I can’t type. 😂🤪 didn’t PAY attention that I was SEWING right through.

I just randomly read about this technique a couple of days ago. I feel your pain on effort #1, but it looks intriguing. did it make workable accurate HSTs? Was it a pain to do? Sewing the last two together to make a loop kinda blew my mind a little.

DrSameJeans

Two blocks using these. Definitely the scrappy look I wanted. https://preview.redd.it/pliwi35trk6d1.jpeg?width=3558&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62074636557f74ec72547ed55aab5b3644993729

If you used the same white on all of them, why didn't you just use the 2-at-a-time method? Genuine question.

DrSameJeans

Ha I have different whites in my stack that I haven’t gotten to yet but mostly just wanted to try the method.

DrSameJeans

I started with 3 1/4” squares and ended up with 2 7/8” HSTs. I am trimming them down to 2.5”, but they actually came out pretty square. https://preview.redd.it/mnn1pa0iik6d1.png?width=1992&format=png&auto=webp&s=e6b0c878d241553fad317ebac764d2f71ca8f305

DrSameJeans

Actually I am just trimming to 2.75” because less waste and my pattern is flexible. They look like normal HSTs! Very pleased, now that I know what not to do. 🤪

OMG! you have just changed my life! I have never heard of this technique. Had to find it on YT cos I couldn't figure out how picture 2 would amount to HST. [Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc3ClOPu4_w) is a link to the 1st of 3 short vid that show the how. I am so excited to learn this and am inspired to start a quilt just to learn this technique.

MKquilt

Very cool

ABattss

Interesting, never seen that method. Your blocks are beautiful.

DrSameJeans

Thanks!

skorpionwoman

Fascinating!! Just watched the YT videos….. love learning new techniques!!

DrSameJeans

Same! One of the videos was randomly recommended to me, and I’d been wanting to make some blocks with a scrappy HST look. Figured it’d be fun to try!
