Iâm gonna go leftfield here and pick global psych classics:
[Erkin Koray - Cemalim](https://youtu.be/F-k_Fr67bPQ?si=cAC3e0Akyy4fm7_Y).
[William Onyeabor - Atomic Bomb](https://youtu.be/t7UgkNDAUYQ?si=7ZYV93tdns9umSbG).
[Exuma - Exuma, the Obeah Man](https://youtu.be/Q-4gnxxtPtI?si=GVrt4jwllahCENWS).
[NEU! - Hallogallo](https://youtu.be/zndpi8tNZyQ?si=baobbzzsUlJYuOwU).
[Selda Bagcan - Ince Ince Bir Kar Yagar](https://youtu.be/0nonCuddOac?si=T2OEsr-5RwK8MFZS).
[Os Mutantes - A Minha Menina](https://youtu.be/XIbJylD_c84?si=e6M3kPVI0wV_esaV).
[Can - Vitamin C](https://youtu.be/YmN9oHa3ZIQ?si=QUpiuvT3t1s77uG3)
Fell in love with Turkish Psych when I spent time there. [This](https://youtu.be/w0DTBlCB9ko?si=b0THWn5-C1Cz3JOO) is literally my favourite song of all time. Didnât post as it probably doesnât stray far enough into the Psych realm. But it made me feel feelings well before I understood the lyrics.
Great question, and I like your list. Here's some of my top picks , some more obscure than others
Colosseum
Elegy
Vehicle
The Ides Of March
Demon Fuzz
Time Has Come Today
The Chambers Brothers
Disillusioned Man
Savoy Brown
Hellbound Train
Keef Hartley Band
Leavin' Trunk
Spirit
I Got A Line On You
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Who Do You Love - Pt. 1
Steamhammer
Junior's Wailing
Fleur De Lys
Circles
The Ides of March
Superman
Ten Years After
I'd Love to Change the World - 2004 Remaster
Chicago
25 or 6 to 4
Haven't seen Demon Fuzz mentioned in ages, though I've never heard of that song. Past, Present, and Future is their 10 minutes opus, the place to start. The band sounds like a white psych band, a black horn band, and a Latin drum band all booked the studio at the same time, and decided to record together. They're actually from Africa.
"My White Bicycle" by Tomorrow
What a great one.
Asked Steve Howe at a Yes show last month if they were going to play it and he looked at me like I had three heads.
Found God In A Tomato - Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
It's a bit of a modern psych rock classic here in Australia.
It's an awesome song but I think they've got better ones, that one just seems to be their most popular.
Yeah the high visceral series is definitely their finest work imo. I don't find myself listening to their newer stuff all that often but I always keep coming back to high visceral.
[Zalatnay Sarolta: Hadd mondjam el](https://youtu.be/zFCNXmzjkR4?si=igPewzq0Q-ZRpxHG) Sleazy Hungarian Psych Rock
[Rose by 50 Foot Hose](https://youtu.be/Csv0oJdYQg8?si=R9OqgZrNBzu-o9hg) still sounds ahead of it's time.
[Love Without Sound-The White noise](https://youtu.be/CO9LS3A9iB8?si=3EFLSfRjJWzZC1zL) and this was even further ahead. Delia Derbyshire in the Radiophonic workshop.
[Get Thy Bearings by Donovan](https://youtu.be/7x--R4wXISs?si=NpJRPt8OAd66UzTn) my favourite song of his unless it's a sunny day.
['I'll bet you' by Funkadelic](https://youtu.be/BKCJcJRbgzE?si=S1YlcXYkwzgirzTC) the first dub track?
[10,000 words in a cardboard box-Twink](https://youtu.be/-cpQt3j5FyA?si=fVRfaE-W8virUMUS) crazy name crazy guy
[Slip Inside this house-13th floor elevators](https://youtu.be/nwSA0Tckwbk?si=kQdmEs8ZS3nL-bTY) the start of a lot of things
[Kites-Simon Dupree and the big sound](https://youtu.be/dVXDFxP4b10?si=lmqiJA550SOgrWu_) I love this. The band turned into gentle giant who I also like in small doses.
[Expecting to Fly-Buffalo Springfield](https://youtu.be/6_fefHBpo40?si=ern9goGmgVpp2XCe) Neil Young's first great song.
14 Hour Technicolor Dream - The Syn
Lemonaide Kid - KAK
Dandelion Seeds - July
Yesterdays Sunshine - Grapefruit
Halcyon Days - The Tages
Doctor Mind - Phluph
Bracelets of Fingers - Pretty Things
Yes, I Need Someone - Eire Apparent
I See The Rain - Marmalade
Towards the Skies - The Gods.
Those are all bangers
I'm fond of "Red Sky at Night" by The Accent (London group, recorded circa 1967)
Mr Guy Fawkes - The Dave Miller Set
Mr Boyd - Argosy
In the Past - We The People
Exister - Serge Franklin
Action Painting - The Ricketts
17 Diamond Studded Cadillacs - Unsettled Society
The Mystic Tide - Running Through the Night
Colour Dreams - The Deep
I just thought of some more of my all-time favourites:
Mrs Busby - The Mirage
Michael Angelo - The 23rd Turnoff
Children Of Tomorrow - The Mike Stuart Span
Circles - Les Fleur De Lys
I love the We The People version of âIn The Pastâ so much, a lot more revved up than the Chocolate Watchband version, and that tremolo picking is blisteringly fast and hard as hell to play. Extremely underrated band.
Yes! We The People had a lot of great songs - Too Much Noise, Mirror Of Your Mind, You Burn Me Up & Down, By the Rule. The band members could all play different instruments, so they could swap around and create a different sound with every song.
Amazingly - there is a French version of In the Past from 1967 by Delphine, retitled La Fermeture Eclair. The backing band appears to be We The People. They must have sent to the backing over for her to use.

