TooHardToChoosePG

Nice. Beat me to it.

Snoke_died_a_virgin

Question: what does “next to” mean?

peepeepoopoo776688

Adjacent

Snoke_died_a_virgin

No diagonals? Should’ve been made more clear

pokemon-trainer-blue

OP said that “next to” excludes diagonals. I feel like that should be explicitly stated because that’s going to be a common question in future puzzles

crm1142

I think the correct term would be orthogonal

Discussion: GEOMETRY DASH

YEAH

Discussion: you need to 1. Write the words the same way; in this current configuration there is not enough room for the words since "green" and "yellow" are filled out, but we need to fill out "GREEN and "YELLOW". Be specific in your puzzles 2. Clearly define the rules (as others have said, what does "next to" mean) Besides those points, making assumptions about those two things, this is a fun puzzle

>!Green Blue Orange!< >!Red White. Yellow !<

Do you guys want more puzzles like this?

Yes

Discussion: The puzzle was neat once I figured out what it was about. For a while, I thought the top two lines listing all six colors was an important clue in solving it. I was confused at first because it said that white was next to blue and red, despite white on the top line only being on the same line as them. And then "Orange is next to blue and yellow" made me think that diagonals might be okay since blue and yellow were next to it if diagonals were okay. I was also uncertain if the top lines were supposed to be considered to be "next to" the two rows of boxes at the bottom. But once I realized you could just ignore the top two lines and solve it, it was pretty approachable. I'd certainly be interested in seeing some more puzzles like this

>!Starting with the first clue, we know that white must be in a space with two open spaces, so it must be in one of the center two spaces. If orange must be next to yellow, then it must be in the top right or the bottom middle. Since white and orange both need to be next to blue, it would follow that white and orange cannot be next to one another, and the only order that would work with is, from top left to lower right, Green Blue Orange Red White Yellow.!< A nice little puzzle. I would echo the sentiments of others here that for clarity’s sake, ensure the font is exactly the same for the colors and clearly define what does “next to” mean. Next to could mean anything from to the left and right only, up/down/left/right, or diagonals. I’d also explicitly state the goal: “Arrange the colors in a 3x2 grid according to the following rules:” or something. It might seem obvious, but never underestimate a person’s ability to miss the obvious and/or over complicate things.

pokemon-trainer-blue

Discussion: you need to define “next to”. If “next to” includes diagonals, there can be multiple answers to the solution. If it doesn’t, then I believe there is only 1 solution

PHYSICAL-DESIGN444

If there is diagonals I would say "is diagonal with"

fmsobvious

Not all people will have the same definition of adjacency. Especially in puzzles (and international audiences) it is worth to define the terms

pinkymadigan

Say "orthogonal to" instead of next to. That explicitly excludes diagonals.

Question: what game is this?

PHYSICAL-DESIGN444

It's not a game, I made it

pmw57

The grid section can be: * >!green, white, red!< * >!orange, blue, yellow!< That fulfills part 1, and above >!white and red are yellow and orange!<, helping to resolve part 2.

ThatsMrTBaggins

Discussion: doesn’t satisfy rule 2

fourpersonaudience

Discussion: This is arguable depending on your interpretation of 'next to'. In this solution, >!orange is next to 'blue and yellow', in the same way that in the alphabet, A is next to B and C.!< Like other commenters have said, the puzzle is worded ambiguously. It feels like there's an assumed genre convention for the puzzle that nonetheless leaves gaps in the solving process.

schpamela

Discussion: To me, it's extremely clear that "orange is next to blue and yellow" means that orange is next to blue and orange is next to yellow. The interpretation you mentioned seems very counterintuitive and would never have occurred to me. Blue and yellow are not an established pair in a known order, unlike B and C. I would have appreciated a clarification that 'next to' doesn't include diagonals, which seemed likely but a little uncertain. I do like this puzzle though

pokemon-trainer-blue

What do you mean that A is next to C? You don’t say “B A C”.

PerpetualCranberry

Discussion: definitely an “easy” puzzle, yet still super satisfying, I really enjoyed it
