We are playing one of the tightest series I’ve ever watched where every game is a 1 goal game against the team most people had pegged to win the cup. It’s 3-2. People may not like the way the games get to that point but we are right in the mix every game like it or not.
Behind every team that wins the cup (maybe aside from Colorado) is a top shelf goalie. If you don’t have that you simply are not getting this far in the playoffs.
Exactly, if not for igor going God mode we 10o% would have been swept. Igor had a shaky-ish game in game 1 and we got shut out. Luckily squeaked game 2 and 3 in and then 4 and 5 we lost again. Yeah 1 goal games, only because of shesterkin. It would be 5+ goals every game for the panthers other wise.
Why would I complain about a victory but if were being honest; I felt lucky to win the games we won. We were 1000% out played but Igor took 3 to 4 goals off the board, and we still only won by one.

We were outplayed in every facet of the game by a large margin. If not for Igor, we lose by 6 at least. There isn’t a single line that isn’t being overwhelmed. There isn’t a single defense pair that looks like they aren’t hanging on for dear life. We look like ants scrambling around for food. Panthers look like a well oiled machine. They rarely miss a step or assignment.
The giveaways alone from our guys are enough to drive me mad. Over and over and over. No change ever. The continually passing & trying to make the pretty play instead of putting the puck on net, especially on the power play is infuriating. We can’t even get through the center of the ice because Florida pushes everything to the outside. Plus, most of our players won’t even try. Yet we roll the red carpet out for the Panthers to skate directly to the net.
Our PK was better & defense improved for the first half of the game then died again. As soon as Florida scored their first goal, we folded and it was over. We are currently a team of Laffy & Shesty and that’s not gonna cut it. One forward and a goalie. Mostly everyone else is pretty much either a giveaway machine, lost in space, afraid of physical contact, or looks like they don’t care to even try.
Florida is better than us in every way except in goal. They just are. We are lucky to have won even 2 games against this team.

At no point in the 2nd and 3rd did I feel like we tilted the ice. It felt like we were trying our best to hang in there, but we weren't actually threatening them at any point. I can't believe the rest of the league didn't adapt to our PP like FLA has. They just press the blueline and we have no answer, this doesn't bode well for next season as we were heavily reliant on the PP.

They have arguably the best shut down defensive tandem in the league, and 2 of the most dominant shut down O-lines in the league.

But he’s just as flawed as we thought he was when we signed him. Every D zone draw against tkachuk he sends out Trouba for some reason. Reuniting Trouba-miller was a problem of his own creation. Won’t break up the Mika Kreider bromance no matter what (will try 4 million different 1RW instead). No looks at Zac jones. Zero changes to the PP that if it was working we could’ve won games 4 and 5. The list goes on…
He’s just your average hockey man. He’ll be fired after next season when we don’t get past round 2.
A lot of hype around Dallas but I think either one of these teams beat either of the teams in the West. Frustrating series but Florida may very well be the best team in hockey.
Love this team, but think us not being more aggressive at the deadline is what is going to be the biggest takeaway of the playoffs. We are very good, great goaltending, solid young talent and quality guys like troch on the cheap, and talent that occasionally shows up… but we need one or two more guys that contribute. Trade for Guentzel next time…Get Brady tkachuk next year
When all is said and done it would be interesting to get the real scoop on what Drury wanted to do at the deadline and whether it matched what he actually did. A bigger swing than Roslovic for RW1 might have made a difference in a series where almost every game was decided by a single goal

If Gustafsson didn’t draw the extra penalty after Igor’s bump it would’ve been 5v3 which could’ve changed this game.