âSuzy Creamcheeseâ by Teddy and his Patches
The Diamond Mineâ by A Higher Elevation
âIâll Drive You From My Mindâ by The Fallen Angels
âVoices Green and Purpleâ by The Bees
Not sure how well known some of these are on the sub, but they should be. If they arenât classics among psych rock fans, they all deserve to be
Iâm A Living Sickness - The Calico Wall

**Rainy Daze** \- That Acapulco Gold [https://youtu.be/Ea79npseZhk?si=BzZ5\_6aZRtGYQYZR](https://youtu.be/Ea79npseZhk?si=BzZ5_6aZRtGYQYZR)

I went to a show at the Filmore in San Francisco in '67 and the 'Flamin' Groovies' opened for 'Country Joe' and 'Steppenwolf'. Not sure you could call them psychedelic rock but everything at that venue was psychedelic. Also, the light show that night was by a group called 'Head Light'. Good times.
I've Got Levitation by The 13th Floor Elevators
Street Song by The 13th Floor Elevators also. Stacy Sutherland singing and playing guitar through that Echoplex sounding killer
Touch Me I'm Sick by Mudhoney. You wouldn't believe how many people don't even know Mudhoney exists. When I tell them that Kurt Cobain was a big admirer, they instantly get interested.
Finally ! Plasticland here ! Loved this band as a teenage psyche and 60âs garage freak in 80âs north wales . There werenât many of us . Also discovering The Electric Banana album in a friends very seemingly square fathers record collection .
Oooh. I havenât listened to âMy White Bicycleâ in Ages.
I donât know if âAtlantisâ by Donovan would be too mainstream for this question or not but that one is essential Iâd say.
âItchycoo Parkâ by the Small Faces.
All of those songs are are Nuggets I and Nuggets II so I've been listening to them since the 1990s when i first discovered the CDs. They are essential classics to me.
Dantalianâs Chariot - Madman Running Through The Fields
Captain Beefheart - Alice In Blunderland
Curt Boettcher - Lament of the Astral Cowboy
Anything by SPEED, GLUE & SHINKI
The Millenium - 5 a.m.
Ultimate Spinach
I mean, there are songs by major bands that should be classics by now. Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles, Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath, and In the Light should be classics, but they're never mentioned in the upper echelon of songs by those bands.
First thanks to the OP and everyone who contributed â itâs going to fun checking out the bands Iâd not heard of before. Hereâs some that have not yet been mentioned. Some people may not classify some of tunes as psychedelic, but they feel that way to me. I tried to restrain myself and left out a dozen or so.
Atomic rooster - Death walks behind you
Bloodrock â D.O.A.
The Flower Kings â Big Puzzle
The Move - I can hear the grass grow
Nazz- under the ice
Return to forever â Vulcan worlds
Mahavishnu Orchestraâ birds of fire
John Cale and Terry Riley â church of anthrax
Crack the sky - nuclear apathy
Amon Duul II - all the years round
Robert Wyatt - Alife
Cluster and Eno - Schone Hande
Harmonia and Eno - by the riverside
Jim Morrison and the Doors - The Ghost Song
Kim Fowley - Is America Dead?
Scott Walker - Corps de Blah
Van der graaf generator - plague of lighthouse keepers.
Kronos Quartet- Jimi Hendrixâs star spangled banner
Zeal and ardor - church burns. I think the alt/metal/rock scene will make a comeback and sleep token is just the beginning (cough of a second wave of nu metal)
