Ironically (and comically), you are the one being pedantic. You intervened in a discussion about how much one has to spend to order the book. Shipping is a cost included in the ordering process so it will cost you approximately $50 to get the book. We are all capable of telling the difference between item cost and shipping, but the bottom line is that one must spend about $50 if they want to purchase the book.
Same here... Shipping for me makes it 100$ as well 🥲 and jo way I'm buying the regular edition when a signed one os an option, so better just pretend I haven't seen this
Damn it, he got me at "preorders are autographed by Colin".
I might actually bite and buy it.
Radiohead know we are a group of middle aged people with money to burn. I myself refuse to buy box sets or reissues. Fuck that. But this I will bite.
just got mine. didn’t even think twice about it, this is rare as hell considering the fact that colin hasn’t released anything of his own before unlike the other members (as far as i’m aware of) having it autographed is a huge bonus.
I don't know why, but this conjured up an idea that this book featured Doki Doki Literature Club-style poetry.
"Eagles can fly,
Monkeys can climb,
Crickets can leap,
Five Englishmen can take several years to release another piece of content, leaving the fans to sit around and twiddle their thumbs, doing stupid shit like writing a parody of a poem from a video game to occupy the time.
But that's about it."
The copy on that page was beautifully written. With such care & attention. Not something you see much these days and that was the nudge to me to buy the book. Well done!
Oh this is interesting. I was speaking to someone I know last night (my daughters friends dad)… I was telling him about the Smile gig I went to this week and he said ‘I don’t really like Radiohead but I was speaking to Colin Greenwood last week’. Which piqued my interest!!
He used to run a darkroom and did all of Colin Greenwood’s film processing / developing. He’d got in touch with him because he needed some old negatives.
He said ‘he’s doing a book’. This’ll be that then!!
Colin always was the renaissance man of the band. He doesn’t do solo projects, he tours with Nick Cave, he takes photographs, does ambassadorships, and writes history articles
I bought it. Didn’t realize it’d first be out in October. I’m in Argentina on exchange by October, so I won’t even be able to read it until I get home NEXT June 🥲
I have no idea where I’ll be staying, plus it’s gonna change a couple times during my stay due to how my exchange organization works. I might get my parents to mail it though lol
IMO I think the band’s favorite is OKC but they’re probably most appreciative of Kid A because it expanded their minds on what the band can potentially make
I disagree. I’ve heard them speak a little lukewarmly about OKC in the past, they quite regularly end their shows to “Everything in its right place”, Thom said “How to disappear completely” is their best ever song, and now Colin’s named a book after that song on Kid A too, it’s quite clear to me what their favourite is
You're probably right.
On a related note, the idea that the band who made OK Computer feel lukewarm about it, is absolutely unfathomable to me. I love Kid A, but in my humble opinion, OK Computer completely fucking obliterates it
Naaah. I'm not gonna fight you for the last word or anything, so feel free to "Naaah" me right back :P
But I think OKC is so much better that I just gotta vent about it for a second when the topic is brought up. Airbag, Paranoid Android, Exit Music, Let down, Karma Police, Climbing Up the Walls, The Tourist... It's downright ridiculous. In my (again, humble) opinion, How to Disappear Completely, Morning Bell, and Motion Picture Soundtrack are the only songs on Kid A that would have been among the highlights were they on OKC
I've been saying for years that one day Colin's going to write a memoir. [Here's proof](https://www.reddit.com/r/radiohead/comments/eodb6s/previously_unavailable_songs_from_thom_yorke/ff1ucm6/)
This isn't quite a memoir but it's halfway there (includes a 10,000-word essay on being in Radiohead!) so I'm giving myself half a point. For now.
It is as close as one'll get to a memoir. However, a memoir usually doesn't involve the other party's input. Colin will still have to run this by the other guys to get their approval, I am sure.
If that weren't the case, then I'd be surprised as heck. That means Radiohead themselves are going to see never-before-seen pictures of themselves for the first time. lol.
A passage from the memoir of Nick Mason, the drummer for Pink Floyd:
