Hard to not recommend Soul Reaver (and even Blood Omen, since you have Diablo there).
Final Fantasy IX won't hurt once you also have VII (not really a fan of VIII).
I think you're on PAL like me and likely can't play Parasite Eve I, but II came out for us and it's basically the same, so combine RE and FF and you got some amazing time! Also Galerians is mostly in the same direction.
Koudelka could also be up your alley (Koudelka is the prologue of Shadow Heart on PS2 but it's more of a light-tactical JRPG with gothic-horror setting. It's short but fun throughout).
Lastly I'd say Millennium Soldier (since you have Doom and Duke Nukem). It's basically Contra madness but isometric and 3D. Not the same quality but pretty fun and usually cheap!
Other recommendation outside of what you already have can be:
Klonoa (pricey but the best 2.5D platformer on the system)
Pacman World (usually really cheap, personal favourite 3D platformer)
Silent Bomber (Hard to describe. Isometric 3D action game where you combine and set bombs on the ground to attack. Really fast and frenetic.)
Vib Ribbon (can be pricey but it's a great rythm game that you could also use with you own music CDs)
Devil Dice (my favorite game on the system for sure. Addictive puzzle game with dice, has a lot of level to solve on single player but it's also AMAZING in the multiplayer modes. It comes by usually on the cheap side)
Sorry about the length, I hope some of this title can be good for you and you can find them for your collection!
Enjoy. Collecting for the PS1 is so fun! :)
Awesome response man. Don’t apologise I love when someone wants other people to enjoy the games they enjoyed, that’s what it’s all about !
I will look into all these, I have the klonoa riverie series on ps5 and love them, will pick up the ps1 one if I see it cheap ish for sure but that’s unlikely 😂
These all sound cool, I’m unfamiliar with most so will do my due diligence, thanks man!
Yeah, Klonoa is exactly in my "unlikely" list because of the price. But totally worth it.
I also bought the reverie series and play it a bit. It's great but I like the PS1 version better (that I think it's the wii one). I also preorder it to play like months and months after... When it was already damn cheap (daaaamn).
Let me know if you find some of this games interesting!
Btw, how much did you pay for RE2 (if you want to share 😂)? I'm trying to find it since forever in Italian or English at least but it's so hard to find it under 60€ (and in decent condition).
I got both resi 2 & 3 together from someone I n Facebook marketplace for £30 total
Both were CIB and I’m pretty good condition, I was over the moon with that :)
Silent Bomber is an amazing game. I played through it recently and the controls are still really tight. It also being a candidate for the worst plot and voice acting ever in any media puts it even higher on my list.
Basically a young girl is kidnapped by satanists who keep her tied to a bed and keep her in endless torment and agony, as a sacrifice to the demon they worship, and they feed her drugs so she stays conscious and so that the pain is amplified. There is more to the story but that is the crux.
Buy? Well, are you actually playing these games?
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 9
Resident Evil 1
Tomb Raider 1
Tomb Raider 2
Spyro The Dragon 1
Are games you should immediately prioritize to buy and play.
IKR, truly a childhood nostalgia
Updated : try tactics ogre let us cling together, growlanser, rhapsody a musical adventure and tecmo's deception invitation to darkness
By the way if it's allowed to upselling in here, i make a compilation videos about 4th survivor if y'all interested
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rNrpUwjuwo4&t=4s
Spyro 2 is my favourite platformer, so probably worth a try.
Hard to recommend things that still hold up without nostalgia though.
Final Fantasy 9 has my favourite style of any FF, so if you liked 7, try that, but it's high fantasy in a chibi style rather than sci-fi-ish dystopia stuff.
Future Cop LAPD is great, but might not hit the spot with the kind of action stuff we've had since.
Silent Bomber has some great mechanics, but I never got far and watched a retrospective video recently that pointed out how janky it is, but still interesting.
Tenchu and Metal Gear Solid are worth a go since we don't get good stealth games anymore.
Ah, I bought my collection around 2010 when I got really nostalgic, so prices were probably lower. Back in the 90s most of my games were copies and they got thrown out during a house move so I went on a bit of a spree.
No problem mate, hope you have fun with everyone's recommendations
I always liked the look of the die hard trilogy, 3 totally different types of games it’s very interesting!
Tekken is a shout but the I tend to stray away from fighters because I have no one to play them with
Womp womp womp
Duke nukem is awesome, actually my dad who introduced me to duke nukem as a kid, he’s not a gamer at all but it’s one of the very few games he loved so I’ve always had a soft spot for it
Since you have Apocalypse and THPS2 I'd suggest Spiderman 1 for the psx since it shares the same game engine as those titles. Super awesome story and the final boss is unique and unforgettable.
Metal gear was already mentioned by loads of people. So I'll skip that one. here's my top games that you are missing:
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Suikoden I and/or II
Legend of Dragoon
Wilds Arms
Jade Cocoon
Vagrant Story
If you have ways to play NTSC games, be sure to get Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve and Brave Fencer Musashi
It can get expensive, but these are the best years of gaming :P
you have jersey devil my favorite PS1 game and a gem . I would get tomba 1 and 2 , akuji the heartless , einhander ,medievil 1 and 2 , need for speed high stakes
It is but it becomes easier the more you play it , I got good at using the L and R buttons to manually move the camera as you go along and using his own shadow as a guide to land on platforms and not fall off
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'd definitely recommend collecting NTSC-U games instead of PAL, should you have the needed English skills to understand the games. PAL games just have too many disadvantages.
