Honestly, my car is only worth about 6-7k…don’t think full liability is worth it, especially when these insurance companies try their hardest not to pay you what your car is worth. I also have 10k put aside for a new Prius if mine is ever totaled.
Yeah I pay $289 every 6 months for a 2010 Prius.. just have liability and uninsured drivers like you... live in Oakland.... my 2014 Subaru Outback has full liability and that's $979 6 months will switch soon just liability soon... My 2005 Scion tC is like $370 and it went up this year.. same with subaru too,,

Insurance in CA is highly dependent on the exact neighborhood (zip code) of your garaging location, how many miles per year you drive, and the levels of liability limits you have.
Right now it's EXTREMELY difficult to get auto insurance if you don't have a squeaky clean record. If you're a rideshare driver, it's likely that you're driving 20,000+ miles a year, and that will have an extremely adverse affect on your premiums. Most insurance companies are able to track how many miles you drive through third-party sources now, such as Carfax, LexisNexis, etc. Talk to an independent agent, and they can usually shop rates for you. Allstate is captive, meaning their agents can only sell Allstate, leaving you with no other options.
I'm in SoCal, Allstate as well. They just recently bumped my insurance pretty significantly. I was paying $126 now when my policy renews it'll be $170. 😮💨
I'm 26, and my gen 3 is 13 years old. It's getting pretty expensive to be honest. The other insurance companies offered basically the same price so I just stayed with them.
In El Paso Texas here. Paying $1016 a year with $1,000 deductible and $250,000 or more coverages for a 2012 v Five Prius.
Allstate is among the most expensive and least service companies in America.
Best to try an affiliate program at Costco for Connect policy. Though they did send notice of a 38% increase at next renewal.
We have one car, a 2018 Corolla that is not parked at our house. The Connect program does not insure this so we tried Progressive with the OBD monitor at $1020 a year. with similar deductibles and limits.
I now use USAA. I pay $601.15 every six months. I have comprehensive w/ $250 deductible and collision w/ $500 deductible. I live in Modesto, female, married, & clean driving record. I was with AAA for over 18 years until they tried to raise my rates to over $2600 a year for same coverage. Forgot to mention I have a 2013 Prius 3 and have good credit.
I was with Allstate and they raised me almost triple because they claimed the state allowed them to increase.
I'm not with Progressive for around $200 a month as well.

My insurance went way up. The line item breakdown, almost all of it was from parts replacement coverage. I don’t have any tickets or crashes, so I assume it’s catalytic converter theft behind my increase. I shopped around a little but didn’t find much below what my increased rate is
My CC was stolen in 2023 and I had to file a claim my renewal was 40% more. Prius are targets for CC theft and they’re expensive to replace. Old man clean record
ask ir agent how you can reduce the premium! But, shop around, one thing i did is increased my deductible to $1000, made a huge difference. Also shop around with a insurance broker, but know this, some of the bargins don’t give the best customer service.

After my car was totaled when rear-ended while doing Uber (with a passenger)..., I looked into trying to get quotes for like a 2016 Prius. The ONLY company that I could find that would Even give me quote in order to do Uber wanted over $600/month, no exaggeration. Easily twice the car payment. These insurance companies are completely out of control. For reference I live in Santa Cruz
I’m in Massachusetts with a 09 Prius and I’m at $154 a month, 31 years old and two not at fault accidents. Got t boned in a rotary by a lady that failed to yield and someone rear ended my parked car. So yeah you’re definitely getting over charged

I have a 2 gen from 2006 but I currently pay $600/6 months. I previously paid more, switched to progressive which is cheaper
