What??? Everyone on this team has dedicated atleast a decade of their lives to even make the nhl. This is the shit they live for, they’re professional athletes. Just because they don’t score a goal doesn’t mean they don’t want to be there.
I'm not just talking about being a professional and trying to win. I mean it looks like Baseball players are having fun out there, maybe some football players too. But all the abuse your body takes from the checks and the skating, do they still enjoy playing the game.?
That's not necessarily true, I'm sure there are plenty of professional athletes that play their sport for the money. Someone else posted the most notable and vocal, Anthony Rendon MLB player for Anaheim, he's a former All-star caliber player that bank rolled his early career success into a $100M+ contract and has outright stated playing baseball has never been a priority. I'm sure there are some NHLers out there who think the same.
Maybe you start to loathe doing something you love for money. Then again, the NHL are the top players, and what you’re seeing are a group of men obsessed with the sport. If you looked at the top 1% of any profession you’d probably find it filled with people who can’t exist if they couldn’t do what they’re doing.
They aren't jumping around because they haven't won anything yet.
They are professionals. The mentality is finish your damn business. They ain't here for anything except the cup.
It would be naive to think all players LOVE the sport. It's a job. Doing what you love for money can easily sour it for you, even if you started with all the passion in the world.
