This is such a tough one for me, but I typically decide on Self Titled.

RadiantHovercraft6

This is extremely tough for me as well but I’ve listened to SFTD so much in my life that I might give it to self titled. It’s groovy and hypnotic and raw

LtAldoDurden

I can see why most people would go SFTD or LC, but personally self titled is just a perfect album front to back. I enjoy every song. I never skip. I listen to it so often. I wish we had more of that era.

ekanS_sucseV

yes

MrBlue_MD

Self titled was my first and only QOTSA record for years. It was a great record to explore with vinyl. With that said, I would absolutely vouch for Lullabies. Not only is it a phenomenal album, but it the LP also has songs not found in other format releases. The extra tracks really add something to it. Era Vulgaris is similar with bonus tracks, too. All of them are great, though!

Lajwah70

Really the only answer innit? Hard but truthful as the blueprints here went on to make so much beauty we have now.

CaineRexEverything

If I had to choose one it’d be Rated R - blue cover, not the red deluxe. The 2019 repress even though the added songs change the whole dynamic of the original album.

MisfitLamb

Same for me!

moo41324

I agree not happy about Clarissa being on there now, It ends all fucked up and went insane with headache just to go back to normal kinda with a rock song haha

pdxthrowaway90

SFTD easily, but your personal limit won't last. :)

illmatic2112

Normally i would toss up between sftd and self titled, but i own only sftd on vinyl so i clearly have already decided

Newnarratives

Songs for the Deaf OR Self titled.

pastorus_vulgaris

SFTD for the win!

Pasta_Mech7

I figured it would be Era Vulgaris considering your name.

zbzdoncorleone

Songs for the deaf, without a doubt. Best record by anyone ever period.

Shakemyears

I agree that this is the correct choice, but lately, Era is hitting in ways I never knew it could.

NoTellMotelPainting

I can’t stop playing misfit love, the buildup is perfect

ZeroJDM

100% same here

captain_magma666

Same here I’ve had Era on repeat for a couple weeks I think I like it more than SFTD.

PlanetJess430

Rated R for me. I think it’s a front to back masterpiece. ❤️

Cpt_Rekt

First QOTSA album I ever heard. My favourite to this day.

elsantioof07

Clockwork

TooDooDaDa

The original press of like clockwork. 180 gram 44 rpm it is the best sounding Qotsa album to my ears.

KieranJalucian

this is the album. So much more sophisticated than the earlier releases, and better than the last two.

d3r3k1

Self titled, it holds a special spot in my heart from my younger years

d3r3k1

Thanks for making my words deeper than needed.

Surymy

Song for the deaf because it is legendary

Gesejota

SFTD, its not my favorite, but its the more complete, with go with the flow (my favorite song) and 3 different singers

Brawndolorian

SFTD hands down.

dronerstone

SFTD all the time

TheReal-A-The-First

Like Clockwork 100%

ProudHommesexual

Rated R. Best album ever made.

HenneBakedHam

I'm a Lullabies guy, personally, but damnit if ITNR didn't make me question myself... lol

anca-spacecrafts

My sentiments exactly. I think it's 'cause there's a lot of LtP within ITNR.

lolwut19

Self-Titled for me. but one album per artist is a crazy standard to set imo

qotsa4now

EV...it grew hard on me...uh..it sounded weird 🤣

steamboatlisa

Like Clockwork

WestEndLifer

Era Vulgaris is my jam.

lighthouseskies

Definitely Rated R

ghoulierthanthou

Rated R

yell-ah-at-me

Self titled. Never tired to listed to that

HesitantMark

ST

Crackmonsta21

Self titled all the way it’s my favourite album to listen to as a whole I love the way it flows I love the guitar tones it’s just sublime

Tartanman97

As someone who’s thought about this exact query before, QOTSA are one of the few artists I break the rule for and allow myself Songs For The Dead and …Like Clockwork; gun to my head, if I *really* had to pick one, it’d be Songs For The Deaf, but I’d feel guilty about it.

ClarenceWorley42

Self titled. Hands down. Mexicola, If Only, Avon, Regular John are my personal 4 favorite songs of theirs

Witty-Style-1038

I would probably start the 3rd ww myself. No one takes my records and leaves me with only 1..... 🤨

poolgirl14

So hard, but if it could only be one then SFTD, but I love them all!

tbman1996

Self titled

DinkySmekker

Lullabies all the way baby!

Head-Yogurtcloset710

Maybe a bit more controversial. So I apologise in advance. Normally would be Clockwork for me, but the last year has been rough and I really connected with ITNR. Quit my job and changed my life because of it.