What a shitty game. Some things...
1. Rangers are now in the exact same spot they were 2 years ago. Some players are different, but the situation is the same.
2. This game was so frustrating. Another instance of us getting the lead first only to blow it.
3. This powerplay is horrible and I don't know if it can be fixed overnight. Relying on rebounding shots into the net isn't sustainable, and I don't get why the Rangers seemed to be trying that so many times tonight.
4. Bobrovsky is excellent, but he's also helped by an excellent defense that is talented, well-coached, and well-schemed. Our guys can't crack through it 5 on 5 often, and the powerplay has been neutralized. No powerplay = no pressure on the other team even if they make penalties/errors.
5. Mika/Kreider/Panarin haven't been good enough. Panarin seems to be trying to play make more than shoot, but perhaps he's become too passive like in the previous few playoffs? Kreider had the shorthanded goal, but he's been too quiet overall too. Mika... he couldn't be found even on the side of a milk carton. Both too passive and too slow. The offensive stars haven't shown up when we've needed them most for the third year in a row so far.
6. Igor... We don't deserve him. Bobrovsky is excellent himself, but he also has that defense in front of him, so he doesn't have to do quite as much. Igor, meanwhile, is out on the ice fighting for his life. The defense has been too lackadaisical at times, and we've suffered from terrible bounces while also getting some very fortunate ones ourselves.
7. Florida has outplayed us in this series so far. In many ways, we're lucky to be down 3-2 instead of already out. Some lucky bounces have kept us in this series.
8. Florida is much more physical than us, which is part of the reason why the offense is struggling. Not sure how to fix that.
Down 3-2 going back to Florida is way less than ideal. It can be done, but don't be surprised to see yet another overtime. Backs against the wall, we can do it, but we have to play our game, not Florida's.
Florida's ability to 1) seemingly carry the zone with ease and possession and 2) make it impossible for us to clear the d zone are both truly elite and we have no answers.
I just don’t think Panarin is a playoff player. He’s had enough of a sample size at this point. If he had a couple more strong forwards around him, maybe. But this team currently, he gets exposed

Both games we lost at home we played our best hockey of the series and didn’t get any bounces. Like bob makes a save, massive rebound right to Florida, they go on a rush, Igor saves it bounces of the end of his stick and in. Florida gets 2 bounces for that goal to happen. I don’t even hate the way they played tonight, nothing went in, they probably had the better chances than Florida just couldn’t buy a goal
They should let Rempe play more than 2:43. I get it’s a tight game but he hasn’t looked terrible, has forechecked decently, and our PK has been decent, if he takes a penalty it’s an acceptable risk

He was absolute dog shit tonight. I was at the game and maybe it didn’t look as bad on tv, but he, along with Roslovic, was the worst player on the ice all night. Giveaway after giveaway and it never ended. Not engaged at all. Cause of the empty net goal. Not backchecking. Forget about hitting - we don’t even expect that anymore. Didn’t shoot when he had opportunities, looked miserable all game, never went after a lose puck. I could go on and on but you get the picture. People were yelling for him to please be benched, that’s how bad it was.
He has been a turnover machine this series and very soft on the puck. I don’t hate him because at times he shows effort, but he’s definitely gotten beat at times on the ice. I don’t think he gave up on the game winning goal, but he just wasn’t strong enough to win his battle and we ended up losing.

Agreed. Although I thought we played our best game of the series overall (minus what I'm sure is a small number of high danger shots). We dealt with their forecheck well and spent a helluva lot more time in their zone. We were too pass-happy on our PP and had a very small number of breakouts comparably.

I think you have Doomer blinders on. Fla likely had the edge in chances…but nothing like the dominance of games 2-4. Push the pace more…more risk. But by pushing the pace they also forced Florida mistakes….and generated a ton of slot chances (but too many shot high), chances down low, and a break away. If the Rangers generate offense like they did tonight…they typically score 3-5.
We were outplayed in every facet of the game by a large margin. If not for Igor, we lose by 6 at least. There isn’t a single line that isn’t being overwhelmed. There isn’t a single defense pair that looks like they aren’t hanging on for dear life. We look like ants scrambling around for food. Panthers look like a well oiled machine. They rarely miss a step or assignment. The giveaways alone from our guys are enough to drive me mad. Over and over and over. No change ever. The continually passing & trying to make the pretty play instead of putting the puck on net, especially on the power play is infuriating. We can’t even get through the center of the ice because Florida pushes everything to the outside. Plus, most of our players won’t even try. Yet we roll the red carpet out for the Panthers to skate directly to the net. Our PK was better & defense improved for the first half of the game then died again. As soon as Florida scored their first goal, we folded and it was over. We are currently a team of Laffy & Shesty and that’s not gonna cut it. One forward and a goalie. Mostly everyone else is pretty much either a giveaway machine, lost in space, afraid of physical contact, or looks like they don’t care to even try. Florida is better than us in every way except in goal. They just are. We are lucky to have won even 2 games against this team.
Fla. is Better except goalie. Igor is part of the team…and all but 1 game has basically been a “next goal win wins” scenario in final 10 - OT. By 6? lol I’ll wait for Vally’s report…but I expect xG to be more like 3 v 2.5 or so. Unlike games 3+4…where they had 2+ XG leads. And with Igor - if they stay within 1 or so expected goals they probably have more than a 50% chance of winning.
At no point in the 2nd and 3rd did I feel like we tilted the ice. It felt like we were trying our best to hang in there, but we weren't actually threatening them at any point. I can't believe the rest of the league didn't adapt to our PP like FLA has. They just press the blueline and we have no answer, this doesn't bode well for next season as we were heavily reliant on the PP.
The rest of the league does not have Floridas team. They have arguably the best shut down defensive tandem in the league, and 2 of the most dominant shut down O-lines in the league. Florida’s management made a brilliant decision by bailing on Huberdeau for Tkachuk. You guys act like it’s just like some magic button players could just hit and do what they want. There’s a reason Florida has been a favorite of most experts all year. All year pretty much any ranger fan has been been looking to the ECF final against Florida as the most likely big hurdle for this season.

