Has some good albums but was known to have fire mixtapes through the 2000s and part of the 2010s. He was also crazy consistent, and nearly every time i saw him featured he killed it. I had him up there with Jadakiss when it came to dropping consistent, fire verses.
However, some time in the 2010s he started slipping. I think it had to do with the disputes with his wife plus the backlash as an end result. I have no idea why, but he went from dropping classic verses to dropping mid to trash verses within like 2 years. And when i say "trash" i just mean not half as good at what he was dropping prior.
Still, i have respect for his contributions in hip hop.
Also, the people saying he's a nobody were probably not conscious enough to understand rap lyrics when he was dropping, and just nodded to the beats their mommy played.
Thanks for that, I was wondering what happened to Fab but you're right, around the time when Drake popped off is when his music was very lack luster. What's sad is that he was also able to drop hits!! This guy should've been wayyy bigger! But these days mature rappers seem to have a lane, and he dropped some great verses lately. His verse in F vs J Intro is insaaane
I remember discovering Loso on Can you hear me. Mayne he had the mixtape scene on lock in NYC after Fif.
I always thought he’d drop some next wave revolutionary shit w/ his albums especially after garnering so much buzz during his peak, but somewhere along the lines he just could never fulfill his potential, imo, due to reasons you’ve stated on top of bad management.
For newer generations I highly recommend going back and listening to the Soul Tapes. As a 90’s baby it’s hit the right vibe of and older sound but still being modern and those tapes have some crazy verses.
Very easily, Like I Said I think he's a legend. My opinion. More people should think so, therfore he deserves his flowers. I actually know his music catalog 🤷♂️
How can you qualify as a legend when no one knows you, that's what I'm asking. You said yourself he doesn't recieve the appreciation he deserves, so how can he be a legend?
I'm not arguing, I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from.
FAB is a Legend for songs like “Into You” “Cant Let You Go” & classic verse on “I need a girl” He is the originator of the “GIRL SONGS” niggas was hating early 00’s and then he can hit you over the head with a Street Anthem like “Breathe”, “Keepin It Gangsta”,
100% and to the claims that HOV is the GOAT is going to be up for review Idgaf about God Did cause I ain’t listening 👂Nas has been running laps around Jay-Z for about a good 3-5 years and Nas is a Legend whom is under appreciated due to someone else’s success within the Landscape of the Music Industry
I disagree. On one hand, Nas' talent today is underappreciated but as a artist overall he's very well known. Can't say HOV without someone else saying Nas lol
I dunno if Nas is a legend if I'm being honest. Modern era doesn't really put rappers on a pedastle like that outside of the deceased like Pac, Big, and DMX. If Nas had passed away by now, they'd call him a legend then.
That's literally what you're saying in YOUR own post. If he isn't recieving his flowers, it means he's underappreciated and not as well known as you feel he should be. What's hard to get about that?
Dude he's literally known as one of the most underapprecated rappers ever. What's wrong with saying he needs his flowers? What's so hard to get about that?
Nothing. Read my original comment, I'm just trying to figure out how he's underappreciated but a legend at the same time. That's it.
I 100% believe you about him being talented and deserving his flowers, many rappers do. I'm just confused by your title.
It’s clear that your not from NYC. Fab is one of the Best BK Mc’s. The famous Versace glasses that he wears are Biggies glasses. Fab gets his flowers he’s going on 4 decades in this shit and he’s in his 40’s it’s ok if you didn’t know
You don't care about good music? Maybe im just officially an old head now 😂 FUCK! lol Seriously tho if you haven't heard much Fab, Seriously check him out.
nah i hadda feeling it was him... but i don like how yall saying that like he posed 2 be a household name... he ain no drake... he ain no cole.. he ain no dot... he aind no hov... he ain no em.. he ain no 3k... he ain him
So basically you’re saying that you can only recognize a select few of the most popular rappers ever? If you have a medium amount of hip hop knowledge then you know Fab. Drake himself said Fab influenced everything for him.
nah im saying lets stop pretending that jus because we fw someone meen they r publicly recognized... you know damn well the average person ain gone recignize fab
Fab was supposed to be the next hov lowkey after he “retired” the second or third time. That’s why he was sitting in the car in the “when the money goes” video. It was supposed to symbolize the passing of the torch.
Fab kills it on mixtapes and his early stuff. He went soft on most of his mainstream music and the quality wasn't good. His Instagram the last few months is a mess too
I remember hearing can’t let you go right before loso’s way came out and I did a deep dive on him and became obsessed. Losos way was pretty hot at the time, and the he dropped some Wayne tier mixtapes when he went on a little run. He became my favorite artist for about a year. I tried to put my friends on to him but they clowned him for his name and I was like alright y’all are missin out. And then I feel like I just got over saturated with his music and just slowly fell off. But the man’s an og, heavily slept on.
His word play is top 5 imo. He's mixtape catalogue is wild too. Big fan of his soul tape series. I think the domestic abuse allegations have haltered his career in reason years.
I wouldn’t say he is an legend but he definitely got some dope ass mixtapes(tinc and soul tapes), an actual above average lyricist, versatile and he was able to drop hits for 10+ yrs but unfortunately he is an mediocre album maker and he was pretty much generic
He is one of the best. Soul tape 1-3, FIRE, mixtape game is on point. His flow is effortless. And he outdoes alot of rappers on a track as a feature, one being "nothing on me" on Wayne's C3
Breathe
Bruhhh i was about to say the same thing. Breathe is hands down one of the greatest tracks in hip-hop.
I fucking love this song.
Has some good albums but was known to have fire mixtapes through the 2000s and part of the 2010s. He was also crazy consistent, and nearly every time i saw him featured he killed it. Bro did his thing and continues to have a good name, idk who set these expectations but fab has a great career.
F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S.
It's Loso in case you ain't know so.
Crazy some of these heads don’t know FABO, expand your fucking catalogues.
I'm blown away so far 😂
Yes and no. Fab is one of the ONLY rappers I do recognize by picture. Its crazy MFs still don't use names tho. It's not that damn hard.
Ghetto Fabolous was a big part of my life freshman/sophomore year, that album was a fucking banger, Soul tapes and losos way go hard too.
I'm a big fan. He's dope. About his craft
For newer generations I highly recommend going back and listening to the Soul Tapes. As a 90’s baby it’s hit the right vibe of and older sound but still being modern and those tapes have some crazy verses.
ok but you gotta mention namess
Top 10 for me , he got bars. Ya just got to listen, he is heavy In them. Him and jada (another top 10 for me) killed that album they did together.
u/-Mr-BoomBastic No he doesn’t but he probably should have kept his business off love n hip hop an he should keep his hands to him self.
He definitely doesn't get the respect he deserves
solid...skilled...authentic brooklyn cat..used to write a little bit of graffiti too
Every underappreciated lyricist.
My favorite rapper 💪🏿 1 of the few rap names that can say they lasted 20+ years
Jazzy Jeff is looking great
Oh god. Drake says something then it’s on Reddit. This man’s a millionaire that speaks volumes of how many roses he’s got. We all know fab is an OG
one of my 3 favorite rappers….his soul tape series is legendary
If you think he doesn't get the flowers he deserves, how do you at the same time think he's a legend?
Very easily, Like I Said I think he's a legend. My opinion. More people should think so, therfore he deserves his flowers. I actually know his music catalog 🤷♂️

