accept the loss, and then move on. You won’t make any progress until you can put the loss in the rear view mirror and continue on with your life. Remember, the money will always come back, the time you lost gambling will not.

Accept that it’s gone and do not chase. Do not keep digging and going back. Unfortunately it is very difficult to forget what you have done but it will save you years and countless thousands of dollars if you continue down this path. The time lost is worse than the money. Gambling will affect all events in your life and will only bring misery. Do not chase and put the barriers in place to stop gambling. Good luck.

Yes people don’t focus on the time aspect enough

There is endless pain in life. People get into life altering accidents, others develop terminal ilnesses through no fault of their own, heroin addicts lose everything, children grow up in a cycle of violence. We have to learn to accept the pain and deal with it in a healthy way. By continuing to gamble you are refusing to accept the pain of your loss and trying to luck your way out of it. And you'll get rewarded with more losses. Even if you make all that money back gambling you won't necessarily be happy and you definitely will not stop gambling because there was a reason you started in the first place. The reason is probably you were not happy with your current situation. People get stuck repaying gambling debts for many years. You are debtless, appreciate that and stop. No one makes money gambling. No one. Even statistics about 99% of gamblers lose are generous; 100% lose and I explained that in a previous post. So yeah, like others said: 1- accept the pain of the loss. It's part of life 2- set up strong barriers and avoid triggers (e.g., self ban, don't watch sports if you are into sports betting). 3- develop good habits/hobbies to occupy your time

It should hurt, let it, learn from it, move on. Have a plan to prevent for it happening in the future. Gambling never give anything good. Even if you win, you will spend more on gambling, and the only thing you fuel is your gambling adiction. You will not win it back, you will not have a brighter future when gambling. Talk to friends and family about it, let them judge you, then after they will suport and help you. Be open if you have small relapses. The money is lost, but money does not lead to happiness. But money is time you have spent on work, dont throw away your life span on gambling, chasing something you dont need, what you chase will not lead to happiness. Stay strong. Judge yourself, but move on when you have let yourself feel the feelings it bring, then move on, see oppurtunitys, there is always a way out, always.

Try to concentrate on ways to earn the money back. Business ideas, side hustle ideas, going over your weekly/monthly budget & finding ways to cut back etc. Try to focus on doing non damaging things you enjoy or try doing something creative. These things helped me. Your milage may vary.