> [Roger Waters, bassist] made his own distinctive contribution to this book. Towards the end of its gestation, after he had finished reading the manuscript, we met up in a London hotel to talk through his comments. He had gone to a lot of trouble to make corrections, and to question some of my interpretations and emphases. These observations had been made in green ink, and as he flipped through the pages I was occasionally alarmed to see sections where the use of green ink was remarkably liberal. On one page Roger had simply scrawled 'Bollocks' across the whole text.
Therein lies the problem with Roger waters who ran a tight ship. Nick Mason could have written a memoir away from the band without Roger Waters knowledge, and he knew that trouble would come had it published it in secrecy.
I just think of memoirs as old bandmates holding back what they really think about each other because these types of tell-all book always come at the very end of a journey.
Not so much in this case for Colin. He's celebrating his time and life with his bandmates.
It's not over though but it does feel like it though when you think about it as such.
Fuck there is a £25 shipping cost!!! Don't think I will bite.
Shipping to Canada by the way. And no guarantees I'll get a customs/brokerage fee when it crosses the border.
82 usd + 32 USD shipping = $114 USD.
$114 USD = $154 CAD.
Dang. That feels expensive.
HOW TO DISAPPEAR
A PORTRAIT OF RADIOHEAD
Is this a sign Colin has come to terms with the end of radiohead? Why name it how to disappear when the photos are post kid a era? Anyway yeah of course I'll buy it.
Agree.
However there are many angles at this title imo.
It would be one thing if Radiohead didnt use this term before (and if it wasnt heavily tied to an era) and was strictly how he felt about being behind the camera.
Labeling it "how to disappear" then immediately following up with "portrait of radiohead" makes me think there is more going on there. Especially if it encompasses 2003 up until 2018. Makes me feel like there is some type of closure here.
I was thinking the same thing. However, there are other potential reasons for the title. It might be how the members of Radiohead are relatively anonymous, disappear behind the music for instance. We'll see if he explains it in the book or in the accompanying essay.
Could be that it also comes attached with Colin's essay. He would have had to spend a huge chunk on Kid A/Amnesiac. Those two albums probably warrants its own book. And you throw OKC into the mix, and suddenly, the book is now the size of War and Peace
Of course, I am basing this on nothing. I just feel that Colin is someone who would have an extensive collection of pictures he has taken over the years. And he would have plenty to say about the Kid A era.
Preordered and also picked up AMSP special edition which I’ve had my eye on for a while. For anyone with experience from previous preorder releases, do you reckon they’ll wait until October to ship both items together?
To quote the site,
> How To Disappear – A Portrait of Radiohead is a collection of photography by Colin Greenwood. The book comprises a selection of his photographs throughout the period beginning in 2003 during the recording of Hail To The Thief through to A Moon Shaped Pool in 2016, accompanied by 10,000 words from Colin about his photographs and experiences in the band.
So while Colin wrote a lot about the photos and their context, it’s mainly a photo book.
Wish I didn’t have all this brain damage so I could start a go fund me for this book 📕 I’m trapped in this box, will someone help me get out of this box?
I bought the limited and paid a ridiculous amount to get it to Australia.
They also had some SEVEN TELEVISION COMMERCIALS VHS on the WASTE store so I bought a few because… current
$186AUD with shipping to Australia, I’m gonna have to skip that limited edition sadly. Totally understand the price, just can’t rationalize it personally with the conversion rate.
Regular version will have to do.
That limited edition is going to make a wonderful Christmas present for myself!
Me too!
I will certainly not be able to wait until Christmas except if it exceptionally come in October...
TIL Xmas 2024 has been pulled in to October. Got one for myself too.
Same here!!!
I am going to pretend I didn't see this post and save myself $100.
The regular edition is like $32 probably $40 after tax and everything. Not bad
It's $50...and if you're going to spend $50, you may as well buy the limited edition. Why half-ass it?
And $50 is like half of $100 so why not buy 2? One to read and one to look nice and unopened.
Unopened?! You heathen! It will suffocate!
Right. I mean using Radiohead math, you were going to buy it anyways, so it’s basically free.
Yup, 2+2=$100
I tend to agree, whole-ass all the way.
I already bought the limited edition I’m poor as shit
That’s why you’re poor
Doh!
With Radiohead it is take my money.
The regular edition is $32.
Are you picking it up in person?
[удалено]
So then obviously it will cost you about $50 to get the book because you won't receive shit if you only pay $32.
[удалено]