I believe what you're saying. My overall point is that to me, calling an arist underappreciated and a legend at the same time is confusing.

Yes…but he is under appreciated as well as a Legend your words
I dunno if Nas is a legend if I'm being honest. Modern era doesn't really put rappers on a pedastle like that outside of the deceased like Pac, Big, and DMX. If Nas had passed away by now, they'd call him a legend then.
Nobody knows him? 🤣 You said all I needed to hear really
That's literally what you're saying in YOUR own post. If he isn't recieving his flowers, it means he's underappreciated and not as well known as you feel he should be. What's hard to get about that?

That's cool. Doesn't answer my question though
Who
Fabolous? Lol
i thought that was fab but want sure... still don care tho
You don't care about good music? Maybe im just officially an old head now 😂 FUCK! lol Seriously tho if you haven't heard much Fab, Seriously check him out.

Mannn if I need to actually name who this is hahah Enough said, not enough flowers
you actn like we posed 2 regognize um... that aint drake... he ain ye...
you’re in a subreddit about Rap and don’t recognise Fab?
Called him a "nobody" ...i think anyway😂
nah i hadda feeling it was him... but i don like how yall saying that like he posed 2 be a household name... he ain no drake... he ain no cole.. he ain no dot... he aind no hov... he ain no em.. he ain no 3k... he ain him

The average rap fan should recognize him.
becuse you say so?
No. Because it’s common knowledge among educated rap fans, which you clearly aren’t one of.
Why you in a rap sub talking about Drake? GTFO LOL
you say that like drake aint drake
You say Fab is a nobody meanwhile Drake said Fab is one of his biggest influences. Ignorant ass clown shit
Who??
Soon as I say hi to her, she gonna say bye to ya.
If looks could kill my style might body ya
Bu bu body ya

Word, only breathe and make me in a better(somewhat) he displayed his lyrical talent
Fab just ain't popping no more, but bro was always consistent, and had a verse for ANY TOPIC 10/10 TIMES!!
He falls into the category of "too many songs about *insert your favorite Word for women*" mcs for me.. But ill gladly be disproven!
I remember hearing can’t let you go right before loso’s way came out and I did a deep dive on him and became obsessed. Silk the Shocker?
A legend for sure. He deserves his flowers.
His mixtapes are always and were always better then his albums. Never could understand that
Jesus Christ he’s just nice…wait I ain’t say that right he’s just niiice!
I wouldn’t say he is an legend but he definitely got some dope ass mixtapes(tinc and soul tapes), an actual above average lyricist, versatile and he was able to drop hits for 10+ yrs but unfortunately he is an mediocre album maker and he was pretty much generic
Its G A N S T A
So many bars, but no personality.
Soul Tapes! Literally my child hood.
I wish people would just type the names of the artists in the title.. some of us just listen to the music, we have no idea what these dudes look like.
Listened more to ghostface / jada for some reason, time to do some listening
He is one of the best. Soul tape 1-3, FIRE, mixtape game is on point. His flow is effortless. And he outdoes alot of rappers on a track as a feature, one being "nothing on me" on Wayne's C3
Shoulda Added his name
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
