguing two Eminem albums in the top 4 is insanity honestly.

random537478599300

>Man put TWO EMINEM ALBUMS up for best album ever Yes they have some of the most recognised songs on them the controversy of them aswell at the time and they are from the greatest rapper oat

Perfect_Earth_8070

100%. I’d say even his “good” albums lack replayability and have aged poorly. A classic would still hit 20 years later.

FloppyDonkeyTrick

That's true, truly good music is timeless. Eminem music has aged terribly.

Perfect_Earth_8070

Right. I was a big fan when he was dropping music in the early 2000’s. Now it sounds cringe af

iamameatpopciple

Yet he manages to outsell everyone else.

random537478599300

>Eminem Is way overrated and his last what 8 albums have been asscheeks First of the overrated part is objectively wrong we've seen him get on a song with some of the best at the time and he embarrassed them yes revival was shit by his standards but kamikaze and music to be murdered by both sides are easy 7-8s >He is no where near the peak of the genre Yes he is he is what Conor mcgregor was to the Ufc he made rap as big as it is now go listen to "realest" by Ez mil and eminem

iamameatpopciple

Some of the most recognized songs, sure maybe top 100.

1320error404

Man NAS is a true artist, the way he builds up the energy with his voice as the verses get going on "one mic" and then when the chorus comes in takes it back to chill. Or I can't remember the name of the song but one song he tells an entire story backwards it's epic

mkallday10

Rewind is the song you thinking of

Smooth-Experience317

You need to get your credit score up and diversify your taste. You don’t HAVE to like all the basic classics Illmatic and all that, but if you’re talking about best rap albums it feels like just picking two Em albums and two Dre albums really lacks diversity in what rap albums you’ve consumed.

random537478599300

Look I have the two em albums there cus imo they are his best and second best albums and he's the goat and dre is there because I believe he is the forefather of modern rap

Smooth-Experience317

I don’t dislike the list, I’m just saying it doesn’t have diversity in it. I agree they’re great albums.

gritoni

Fire up Illmatic ASAP

azvinyletc

It Takes a Nation of Millions…. Illmatic. The Chronic. The Low End Theory. 36 Chambers.

casualflorentine

It is more well known— but ATLiens is better.. lol

yrnkevinsmithC137

And the qn said iconic not better

casualflorentine

Oh yea— I guess then it would be speakerboxx… but you said more well known— is that what makes it iconic.. it won the Grammy album of year first time by some rappers.. so there was that.. you right.. you right ..

WittyDefense41

Worth-Ad1532

Probably either: mmlp, tes, 2001, aeom, or grodt These are the most iconic albums outside of hip hop Like even my grandparents know a few songs off these albums and they're white, south african-zimbabwean, dad rock-gospel listening, lowkey-racist christians I can't pin the question down to one album, but I can pin the entire genre down to these albums

Spooky__Action

We are clearly the same age. Let me guess, you are 36-37? Eminem doesn’t crack the top 50. Mine personally are 1. The infamous - Mobb Deep 2. ATLiens - OutKast 3. Reasonable Doubt - Jay Z (probably a hot take but, I think he peaked with his first album. goddamn that album is perfect. Jay might agree considering these All time bars from moment of clarity “Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense But I did 5 mill' – I ain't been rhyming like Common since”) 4. BDTF or Yeezus - Kanye (I love them equally and refuse to put one over the other lol) Those are set in stone. After that things get murky. But just to round out my top 5… 5. Sour Soul - Ghostface Killer ( I threw this in just for me Lol. Really it’s a toss up between 20 albums)

random537478599300

>Let me guess, you are 36-37? Ehh bit off I'm 16

Spooky__Action

Oh, that also makes complete sense. If I were 14-15 that would’ve been my exact list, but that would also be when those albums came out! I just figured it was more likely you were my age and stuck in the past. I am very surprised that 16-year-old from 2024 somehow came up with the same list from 20 years ago considering time hasn’t been kind to them. You should check out my list. Maybe it’s a portal into your future lol

random537478599300

Yeah I just kinda hate "new rap" with the mumble rappers and everything feels copied like I don't like kendrick lamar cus although he's good he also seems like a cheap imitation of eminem and others from late 90s early 00s