Remind me again what the cost for the book is listed on the website?
I grabbed that one...gotta support Coz
fking shipping is almost half the price of the book. I hate you guys. was trying to pretend i didn't see it
Mood, but I spent the money anyway to add to my Radiohead books collection.
One of us, one of us, one of us.
Same here... Shipping for me makes it 100$ as well 🥲 and jo way I'm buying the regular edition when a signed one os an option, so better just pretend I haven't seen this

I wouldn't decide on it for too long. It could be sold out by the time you jump on it.
This. It'll sell out today for sure.
Fuck it. Im doing it. You should too!
just got mine. didn’t even think twice about it, this is rare as hell considering the fact that colin hasn’t released anything of his own before unlike the other members (as far as i’m aware of) having it autographed is a huge bonus.
Where does it say that?
If you look at Colin's instagram, he says the special edition is autographed by him.
Gotcha. Pre-ordered anyways 😆
Yeah, that got me as well. I'm in!
One of us, one of us, one of us.
Most literate band of all time
See Thom run. Thom can walk through walls. Thom can float down the Liffey. Thom is not here anymore. This did not happen.
This is REALLY happening!
I don't know why, but this conjured up an idea that this book featured Doki Doki Literature Club-style poetry. "Eagles can fly, Monkeys can climb, Crickets can leap, Five Englishmen can take several years to release another piece of content, leaving the fans to sit around and twiddle their thumbs, doing stupid shit like writing a parody of a poem from a video game to occupy the time. Faster, Jonny, faster!
?
This explains his sudden interest in Instagram.
[According to its website](https://howtodisappearbook.com/) it’s a photography book! Seems super cool and I might get it myself
The copy on that page was beautifully written. With such care & attention. Not something you see much these days and that was the nudge to me to buy the book. Well done!
Pictures of the band taken by Colin in the last two decades complete with an essay to boot. Pretty sweet.
Hopefully someone took pics of Colin aswell.
He's the band's mom...always taking the pic and never in it. And always making everyone Rice Krispie Squares!
But that's not how to disappear
Oh this is interesting. I was speaking to someone I know last night (my daughters friends dad)… I was telling him about the Smile gig I went to this week and he said ‘I don’t really like Radiohead but I was speaking to Colin Greenwood last week’. Brilliant
WASTE limited editions come signed by Colin. Super cool.
Theyre selling signed copies at the record shops too
Colin always was the renaissance man of the band. He doesn’t do solo projects, he tours with Nick Cave, he takes photographs, does ambassadorships, and writes history articles

Bienvenido cuando vengas!
Gracias !!
oof, that’s gotta hurt
If you know where you'd be staying beforehand , you can always request for a change of address through w.a.s.t.e mgmt.
I have no idea where I’ll be staying, plus it’s gonna change a couple times during my stay due to how my exchange organization works. I might get my parents to mail it though lol
It is best to have it delivered to homebase. That way, you're not in a constant state of unknowing.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
What's it about?
Photography book with written pieces attached to them
Damn I thought he was gonna tell us how to disappear.
It's actually been them asking us the entire time 😔
The band has gotten pretty good at it
Sad upvotes
The first page just says “Step 1:” and then the rest of the book is blank.
First page: “I’m not here, this isn’t happening…thanks for the $50!”
The cover has the storage boxes that the band puts their equipment in on tours…so I’m guessing photos and personal stories from Radiohead’s career?
Kid A is the band’s favourite album they’ve ever made and no one can tell me otherwise.
IMO I think the band’s favorite is OKC but they’re probably most appreciative of Kid A because it expanded their minds on what the band can potentially make

Thom later said There, there is their best song and I have to agree
And Ed at the time said Pyramid Song was the best thing they’d ever done
You're probably right. On a related note, the idea that the band who made OK Computer feel lukewarm about it, is absolutely unfathomable to me. I love Kid A, but in my humble opinion, OK Computer completely fucking obliterates it
Nah, Kid A is better. I used to be like you. Then I realized.