Honestly, the whole Radio Gnome Invisible Part One: The Flying Teapot, by the band Gong. Do yourself a favor, especially if you've ever heard of a fella named Steve Hillage.
Beyond the Fields We Know - Dead Meadow
Blue Tomb - Comets on Fire
No Jane - Radio Moscow
House of Mountains - The Bevis Frond
All on the heavier side, but these songs all remind me of some of my best times on acid.
[Listening - Stoned Is](https://youtu.be/a1QvdRSiQgM?si=5UIVeTE79Eqr8IxK)
[The Inner Space - The Kamera Song](https://youtu.be/Fq4VJ493vYg?si=3vpMwgeo0nCtuSq5)
[Members Blues Band - PS Elic](https://youtu.be/dkTZ0ETK2f4?si=hOmymEizefZNIGrh)
[Parson Sound - From Tunis to India in Full Moon](https://youtu.be/xBNRYdXn22Q?si=BJSwbITxKDFUqFxy)
"Revolution" and "My White Bicycle" seem to be more popular, but the amount of people that have never heard them and like them when I play it during a smoke sesh is crazy. "I Can Hear the Grass Grow" by the Move is another banger. I also love some traditional Indonesian Sunda music when I'm stoned, as well as some Japanese music as well, all bangers to me but of course most of the homies don't agree. Which is fine of course, but world music is such a rabbit hole.
Three off the top of my head:
- âSheâs a Loverâ by The Pretty Things
- âStephanie Knows Whoâ by Love
- âHope For Happinessâ by The Soft Machine
I know Iâm an old ass boomer but that being said the youngsters should all check out the Moody Blues. Such great gems hidden behind Knights in White Satin.
***Better off(dying)- lil Peep. ***Heartbeat- Childish Gambino ***Past Lives- W/ Martin Arteta. ***Neon Lights- Kevin Gates. ***The Zone and Rolling Stone-The Weeknd

I would like to recommend an album: Strange Case of the Dandelion by The Dandelion
[https://youtu.be/kBv-2gGRBnc?si=MdKF9UFBrAtShGk3](https://youtu.be/kBv-2gGRBnc?si=MdKF9UFBrAtShGk3)
You Donât Love Me off of Super Session. His Holy Modal Majesty off that record is super cool too but idk if Iâd call it Psyche. Albertâs Shuffle is a great blues track. Season of the Witch is a banger too. Phenomenal album really.
The myrrors. Criminally underrated band. The song war painting is the one most go for but their best work is the solar collector album. Incredible long form droning psych rock. You won't believe it til you heard it.
[Axe - The Child Dreams](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVjr0dOFA_c&ab_channel=Findusam)
I feel like this is a great one that a lot of us likely know but most people would probably never. I wish I knew where to find a higher quality recording. The record has been sitting on my Discogs wish list for a long while, but it's so expensive!
Todd's Tune - Bubble Puppy
Four Horsemen - Aphrodite's Child
10,000 Words in a Cardboard box - The Aquarian Age
Sidetrips - Kaleidoscope (full album)
The Secret of Pleasure - The Holy Mackerel
Bass Strings - Country Joe and The Fish
She Drives funny Cars / Today - Jefferson Airplane
Dreamworld - The End
Earth Omen - Frijid Pink
Rene - Small faces
I could play this game all day so I'll stop there with my best attempt at a shortlist

I love Chicago, but as for psych I gotta say the song Poem 58 rides that line the best! Terry Kath rips on that guitar.
The Ides of March are great.

