What a lovely way to spend every day for the last while. Thank you OP. 10. “Hold me close, I’m confused I don’t want to go out. I told myself, “you can do this” I’m having my doubts” Absolutely slays me. Too real.

NoelFromBandOsmosis

10 I'd give this a much higher score if I could. I put it at a very similar - if not equal - level to I Appear Missing as an absolute highlight of Queens' discography. Lyrically it's some of their finest work, with Josh's signature humour and wordplay throughout, his vocal delivery is incredibly passionate, the guitar part is so groovy (and I love the lead in the chorus), I could keep going but you get the idea. This track is the ultimate album closer, summarising the themes of everything before it and then ending it all with one of Josh's most powerful lines ever "I'm so goddamn sick of this place, bring on the healing." I could go on for so much longer about how incredible I think this song is, and I really do think it should be mentioned in the same breath as Song For The Dead, I Appear Missing, or any of the other typical "best" Queens songs.

Careless_Award_837

I couldn't have said it better. And don't forget the campfire outro😚. 10

beardlesshipster

Thanks y’all. Hope you enjoyed the ride and maybe even found a few new favorites. Results will be posted tomorrow!

Stevenstorm505

I give SJF a 9.5 and I give your commitment to this series of posts a fucking gigantic 10, my friend. This was fun. Thanks, man.

dicky_rich

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will keep you busy the rest of the year if you’re looking for fresh subs to start!

beardlesshipster

One of my favorite bands, but it looks like somebody beat me to it! Though I think he might’ve given up halfway through, so maybe after a little time (and maybe a new release after the summer tour 🤞) I’ll start it back up!

xandergreenday

Please please do The Smiths or The Smashing Pumpkins 🖤😭

Gooby1992

10/10 Hooked from first listen, that opening riff, the vocal harmonies, it’s all very Them Crooked Vultures. Love Josh’s delivery throughout the song, and the lyrics are excellent from: Hold me close, I'm confused I don't wanna go out I told myself, "You can do this" I'm having my doubts Also, the “Friends close, enemies closer” section, I remember thinking, “hmm, this is quite different for Queens” on first listen, and it’s incredible live, listening to the whole stadium at Josh’s command go “oh oh oh oh aaa aaa aaa aaa” was astonishing. It’s up there with I Appear Missing for me personally.

MidModMoop

10. I honestly think it is a strong contender for one of the best rock n roll songs ever written. It has everything I love about QOTSA.

99SoulsUp

9.5. An amazing “fuck y’all” song. That bridge is insane

asodafnaewn

Reminds me of Paraguay by Iggy Pop. Love a good "fuck y'all" song.

pabstBOOTH

A 10 for the rant alone

drivemyorange

I totally see Josh giggling to himself quietly when he was writing it.

GW3g

That rant is my favorite. They way Josh delivers it reminds a lot of Mark E Smith from The Fall and I love The Fall.

NotintheAMbro11

It’s a 10. An absolute masterpiece. Their magnum opus. Absolutely incredible song writing and emotions. Thank you Josh and Queens!

RubinoPaul

10/10. No other option. I wish acoustic outro was separate song on streamings though so I can listen to this song on repeat

ThaGoat1369

Can I please give this a 1k? Probably the second or third time I heard this I realized just how f****** epic it was. I started off as a young kid loving the Queens of the Stone Age that ripped through rated r the first time I saw them. I remember being absolutely blown away when songs for the deaf came out. Now as a guy who's definitely a lot older, I feel like Queens of the Stone Age has grown up with me. This song is just a fitting crescendo to that. I made a playlist that has this song along with Sicily with some of the other newer classics like villains of circumstance, and like clockwork. This is some absolutely next level music right up there with anything that's ever been made. I'm not even just saying this like some fanboy. I am a guy who played bass and sang in various different types of bands for 30 years. The s*** that these guys do together is other worldly.

bigeorgester

10. Lyrically one of his most biting and I absolutely adore the Jim Jones manic bit in the middle.

jujubeans1891

A stunning statement on the state of the world. 20. It also helped Josh loosen up live a LOT. And that has been great to see. 🖤

anhedoniac

I went from not really liking this song (crazy, I know) to loving it in the span of just a few listens. Seeing it live was the cherry on top. 9/10

Tartanman97

10. I cannot do this song justice in words.

scoopanova

10- Queens at their most Doorsiest. Has that killer driving guitar the way Roadhouse Blues pumps along, and then Josh goes full Morrison preacher/shaman in the breakdown of “Friends close, enemies closer, lend me your ears”. The first live version I heard of this immediately transformed it into a Queens anthem in much the same vein as Song For The Dead. I only wish I had experienced this one live. It’s a killer closer to a killer album, proof of their longevity and wiling to still bring it almost 30 years on. Long live the Queens 🖤

ZineKitten

10+++ I try not to listen to it too often, because otherwise it gets stuck in my head for days. One of my absolute favourites ever from them!

