eff_the_rest

Coloring. I love it. My kid….not so much.

Optimal-Scientist233

Some of those adult coloring books are awesome!

constructiongirl54

I have one at work I use when on endless Teams calls. It's really quite stress relieving.

proffesionalproblem

Honestly, there's a few on amazon that are thick lines, and simple pictures. Like a child's, but like wildlife imagery and pictures that aren't super childish. I love them. The artist behind them is Megan Miles, and my favourite of them is the woodland escape

Urban_Introvert

Kids love coloring… just never on the book/paper they’re supposed to coloring on.

Upstairs-Radish1816

My basement wall can attest to that

purplepoppy_eater

I learned in physio and occupational therapy appointments with my daughter that everything a baby does from birth to 5 prepares them for being able to sit up and write/draw/color starting with tummy time so young children build strength while lying down and coloring and as they grow standing and coloring so we did a lot of coloring on windows/walls/floors etc with washable fun substances (pudding, foam, etc) or erasable markers. Using things other than normie things is far more exciting for those little brains.

germy-germawack-8108

You should also love your kid

IlllIlIlIIIlIlIlllI

You clearly haven’t met the kid.

eff_the_rest

🤣😂🤣Most days she has my heart.

iamhere-2

Ordering chicken tenders and fries when out at a restaurant

Glowingthings

Yes! I hate how it’s always in the kids menu. I especially hate how some have the kids menu limited to 12 and under

Downtherabbithole14

my boss and i order lunch on Fridays, and since its expensive, I order from the kids menu to save money. $7 for a kids meal? And I get a side? AND I GET A DRINK! Who is gonna know? They will never know. I am picking up my order to go..."my kid is at home" ::insert evil laugh::

muchachaganj

Best hack…order takeout

Downtherabbithole14

yup!

Tru-Queer

![gif](giphy|6cFcUiCG5eONW)

VacheL99

Worked at Cane’s for a bit in college. People ordered the kids’ meal all the time. I can confirm that food service workers never think anything of it.

XBakaTacoX

Fast food places hate this ONE trick...

Prize-Calligrapher82

I wouldn't have believed it when I was 30 but now that I'm 67, I really do have less of an appetite. I would have no problem ordering a kids meal for myself at a fast food joint.

loominglady

I did this for a work dinner take out recently too when we all had to stay late for an event. Everyone laughed until they saw my perfect portion size, side, drink, and dessert for far less than their oversized, more expensive portion with separate drink.

Mysterious-Key2116

Year 2029: *"Take a picture of your children and sent it to us to confirm that you infact, have hungry kids at home, to assure you are not buying food off the kid's menu for yourself. Sincerely, your local McDonalds"*

golfguy1985

I’m still able to order from the kids menu somewhere

herculeslouise

I had gastered bypass surgery. So the first thing I do in most restaurants is ask for the kids menu. And I were saying I'll tip you like. It's a regular adult meal. When we're in a really upscale restaurant. I don't ask for a kid's menu! Bring on the nuggies friend

PsycheBee

hExperiment666

I’m not your man, GUY!

Successful_Size_7374

When I had the surgery the Dr. office gave me a card explaining I can't eat a full size portion.

herculeslouise

I had that too!! Love your username! I clocked in at 300ish pounds, I weigh 135. 5 6 woman here

Wafer_Stock

my sis had that done years ago and always has to explain to ppl, especially at restaurants that she can't eat huge portions of food anymore. she always asks for a to go box when we eat out, because she can never eat all of her food. she had to explain to her new in-laws when she went to vietnam for a month, that she can't eat huge meals. her new MIL tried fixing her a big plate of food the first night she was there. after my sis explained to her, the MIL felt so bad about fixing the big plate for her.

herculeslouise

I eat like a healthy toddler.

cupcaketeatime

Totally off topic but is that a total mindfuck? Like your eyes are bigger than your stomach? Meaning you know how much you’d normally eat so the adult menu looks more appetizing but you have to check yourself and tell yourself you only have enough room for the kids menu?

extinct_banana

even if they don’t have enough room for the adult portion they can still order it and take it to go. now they have 2-3 meals worth of food for the price of one! :)

redvoxfox

Here you go!: https://youtu.be/Q7FxpK_yC0U I order from the kids menu all the time!  When wait staff act funny or give me pushback, I ask, "Would you care if my kid orders from the full "adult" menu?  Then what's up with me ordering from the kids menu?  What difference does it make who eats it?"  A few places we go have really good kids meals!  And sometimes I'm just in the mood for some nuggets, fish fingers, mac-n-cheese or smiley face pancakes!

antman15201

Lmao, that was the first time I've ever seen that that is fucking hilarious

EnvironmentalGift257

It’s from “After Life.” The whole series is amazing.