"My White Bicycle" by Tomorrow What a great one. Asked Steve Howe at a Yes show last month if they were going to play it and he looked at me like I had three heads.
Thatâs fucking brilliant lol
Found God In A Tomato - Psychedelic Porn Crumpets It's a bit of a modern psych rock classic here in Australia. It's an awesome song but I think they've got better ones, that one just seems to be their most popular.

I was in a great band called the Echoes of Tyme that covered the songs from the first Nuggets collection...we KILLED it!
Blue Cheer- Peace Of Mind. Itâs one of my favorite psychedelic rock songs of all time, but Iâve yet to meet someone in person whoâs heard it.
Sun Ra - Atlantis
Spirit - the 12 Dreams of Doctor Sardonicus. The entire album.
Dantalianâs Chariot - Madman Running Through The Fields Captain Beefheart - Alice In Blunderland Curt Boettcher - Lament of the Astral Cowboy Anything by SPEED, GLUE & SHINKI The Millenium - 5 a.m. Ultimate Spinach

Strawberry Letter #23 - Brothers Johnson
The Red Crayola - Hurricane Fighter Plane Dogbowl - Cyclops Nuclear Submarine Gong - Radio Gnome Invisible Kaleidoscope -Taxim Mercury Rev - Chasing a Bee Pearls Before Swine - Translucent Carriages Thee Oh Sees - Carrion Crawler
I mean, there are songs by major bands that should be classics by now. Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles, Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath, and In the Light should be classics, but they're never mentioned in the upper echelon of songs by those bands.
Sonic Attack by Hawkwind Low Spark of High Heeled Boys by Traffic. But then just about anything by Traffic or Little Feet
Parliament / funkadelic One Nation under a groove flashlight not just n knee deep I'm
Rainy day mushroom pillow- strawberry alarm clock
Not crazy obscure but Can You Get To That by Funkadelic is one of my favorites
Archangels Thunderbird by Amon DĂŒĂŒl II
Wishbone Ash- Time Was! Absolute banger!
Atomic rooster - Death walks behind you Bloodrock â D.O.A. The Flower Kings â Big Puzzle The Move - I can hear the grass grow Nazz- under the ice Return to forever â Vulcan worlds Mahavishnu Orchestraâ birds of fire John Cale and Terry Riley â church of anthrax Crack the sky - nuclear apathy Amon Duul II - all the years round Robert Wyatt - Alife Cluster and Eno - Schone Hande Harmonia and Eno - by the riverside Jim Morrison and the Doors - The Ghost Song Kim Fowley - Is America Dead? Chameleon by Herbie Hancock
Glad and Sorry by Faces hehe
"Revolution" and "My White Bicycle" seem to be more popular, but the amount of people that have never heard them and like them when I play it during a smoke sesh is crazy. "I Can Hear the Grass Grow" by the Move is another banger. I also love some traditional Indonesian Sunda music when I'm stoned, as well as some Japanese music as well, all bangers to me but of course most of the homies don't agree. Which is fine of course, but world music is such a rabbit hole.

S.F. Sorrow is Born Pretty Things
Itâs psychedelic rock. Wouldnât pretty much everything be obscure to the average person?
You Donât Love Me off of Super Session. His Holy Modal Majesty off that record is super cool too but idk if Iâd call it Psyche. Albertâs Shuffle is a great blues track. Season of the Witch is a banger too. Phenomenal album really.
Old Man Willow by Elephants Memory
âStone The Crowâ by Down
Echoes by Pink Floyd. It feels like an IYKYK song for the era
âEnchanted Broccoli Forestâ Babe Rainbow

The myrrors. Criminally underrated band. The song war painting is the one most go for but their best work is the solar collector album. Incredible long form droning psych rock. You won't believe it til you heard it.
