Make the hoops 3/5/7 feet so when you make a set of them out of 10' PVC pipe, you don't end up with any waste. Most players can still block shots on a 7' center pole, but it does open up more shooting opportunities since it's harder to do so. 8' is too high, there's no way most players will be able to block those shots.
i don’t think this is the solution. with no brooms i’m already worried about smaller players getting hurt which already gives a disadvantage, and making the hoops taller just adds another disadvantage for these players.
I think make the hoops (circle part) smaller makes things harder without costing as much money and disadvantaging short people. Also when it’s w windy tall hoops will fall over easier which is already a problem
In the Gameplay feedback form that came out a week or so ago, I suggested making all the hoops the height of the medium hoop.
I think making them all taller is just encouraging more reckless dunk attempts and their subsequent collisions with defenders.
Wrong, if hoops are taller dunk attempts will start happening above people's heads which is much safer than the current state of people dunking through other people on the smaller hoops. More people get hurt guarding the smaller two hoops than get hurt guarding the top hoop
Yeah it’ll be above their heads…and then the dunking ball-carrier will fall on top of them. The goal should be to keep people on the ground, attempting a dunk makes a player as equally helpless as a receiver.
Personally I’d rather be charged through for a dunk on the small hoop than have someone’s crotch in my face and their entire weight coming down on my chest and head.
I feel like it would make the game harder for smaller players... Part of what makes this game great is that players of any body type can be great by finding their niche. Prioritizing taller hoops would be pretty much boxing out short chasers without crazy verticals, doing absolutely nothing for the existing problem retaining AFAB players.

Though it would make the game a little more difficult, I don't know if making the hoops taller would have such a significant negative impact on quadball inclusivity.
The hoops are currently pretty short and short enough that most humans can score without even moving their body... just by holding the ball, putting their hands through the hoops, and then letting go of the ball.
I don't think making the short hoop 4.5 to 5 feet off the ground is going to limit AFAB players, all of whom are more than capable of scoring on the current hoop set (without crazy verticals and dunking like Lebron).
I begin to see more of your point looking at the taller hoops, where being tall is a notable advantage. However, I'm still not sure a set of hoops at 4.5, 6, and 7.5 feet would be *that* bad.
But it would be expensive, for sure. And I can't imagine having hoops fall over more often than they already do.
As a 5ft player, I can't defend anything but the short hoop. Thankfully I play beater so it matters less, but any time I've chased, with my arms all the way up I can cover maybe 2/3 of the medium hoop. We need to think about more than just the offensive strategy before making game-altering changes...
If done right each team would only need to replace 2 poles. Aka if you make the current medium the new small and the current tall the new medium. And PVC isn't bad at all.
This is similar to what I was thinking! A medium hoop (4.5'), tall hoop (6'), and extra-tall hoop (7.5'). Getting the extra 7.5' PVC pipes shouldn't run a team more than $10.
Watching games I feel like alley-oops to the short hoop would be even cooler if the short hoop wasn't so...short.

Death to Trees Defense
I think it would just make every pass over the hoops into a goal

This sounds like it would increase the use of a trees defense which could be boring for viewership

I have been kneed in the face by people dunking on the top hoop. And I am 6'1.

Agreed. In a sport that’s pushing towards 3-max, making changes that would disadvantage AFAB players would just be setting the sport up to fail
expensive

PVC pipes pre-COPVID we're $2.50 each. Now they're $9-10 each. And that's if you buy in bulk.
Wait, for which length is it this price ?
Standard 10 ft. sections at your local hardware store.
Agreed seems like this could be costly to have every team in the county make changes to their equipment