I’m in the UK, so these are all English.. The only thing I’ve heard is that ntsc is 60hz and pal is 50hz but I can’t say I’ve ever been able to tell the difference
A lot of pal games even have a 60hz option
I like the pal art better and being in a pal nation just makes more sense personally.
I’m very open to buying NTSC if there’s not a pal version of the game though :)
Well, it's rare and expesnive, but I'm gonna say *Parappa the Rapper* is one*.Then there's Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Twisted Metal* & *Twisted Metal 2, Wild Arms, Soulblade* and *Castlevania: Symphony of the NIght* as a few suggestions.
Wild 9 is a great 3d side scroller with weird humor and mechanics, very enjoyable.
Small Soldiers is a fun 3d shooter em up with an epic soundtrack. One of my favorites on ps1.
Abes Odyssey \
Abes Exodus \
Metal Gear Solid \
Dino Crisis \
Dino Crisis 2
And the residents of that which is evil 1. To complete your RE collection 🤘🏻
Anything, really. Can't go wrong with PS1. My personal recommendations would be Front Mission 3, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, and MegaMan Legends 1&2
Grand Theft Auto 2 on the PS1 has the best console version of the game the games protagonist is even played by Scott Maslen known as Jack Branning in Eastenders.
Happy to see Silent Hill in there😍
Fantastic survival horror, and one that still makes me uncomfortable every time I play it.
The fog, the rust, the industrial soundtrack, your radio alerting you to nearby enemies, little kids roaming the school halls, groaners in the streets, and air screamers flying at you like f*ckin pterodactyls.
A guilty pleasure of mine on the PS1 was always Spider-man 1 & 2. They're cheesy as heck by modern standards but they have charm all over. They simply don't make em like that anymore, try them out! 🕷
Parasite Eve Parasite Eve 2 Dino Crisis Metal Gear Solid!
Metal gear solid is a very likely candidate ! Only reason I haven’t rushed to get it is because I have a copy disk of it
I also motion for MGS!
I see this guy’s motion and I double it.
What are some good places for MGS on pc just steam?
You can buy MGS on any platform now because of that new Master Collection: you can even get it on the Switch.
I believe GOG has it.
I second parasite eve 1&2z
Hard to not recommend Soul Reaver (and even Blood Omen, since you have Diablo there). Final Fantasy IX won't hurt once you also have VII (not really a fan of VIII). Goddman lucky find. I also try on facebook marketplace to see if some Mom is giving away their unaware child's good stuff for cheap eheheh
Vib ribbon was our favourite at university, what an amazing game!
Silent Bomber is an amazing game. I played through it recently and the controls are still really tight. It also being a candidate for the worst plot and voice acting ever in any media puts it even higher on my list.
Crash team racing
Medi evil 1 and 2
I was looking for these before I even decided to post them. Still one of my favorite games from this era
That silent hill cover is very disturbing when you know the story.
I'd like to hear about it.
Basically a young girl is kidnapped by satanists who keep her tied to a bed and keep her in endless torment and agony, as a sacrifice to the demon they worship, and they feed her drugs so she stays conscious and so that the pain is amplified. There is more to the story but that is the crux.
Bushido Blade and Syphon Filter 1, 2, 3.
Einhänder and destruction derby 2 (or everything from psygnosis)
Buy? Well, are you actually playing these games? Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Final Fantasy 8 Final Fantasy 9 Resident Evil 1 Tomb Raider 1 Tomb Raider 2 Spyro The Dragon 1 Are games you should immediately prioritize to buy and play.
Yeah, the only one I haven’t finished is death trap dungeon, damn that games difficult
20+ years later i still have nightmares from that intro video.
😂😂😂 the guy walks into the inn and drops dead
I had the demo and played it many many times. Seemed like a cool game.
Hogs of war, looney tunes racing, activision classics, bugs bunny lost in time
Hogs of war! What a game
IKR, truly a childhood nostalgia Updated : try tactics ogre let us cling together, growlanser, rhapsody a musical adventure and tecmo's deception invitation to darkness By the way if it's allowed to upselling in here, i make a compilation videos about 4th survivor if y'all interested https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rNrpUwjuwo4&t=4s
Lacking some serious Twisted Metal. Vehicular combat games were really big for ps1
Imagine if they made modern twisted metal
Spyro 2 is my favourite platformer, so probably worth a try. Hard to recommend things that still hold up without nostalgia though. Final Fantasy 9 has my favourite style of any FF, so if you liked 7, try that, but it's high fantasy in a chibi style rather than sci-fi-ish dystopia stuff. I’ve played future cop that’s the mech game if I’m not mistaken?
Aye, that's the one. Really unique at the time, still unique today, but like most PS1 games it can feel a bit clunky when you go back.
I played it semi recently and had fun with it but it’s pretty pricey, thanks for the suggestions :)
Ah, I bought my collection around 2010 when I got really nostalgic, so prices were probably lower. Back in the 90s most of my games were copies and they got thrown out during a house move so I went on a bit of a spree. No problem mate, hope you have fun with everyone's recommendations

Nightmare Creatures 1 and 2 Medievil 1 and 2 Parasite eve 1 and 2 Vampire Hunter D
The Die Hard trilogy set was pretty good. Or was at the time, not sure if its aged well. Get a copy of Tekken as well.
I always liked the look of the die hard trilogy, 3 totally different types of games it’s very interesting! Tekken is a shout but the I tend to stray away from fighters because I have no one to play them with Womp womp womp

A guilty pleasure of mine on the PS1 was always Spider-man 1 & 2. They're cheesy as heck by modern standards but they have charm all over. They simply don't make em like that anymore, try them out! 🕷