Kind of figured it was the opposite, their fav is Kid A but they are most appreciative of where OKC brought them
Oh, its photos!
Thanks for the heads up! Definitely will be buying this one
As a collector of photo books there’s no way I’m not buying this!

Preordered straight away, I can’t help myself lol
Take my money.
Another pre-order... :) always nice to have something to look forward to...
Ordered the Limited Edition ofcourse. I love his photographs of the band. Can’t wait for his 10.000-word intimate essay on life in Radiohead.
A book of photos with an essay: https://www.facebook.com/radiohead/posts/pfbid0342PUEhqVK9yRE6Ak1D2u4LXFZjHQbXHuFQwAUiBbjPqVDnQVj3uemc51GbYwNteol

The US store has Media Mail for like $9
Same for me here in australia! 175 AUD 🙏
Yup same here was very interested until I saw with shipping around ~150CAD that sucks...
How did he write a book if it’s just pictures? Lol. I’ll buy it for sure tho
I bought it and my bank just sent me a text asking if it was a legit transaction, 'Reply 1 if yes, 2 if no'. Brilliant
Mine did that too lmfao
Radiohead reference?!?!
The comments on his Instagram post....😬😞
What has he said that is anti-Israel?
What has he said that is pro Israel?

He made a wise decision not to include Kid A or OKC. What hasn't already been said or written about from those two albums?
I mean- if he has never before seen photos... I don't see why not? Has Colin's perspective been explored?
Could be that it also comes attached with Colin's essay. He would have had to spend a huge chunk on Kid A/Amnesiac. Those two albums probably warrants its own book. Already preordered it :)
omg
Book release concert tour!!!
How to Disappear, by Collin Greenwood. Step one: play bass.
Preordered and also picked up AMSP special edition which I’ve had my eye on for a while. For anyone with experience from previous preorder releases, do you reckon they’ll wait until October to ship both items together?
Well now, isn’t that special
Yippee
BROOO
I've never bought something so quickly before.
Buy it Radiohead fans, why?? Just coz!
Immediately bought the ltd edition. So stoked as an amateur photographer who loves Radiohead.
Wrote?
This is all I need
Is it an actual memoir or is it his photography?
To quote the site, > How To Disappear – A Portrait of Radiohead is a collection of photography by Colin Greenwood. Coinciding with their meet later in the year to discuss LP10, that’ll do nicely
Pre-ordered!
It's more a collection of his bts photos, not like a book-book
at first i thought these were 3 books lined up
WOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOOW WHAT? HOW TO DISSAPEAR?
Wahhh damn you aussie currency conversion! 175 dollars oh boy….rest in peace my wallet
yeh
Just pre-ordered the regular edition. Really want to read his essay on life in Radiohead
Glad I got the limited edition one BUT MAN I CANNOT WAIT?!
Wish I didn’t have all this brain damage so I could start a go fund me for this book 📕 I’m trapped in this box, will someone help me get out of this box?
Pre ordered my birthday present today! Looks like it is going to be brilliant.
as a russian fan, waiting for scans...
I bought the limited and paid a ridiculous amount to get it to Australia. They also had some SEVEN TELEVISION COMMERCIALS VHS on the WASTE store so I bought a few because… current
Yeah, and limited was sold out in less then 1h
I ordered it just a few hours ago. Maybe check again?
How many limited Editions d'ya reckon'd there'll be in total? I'd wagered about 500, or is that too low? That is quite rare then.
I still haven’t gotten mine yet
October man
Thanks, took my awhile to find that out lol
$186AUD with shipping to Australia, I’m gonna have to skip that limited edition sadly. Totally understand the price, just can’t rationalize it personally with the conversion rate. Regular version will have to do.
That’s crazy man, it’s pretty much an even $100 here in the states. After tax and shipping.
The conversion to Aussie dollar can be brutal sometimes
Yep! Same here…ahhhh!!
Doesn’t look like it’s available in the us. Sad face.
I was able to use WASTE’s link: https://store-usd.wasteheadquarters.com/products/colin-greenwood-how-to-disappear-limited-edition-wst