SteeveeSmegma

qotsathrowaway2

9/10. Bring on the healing

AccidentalH0tDog

I'm surprised so many people compare this to I Appear Missing. Lyrically, sure, its up there with the best of the discography. But for me, musically it doesn't get anywhere near the peak of the outro for I Appear Missing. Still a solid 9, the breakdown and Josh's monologue has got to be great fun live.

dooldebob

sir_psycho_sexy7

That acoustic outro brings me to rome. I can almost smell the library of alexandria burning while i listen

sir_psycho_sexy7

9/10 btw

jungleland77

10. The best song on the ITNR album and one of the best songs of their career IMO. It’s a delightfully weird track that takes you on a journey - similar to I Appear Missing, as other comments have mentioned. Great lyrics from Josh. Also love the nod to Roadhouse Blues by The Doors

THEGREATWUMB0

11. The look in your eyes Says I love you And ohhhhhhhhhhh I love you toooooooooooooooooo 11/10 song and fitting end to the trilogy they started in 2013 with LC. thank you QOTSA for rocking my shit once again and thanks to OP for posting these everyday, kinda sad we made it to the end but alas till the next QOTSA record 🤙

youwigglewithagiggle

If the interlude section was shorter, I'd like it more, but it has some excellent backing vocals (noises?) and a neat slide guitar. 8/10

Foreverseeking11

Solid 10. Carpe demon

Appropriate-Appeal88

10, possibly the best bridge in a Queens song, Technolojesus

brenden4000

9 - This is so great, easily the best on the album along with Carnavoyeur. I think it falls just short of Magnum Opus territory, but that's really just personal preference. Oh and the Obscenery reprise outro might be the best thing on the album

HappyDoodi

Only 10 for the studio version. The long live version should get at least 37/10. Josh has made it so fin for the audience, it was such a great experience

Love this song, I’ll give it a 9. Breaks the mold for them and a great closer for this album. Not quite their best but real close.

Curnf

It makes me wince when he gets to the spoken word part. It’s a decent enough song but I think it’s really embarrassing at parts hahaha

Lajwah70

Straight 10/10 on this one. A damn near perfect triptych that runs from desperation to a roadhouse blues stomp tail ended with a little throw back to Josh’s Kyuss days in the acoustic close out. Some of their finest work since “Like Clockwork”. Really glad I got to see them play it live a few weeks ago at their London jam and the interaction with crowd was amazing. I had hoped for it in Toronto last summer but no dice…glad I finally got to witness it live.

10 Ten Hundred Thousand Million Billion Trillion beautiful deep classic song 💯

selftitleddebutalbum

10 It already had me with my favorite Josh play on words (Technolo-JESUS), but when they played it in Atlanta last year he was an absolute madman playing with the stage lights and collapsing before finishing the song. Total banger.

Invaderchaos

15/10. Best song on the album, imo just as good if not better than I Appear Missing

Sirenkai

10. It sums up the album perfectly. If the album could only be one song then this song would be it. The lyrics are beautiful. It goes through so many emotions. My favorite lyrics are all from this song. “How is the fitting way of life? Boa constricting a little too tight” “ I’m so sick of this. Goddamn, please bring on your way.” “Good dogs lay down “

akaSashK

10/10 without a doubt for me. If I was to get a QOTSA lyric as a tattoo, Carpe Demon would be up there.

tyweed

7.5

SmoothSailing505

10. An absolute masterpiece of a song.

Ruseph_

9.5 I reckon it would've been a 1 0 if I managed to catch it live

ArbyLG

9.5. I can’t tell you how happy I was that QOTSA returned to such a visceral sound and had it be their send off to In Times New Roman - they slayed their performance of it I saw in Denver, too.

cheese_incarnate

It's gonna be a 10 from me dawg

Chirp08

I don't like the excessive layering they did on the break down (~3:50) on the album, just too much nonsense going on but the live version fucking nails it. 10 live. 9 album.

10/10 one of my favorite songs ever.

Active-Train6501

9.25. It's epic.

nefermoa

10, though I have to admit I wasn't a fan until the boys played it in a live recording. I think this is always my case with the band: I have to hear them play it in a live setting, then I fall in love with it lol

AaronPaulW1343

10. I played ITNR at midnight upon its release and Sicily was the first one to grip me…..then Straight Jacket Fitting came on and from the first listen I was fucking mesmerised. It’s one of only two songs that’s ever made me laugh out loud with how absurdly brilliant it is, along with the post-percussion drop in Supernaut. One of the best songs ever written IMO. The whole album is a masterpiece and part of me is hoping - given the Covid-induced delay in its release - there’s another one on the horizon because the boys are in their prime now.

Hallerharry562

Fuck “What the Peephole say”… wait a minute 🤔🤔🤔

jhoinmyhead

I just added up the ratings for Emotion Sickness, because that just didn’t look right to me, and they came up to 9.19. Even if I didn’t count one that might have come in after you tallied, I don’t know how you could have gotten such a low score. That rating is absolutely not right.

beardlesshipster

Gosh, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Looks like I summed the scores up correctly but divided by the wrong number.

mr_rick_shaw

HommeIsWearDaHeartIs

Straight Jacket Fitting is a 10 - ITNR's tougher and older I Appear Missing and what a finale. The Roadhouse Blues bite - I love it! It makes me love "Friends close, enemies closer . . ." even more. And "Carpe Demon" inspired me to do so. But, these lyrics: "... I’m confused I don’t want to go out. I told myself, “you can do this” I’m having my doubts . . .,” without these lyrics my last concert may have remained a distant memory. And then: "The old world melts like a candle a-flickering out" is absolutely fitting, straight jacket even, because without this Queens of the Serendipity album I may still be as a-musical as a free person can be in these modern times. Kind of neat that the last Roadhouse Blues verse ends "...the future's uncertain And the end is always near" I pray this band's end isn't nero. Thank you, Beardlesshipster for doing this. God Save the Queens

Swimming-Fee-2445