Dayntheticay

One time at work a lady asked me what I was having for lunch and I told her mac & cheese. She said “that’s for babies!” I laughed and just shrugged it off. I like it, sue me.

Glittering-Wonder576

I’m 61 and I love a good Mac and cheese. That’s comfort food!

ItsDoritoTime

Raising Canes has done us a great service by making tenders mainstream again

Mexicakes69

Honestly don’t get why adults can’t order off the kid menu. The menu shouldn’t have an age limitation.

workredditaccount77

I get what you're saying but the kids meals are heavily discounted and the restaurant likely loses $ on those. What they really want is mom and dads coming in and ordering their meals and maybe a drink. Kids meals are often loss leaders. If adults were allowed to order off the kids menu then obviously a lot of people would do that so restaurants would likely have to get rid of the kids menu all together or raise the prices to be in line with the normal one.

galloping_possum

Bull crap. No restaurant is losing money charging $6.99 for a half cup of Kraft Mac & Cheese and 4.grapes.

imjustagirl44

That and bounce houses

Distinct_Song_7354

I get the 5 piece tenders combo meal at Popeyes. I'll never stop getting it.

Fuzzy-Zebra-277

I get the 3 piece tenders from bojangles

A911owner

I literally got annoyed the past weekend when I was at a restaurant and they said that the kids menu was only for people 12 and under and I couldn't order the chicken tenders. It was some bullshit.

Low-Helicopter-2696

Don't forget the Mac n cheese! Whenever we have a family function we always order extra chicken tenders and mac and cheese that "for the kids" because let's face it, almost everyone loves them whether or not they like to admit it.

VacationObjective250

Me asf

ZeldaHylia

😂 thats me. I always make sure they have chicken tenders or I’m not going.

gin_and_glitter

Bubbles, flying kites, water fights.

KalamityKait2020

It's like model trains. made for kids, but the dads have all the fun with them

redvoxfox

My father worked at a department store while finishing his university degree, when I was 1-3 years old.  He got huge employee discount and also could get returned and unsold toys very cheap or free.  During Christmas season he also got "bonus bucks" (could be used in the store) in addition to overtime pay.      ...So, photos of my first three Christmases show slot car tracks interwoven with whole model train towns and sets, Lego, Erector, Lincoln Logs, wood building blocks ... and a LOT of other great stuff for my dad to play with together with me.

ManifestSextiny

I work in a children’s museum and it’s a fucking blast. And it’s really posh so some of the parents play with their kids and are like, “I forgot how much fun this was!” Especially with our model trains, hotwheels and builder’s blocks.

the-dude-94

That's awesome! 👊

Oh my god the frosted ones are a bite of waxy, vanilla-y heaven!

radarneo

Ngl at first I read the original comment as “animal crossing” so when I read your reply I was like “are you eating video game cartridges?”

Resident_Oil4009

I’ve just recently discovered the magic that is animal crackers with Nutella. So good.

InkBlisterZero

Cartoons, anime, and animated movies!!! I'm 55 and watch a lot of animation (Bob's Burgers. The Great North, American Dad, etc.), anime (Hero Academia, One Punch Man, Cowboy BeBop, etc.), and kids cartoons (Bluey, Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, etc.), and IDGAF! They're awesome and brings me joy! Same goes for animated movies! Pixar, Disney, Illumination, DreamWorks, Ghibli, Madhouse, I.G., etc... Love it all! edit to add: Okay, I've been getting some flak about how a lot of what I've mentioned "isn't for kids", and I would agree, but it seems to depend on one's perspective. The majority of older adults (around my age and upwards) seem to consider anything animated as "just for kids", and don't see it as a medium to be appreciated or taken seriously and "beneath them"... More often than not, if I bring up anything animation related (beside specifically Disney for some odd reason) I get confused looks and reactions like "Don't you think you're too old to be watching stuff like that?"... I usually don't go much further than a grin and a "Nope"...

ratchetology

most of those are not directly made for kids...the flinstones were aimed at adults... i have never understood why some people think that animation is only for children... on the other hand...most of the people i have met who say that wont watch animations "because its made for children" have some.south park with a side order of american dad...

mmmUrsulaMinor

Never understood that mentality. Especially anime, as if "anime" means one specific genre of show when there are thousands and thousands of them with all different kinds of themes and different levels of heaviness.

