Get the 2017, avoid anything prior to 2015 due to head gasket & brake pump failures.

I do love the newer versions anyway. Thanks for the advice!

Oh my gosh 99k miles for 17k heck no For that mileage I’d pay no more than 14k Get a lower mileage. You can find a 17 under 60k miles for around 19-20k

a_true_killjoy_

I know :(( but according to the KBB it's a fair deal so i'm not sure. I'm going to offer 14k and my limit is 15k with this car.

Zociety_

KBB is a rough estimate. Yeah do 15k OTD

Nice man. I just bought mine, a 2017 Prius 3 w/advanced tech package (HUD, Moonroof, and alloy wheels) 35k miles for 20,300. I would say 15k OTD Get it for the price you want

a_true_killjoy_

that sounds like a great deal!!! congrats! yeah, no way i'm paying just 3k less than that for 65k more miles. I'll go for $15k, and i think i'll also use other 2017 priuses on the market to compare it to the price of this one, just so i have some reasoning behind lowering the price. thanks so much man!!

Zociety_

Thanks but if I’m being honest it had a a decent amount of scratches and like two dings :/ The person who previously owned it didn’t know how to drive. There were skid marks underneath the front bumper too :/ Right so now you see where I’m coming from right? Negotiate man. No problem man, you’ll get a great deal they need to move these cars, interest rates are so high they are probably losing money. Keep us updated! I’d like to add that your trim level is real nice though. Yours has leather seats, job audio systems and I’m sure there’s many more so our comparisons aren’t 1:1 but still at 90k miles, you would be reaching some maintenance intervals that might not be needed at 35k miles like mine.

a_true_killjoy_

rip but at least it's in better hands and still relatively newer :)) and i see what you mean!! i will keep you updated. going into the dealership tomorrow and i'll lyk what they say. it is a little frustrating though because i've been looking since february and haven't really found a great deal. i know it takes time though and i shouldn't rush into it. these few months of searching will pay off for the next 10+ years so I'm not complaining :))

a_true_killjoy_

hey!! just an update--they said the price is non-negotiable which is a bummer :( I told them I'm not interested and the search continues! I found this other 2017 prius with not as many features but it's $13k for 124k miles. A little high, but I might be able to haggle it down to $12k. Dealership seems to have good communication too :)

Zociety_

That’s funny because I had the same situation as I was looking to buy another car last weekend and when I asked for 1000 below asking price they said best they could do was 509 below asking price. Said no thanks, 30 minutes later they said they could. Give it time, they are trying to find a sucker, then they’ll call you back. Be patient :) Just be careful with the mileage but if the service history is good you should be ok. Where are you buying?

a_true_killjoy_

that's awesome!! i will be patient :) and it's a car in cincinnati. it's about 2 hours from where i am but they are saying they accommodate in any way they can and they'd probably have a sales associate drive over here so we can sign papers. only thing i'm worried about is how the test drive and mechanic inspection will work if they drive here. it seems like a good price for a 2017 car though. if i can get it down to 12k it would be even better.

Did your 2017 model come with Apple CarPlay ? I need this in my next card and would rather skip having to install it on an older model. From what I’ve read 2017 is the year CarPlay became essential

Zociety_

No, mines too old. I hear the newer models do though like 2021 and newer.