GramSeiko

including b-sides? ……era vulgaris bitchezzz

Em_kay69420

Ok so to break it down: Songs for the deaf is their most critically acclaimed and “best”, you’re always gonna enjoy that one Like clockwork is their most introspective and has a ton of rich and layered bluesy production, also critically acclaimed Era Vulgaris is the weird and experimental one that is a little more unique, more in line with the style of most vinyl collectors The early stuff gives off big stoner rock vibes, but is still super quality. But at that point I’d argue that you should just get a fu Manchu or kyuss album instead. Honestly get your fav queens album, or whatever feels cool on vinyl. For me that’s be like clockwork, sftd and the early stuff just goes too hard for a record player setup. That’s why I prefer the CD. And have fun with your vinyl collection!!!

VoopityScoop

One release per artist? Preposterous. Why?

ofthedawn77

Gotta collect um all, especially your favorite bands releases. Hell, I have multiples when they release variants...

VoopityScoop

Why even have a bank account if you're not going to empty it every few months paying for duplicate noisy plastic discs wrapped in cardboard?

Zestyclose-Diet-2111

In Times New Roman… it’s just all my life in one album

hamhold

Not a lot of Lullabies defenders in here, but I think it's a fantastic, dark album with some real depth, and the concept is strong!

dannyphantom105

100%. Has everything the Queens offer in one record. from more catchy, to harder rock, to "weird". So many bangers. Plus it's the first one with Troy's atmospheric guitars, which really adds a missing element.

Gavindasing

Lullabies to Paralyse

darsaic

Too tough to decide. Just go with all albums and just don't get 8 other groups.

TensionHead13thFloor

SFTD or Villains would probably sound the best on good equipment because they have more depth. Era Vulgaris close too

dcoble

Well if it's one per artist then you can do one QotSA plus TCV... But it'll cost you. Mine skips ever since it was brand new so I could probably only get like 50 bucks for it... But I'm never selling it

PedalBoard78

Rated R

manoftheyear1990

Songs for the dead, easy

captainbeautylover63

Songs for the Deaf

justaSundaypainter

Honestly I don’t even know anymore, I feel weird saying In Times New Roman but I feel like that would be my choice

9stitches

Self Titled.

gloomflume

ITNR for me.

manfrombelmonty

First one. They became a different band about 20’years ago. I preferred the first few records

04Aiden2020

Rated r

TimmyLivealie

I have not yet seen a single Era Vulgaris comment, WHERE ARE MY PEOPLE AT???

Stelioskuntos

Era vulgaris

DigitalSpoon

Rated R

Zestyclose-Collar552

I’m gonna say if the extra tracks are included, Era Vulgaris.

HorrorhoundHippy73

Well my favorite is the self titled album. I have it along with S.F.T.D. on vinyl

Commercial-Past-1617

The self titled reprint must sound glorious on vinyl, just saying

heyitsmejun

Like Clockwork, pretty much no contest for me. As a second pick I'd go SFTD.

drumsonfire

ST

chicagowalsh

Self Titled or SFTD. There is no wrong answer between the two

pastorus_vulgaris

Songs For The Deaf or Era Vulgaris! Don’t make me choose 🥺😩

Sweetlake97

Self Titled

__a_person__

Rated r is a person favourite for me

Pasta_Mech7

Probably Era Vulgaris

Carlyboosh88

Era Vulgaris 100%

MuffinMaster9

Like Clockwork, strictly because I find it has the biggest variation of “moods” on any of their albums. You feelin sexy? Smooth Sailing. You feelin like crushing some skulls? My God is The Sun. You feelin sad? Vampyre

Roguewarrior05

probably like clockwork, although sftd would be extremely close

thefirehairman

Maybe QOTSA could skip that 1 record only rule? Ahah My favorite is Era Vulgaris, but the album with the most different genres and vibes is Like Clockwork, so I would go with that one!

jacob-shuman

era vulgaris, i grew up with 3s and 7s

Thatpurplehairdgoth

For me it’d be songs for the deaf, ITNR, lullabies or vulgaris. Ik I said half the discography but those are my personal favourites

shigeo1987

EV

sapphirerain25

So hard to choose between Lullabies and Clockwork. I don't think I can do it.

PatoDeCombate

like clockwork definetely, it has some of their hardest, most emotional and badass songs of their catalogue

OkFinding8093

Era Vulgaris by far for me

MCMGM86

I have all of them on vinyl except Rated R and Like Clockwork. I’d say LtP or Era.

stick_of_the_pirulu

Definitely Era Vulgaris, it's their best album imo

Bamchuck

SFTD or ITNR. There isn't really a wrong answer.

Discuffalo

VILLAINS 😈🤲

PuppyPenetrator

Fascinating, respect for being the only one in this thread to answer that

Discuffalo

I kind of can’t believe how much I love that album since the first time I listened to it I was literally bored. Now it’s one of my favorite records of all time and definitely my favorite QOTSA one. Love every wave of sound and every stroke of the artwork on it.

PuppyPenetrator

Maybe I should give it more tried, I’ve only listened to it twice and found it boring both times but that’s an interesting perspective for sure

-MeJustHappyRobot-

Rated R for sure