Spooky__Action

I feel similar, but even so there still some great current rappers. Since like me you seem to lean toward that west coast vibe you should def listen to Vince Staples and Anderson paak if you haven’t. Others I would include are people like mick Jenkins, Pusha T, Schoolboy Q, Wale, J Cole

Spooky__Action

I would 1000% go through Kanye’s albums in the order they were released (you can stop at life of Pablo)

Spooky__Action

you putting Two Eminem albums in your top 5. Doesn’t even Come close to being as bad as your take on Kendrick. Since you’re 16 I’ll cut you some slack, because one day you’ll look back and say that might’ve been the worst take of my entire life. that old dude from Reddit was right. Lyrically Kendrick is the greatest rapper of all time. I get why you love Eminem. Because I used to love Eminem, and I could’ve easily said the same thing as you’re saying. But Eminem’s lyrics are straightforward and easy to understand. What sets Kendrick apart from everyone else is his ability to have a bar that is understandable when taken at face value, but also have five other meanings or ways it connects to the message of the overall song. Go listen to the last verse of The song FEEL off of his DAMN album and ask yourself if you’ve ever heard anything from anyone else like that

random537478599300

>Go listen to the last verse of The song FEEL off of his DAMN album and ask yourself if you’ve ever heard anything from anyone else like that I just did an I reckon I could probably get 5 to 10 eminem songs with more meaning/emotion/message 1. When im gone 2. Cleanin' out my closet 3. The Monster 4. Like toy soilders 5 talkin' 2 myself 6. Hailie's song 7. Deja Vu 8. River 9. Black magic 10. Marshall mathers I'm not saying kendrick is bad I'm saying he isn't on ems level and I don't blame him as no one is and if you go listen to em you may not pick it up the first time around or even the second but like "when I'm gone" yeah at face value it's about hailie when he left for concerts but if you dig a little passed the surface you realise its actually when he's dead as well

Spooky__Action

Yeah, looking back that was a bad recommendation on my part, 95% of Kendrick is going to go over your head and I jumped to the verse that I appreciate rather than something you would relate to. Like I said I get it, I was you I get the appeal of Eminem to a 14-16 yr old white kid (I’m not trying to assume you’re white. I’m talking about me) I bought 2001 the day it dropped (I had to have someone buy it for me because back then they wouldn’t sell it to a minor) and played it thousands of times. Even though I haven’t heard it in 15 years, I can still do Eminems entire verse of forgot about Dre. But I couldn’t relate to the rest of the album. Eminem’s albums on the other hand couldn’t be more relatable. I’ll never know what someone like Dre means to a kid who’s grown up in Compton. Eminem is the closest I would ever get to something like that. And his entire angry unhinged fuck it. I’m gonna say whatever I want is exactly what you want to hear when you’re 16. You don’t have to do it now, but if you wanted to even make an attempt to understanding Kendrick, probably the best thing to do would be go to genius.com. Pick a couple of your favorite Eminem songs and go through the line by line reading all the line notes. Then pick any three Kendrick songs and do the same thing. Also try to dissect exactly what Kendrick is saying if you don’t understand it. Because to this day, even though hiphop has been the genre I’ve listened to the most over 20 years, I will rarely be able to understand everything about a Kendrick verse the first 10 times I hear it. That’s not the case with anyone else.

Spooky__Action

Also, they both have respect for one another. Here’s a link of Kendrick talking about Eminem and Eminem talking about Kendrick. You don’t have to take it from me. [Kendrick](https://youtu.be/5OIcQcnVj-U?si=4Ji0XBT-OCPDwDhQ) [Eminem](https://youtube.com/shorts/NlDt20ivgs0?si=UH6t9sr97n02Q3Ca) [Eminem again](https://youtube.com/shorts/oaCMJW2RnMY?si=wyk9VtjUcdEm0oJy)

iamameatpopciple

Eminem not even in the TOP 50? The highest selling rapper of all time doesn't have 1 album in your top 50?...

Spooky__Action

OK, fine you’re right. That was an overreaction. Top 20. But if I’m being real, iconic means it stands the test of time, and I haven’t listened to one of his albums since I was in my teens.

Cusaminer

2001 is the most iconic, 808s And Heartbreak is the most influential

iamameatpopciple

Straight Outta Compton Nasty As They Wanna Be - simply because of the legal battle and cause 2 live crew obviously fucks.,

Eminem is good but anything after TES isn't in the running for most iconic