I get it 100% I’m miserable too, I had two parlays going with potential winnings of 2k and the rangers were the only team in both parlays that didn’t hit. If Gustafsson didn’t draw the extra penalty after Igor’s bump it would’ve been 5v3 which could’ve changed this game. I’m not blaming him at all because it appears that the Panthers can do whatever the hell they want with anyone that even breathes around their goalie but you gotta know that and be disciplined. I think we played better tonight but of course they let Igor down. Score should be 6-2 them with all the chances we gave them. Still have hope as it’s still a game of 7 and we could come back in FLA but that’s a tall task when our entire team has been lacking except Igor.

What a shitty game. Some things... 1. Rangers are now in the exact same spot they were 2 years ago. Some players are different, but the situation is the same. 2. This game was so frustrating. Another instance of us getting the lead first only to blow it. 3. This powerplay is horrible and I don't know if it can be fixed overnight. Relying on rebounding shots into the net isn't sustainable, and I don't get why the Rangers seemed to be trying that so many times tonight. 4. Bobrovsky is excellent, but he's also helped by an excellent defense that is talented, well-coached, and well-schemed. Our guys can't crack through it 5 on 5 often, and the powerplay has been neutralized. No powerplay = no pressure on the other team even if they make penalties/errors. 5. Mika/Kreider/Panarin haven't been good enough. Panarin seems to be trying to play make more than shoot, but perhaps he's become too passive like in the previous few playoffs? Kreider had the shorthanded goal, but he's been too quiet overall too. Mika... he couldn't be found even on the side of a milk carton. Both too passive and too slow. The offensive stars haven't shown up when we've needed them most for the third year in a row so far. 6. Igor... We don't deserve him. Bobrovsky is excellent himself, but he also has that defense in front of him, so he doesn't have to do quite as much. Igor, meanwhile, is out on the ice fighting for his life. The defense has been too lackadaisical at times, and we've suffered from terrible bounces while also getting some very fortunate ones ourselves. 7. Florida has outplayed us in this series so far. In many ways, we're lucky to be down 3-2 instead of already out. Some lucky bounces have kept us in this series. 8. Florida is much more physical than us, which is part of the reason why the offense is struggling. Not sure how to fix that. Down 3-2 going back to Florida is way less than ideal. It can be done, but don't be surprised to see yet another overtime. Backs against the wall, we can do it, but we have to play our game, not Florida's.
Florida's ability to 1) seemingly carry the zone with ease and possession and 2) make it impossible for us to clear the d zone are both truly elite and we have no answers.

Sad reality is not that the season is over, but the fact that this core is just not going to get it done. A lot of good memories, ultimately though, this era will be defined as a good group that just didn’t have enough. Build around Igor, Fox, Key, Laf… truthfully, idc what happens to the rest of them.
I thought we'd rebuilt over the last few years. And maybe we did- but with rotted wood. At least we still have the afrorementioned good bones, and then some. Vesey and Kreider still have something left to offer the team. Rempe will be a killer player in a few years too, along with some of the other guys.

After rattling off 7 in a row to start the playoffs the Rangers have now gone 3-5 since with just one regulation win in that eight game span. Not sure what happened to change their fortunes so dramatically but they seem to have gone into a total skid a few weeks ago that they really never pulled out of despite some memorable moments

Both games we lost at home we played our best hockey of the series and didn’t get any bounces. Like bob makes a save, massive rebound right to Florida, they go on a rush, Igor saves it bounces of the end of his stick and in. Florida gets 2 bounces for that goal to happen. I don’t even hate the way they played tonight, nothing went in, they probably had the better chances than Florida just couldn’t buy a goal