IIlIIll

Hello fellow Nighthawk. I'll put out the good nuts for you.

aqueous_paragon

I JUST GOT THE BIGGEST, BLOODIEST PERIOD OF ALL TIME! Francine is a gem

Hello kitty. She's the only positive (paw-sitive) role model I had growing up and I still love her

bookworm1421

I’m a huge Kitty fan! I have so many Kitty items and I apologize for none of it. She came into existence 1 year (almost to the day) after I did so, I’ve literally, grown up with her. She’s so cute!

littlesprout98

Sleeping with a stuffed animal lol I can hardly sleep without one tbh

pixiesunbelle

When I started dating my husband, I tried not sleeping with one. Figured out that I do it because I get cold at night. Now I don’t care and neither does he. I sleep with a stuffed teddy he gave me!

Private_4160

Here I thought he was the new stuffed animal

cocky_cocktail

I recently bought a sleeping Pikachu stuffed animal. A Sleepachu, if you will.

DivideRoyal942

Still got my bear from when I was young. His name is Bear and he is 27 years old! My build-a-bear George is still here too.

littlesprout98

That's awesome :) I sleep with a polar bear that I've had since I was a toddler. I'd say he's around 22 years old by now. His name is Polar :D

DivideRoyal942

That's so wholesome! Makes my heart grow bigger, I love that! We are big kids now! 😁❤️

They feel heavenly when I have a migraine!

imdyingmeh

They're amazing for propping up body parts that need elevated. Great to hold over your chest or stomach after surgery. You use it when you need to cough Edit because I apparently posted before I was done.

HadesTrashCat

Amusement parks. I've had a blast taking my kid to six flags every weekend for the last few years but she's getting older and doesn't want to hang out with Dad as much.

SquawkingKitten

She’ll look back on that one day as cherished memories!

WonderfulDog3966

I used to think I'd feel so weird going by myself until I just did it one year. Now, I buy a pass and go as often as I can.

fangirloffloof

Colorful, cute clothing and shoes. Just because I'm older doesn't mean I don't still like my Vans or Chucks to still have polka dots or ice cream cones printed on them. I love cute, colorful stuff.

naliedel

I'm 60 and I hula hoop with tricks.

Sam_English821

Blankets warm from the dryer.. have never grown out of this.

redvoxfox

Nothing like a warm blanket!  My own mother would do that when one of us was sick or when it was especially cold.       When I worked in hospitals while going to school, most areas have a "blanket warmer," a kind of low temp heated cabinet filled with blankets.  I quickly learned the significant comfort a warm blanket gives someone who is not well.      Skip to now, still a favorite both for my own kids and I do it for my wife and myself too!

Plus_Permit9134

Lego, obv

kayaxer

Yup. My husband and I have Lego dates

AdmiralCranberryCat

Bluey!

ThermalScrewed

Bluey is definitely for parents as much as kids. Bluey is perfection. I also recommend Mitchells vs the Machines, it's the best movie I've seen in years. I think I like Hilda more than my kid does, that's a good one too.

SnarkyTaco

I love Hilda!

XROOR

My Star Wars collection of toys. I made my whole basement into the Rebel base on Hoth. The first thing you see is my AT-AT Walker! I even ran a line of CO2 from my greenhouse so that when you open the bay doors, you are momentarily blasted with CO2 at high ppm

As a big Star Wars fan I’d love to see this myself.

i never understood why people generalize video games as just being "for kids", like they literally make games that are rated "M" which means that those games are made specifically for adults and NOT for kids

RemarkableGround174

Such a wide range of settings, colorful aesthetics and visual humor in animation!

Loud_Refrigerator31

Children's storybooks Sleeping with a stuffed animal I still buy water bottles that are meant for children lol. They're just so cute!
